Pre Order Heat Wave

Readers may recall during our interview with Seamus Dever last month we talked a little about Detective Ryan’s online blog. The blog is an off-screen extension of the character, filling in some personal background for Detective Ryan and expanding on some of the events that occur in the series. Now ABC is going a step further. While the current trend is to find ways to promote TV series off-air through the use of digital media features like webisodes, ABC is taking a step back from a technological focus and in line with Castle’s lead character’s author background they’re releasing a novel.

The story will be credited to Richard Castle and each chapter will be released a week at a time on ABC’s website. The first chapter of the novel titled “Heat Wave” will be available on August 10. Following the gradual release of the first half of the book online and a week after series 2 premieres ABC’s sister company Hyperion will release a printed version.

What a great idea! Count me in. Please post links to it here, as their website is often a mess.

  2. Amanda Says:

    I can’t belive it! I’m so exited.
    Can’t wait to read it.

  3. Joni Says:

AWESOME Keep us informed. I have talked to others about something similar at abc.go. If you picked up on that THANK YOU If you didn’t, I still want to thank you. This is so great that you are going to do promotion of this show. Writing, directing and characterization is wonderful, and the marketing the book will be great!! Thank you ABC.

  4. Penni Says:

I think this is an awesome idea. There was such a void left after the end of series 1 and this is a great way to fill that hole. All we need now is some way in which we can subscribe to each chapter so that we can read it as soon as it’s released. Way to Go!!!

  5. Kay Says:

Ahh! I was waiting for them to do that, I kept telling my friends (who get really annoyed ’cause I talk about ‘Castle’ too much) ‘I wish they would actually write some of the books that appear in the show! I’m so happy, I can’t wait until it’s out. Will it become an actual book, or is it just going to appear online? Please keep us informed with the latest chapters! Thank you!!!

The novel is now available for pre-order! (click on the image in the article above)

What a clever idea! I’ll be reading those weekly chapters. And I really love this show. I’m a fan of Nathan Fillion and started watching because of him. But I fell in love with the characters and storylines of the show and am now solidly hooked. Thanks ABC!

  8. Pam Says:

Hmm, the prices all went up. I checked the US Amazon page, and it’s about $13 now. The same goes for all the others. I guess this book is really picking up heat [pun not intended].

  9. Admin Says:

THanks for letting us know about the price changes Pam. I think for anyone that had already ordered it they’ll still pay the lower price but for those that haven’t yet, it might be a good idea to do so now in case the discounted amount changes again!
