That was published as a book and it was written by the character, so technically yes, but I don't recall a situation like this which is quite a bit different. There have been tie-in novels of course, Stephen King's "Rose Red" also released a diary written by one of the characters, "The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer", and if I'm not mistaken his "Kingdom Hospital" had a tie-in novel as well, but correct me on that because my memory's hazy on that one.
