After exceptional ratings again last night for the conclusion to the two part “Castle Event” ABC has finally announced that they have renewed the series for a third season.
Castle blew the ratings away again last night. Initial results give Castle a 3.7/10 in the 18-49 demographic and a total of 14.47 million viewers achiving a series high for the second consecutive week and beating episodes of CSI: Miami and Law & Order. This week’s increase was achieved despite a drop for lead-in Dancing with the Stars.
According to ABC, Castle delivered ABC’s biggest audience in time period with a regular scripted series since 1996 and its top Adult 18-49 number since 2001.
ABC has ordered a full season of 22 episodes.

Unfortunately the only release date known for season 3 at this stage is for the USA which is September 20th.

We LOVE the Castle shows…so much that we DVR and watch over and over…excited to see what happens when Castle returns from the Hampton’s….hopefully WITHOUT his ex-wife!!

In reply to a few people: Shows where the characters get together too soon often die. However, in the Nikki Heat books, they can get together in fantasy — which pleases the fans but still keeps the tension building.

Thrilled beyond words that Castle is returning!! I am older than the “average viewer”, & Castle is my most favourite program. I hope to see it for many years to come.

Castle is wonderful. I keep buying the earlier seasons on DVD and giving them away as gifts. Its a wonderful show. I love all the characters.

ABC —You finally got something right!!!
From what we’ve seen of the spoiler episodes, it seens Castle is in such a tight corner he has no one he can trust. The fact that Castle is finally (at least it appears he does) carrying a gun is good. A tougher Casle will make for an even better rating.
September 20th please come quicker, I’m losing patience, faster the I could lose blood.

LOVE, LOVE this show. Castle cast works so well together and makes me laugh. I love the relationship between the different characters. would be great to see a “tougher” Castle…he needs to be a little more of a
“Manly Man” and tell Beckett where to get off once in a while/as she runs the

I doubt there will be any news on when Season 3 will air internationally until AFTER it begins airing in the US. Try and be patient. I would also suggest you contact the TV network that airs Castle and let them know you love the show and would like to know when season three will begin, if they can’t tell you right away they might give you an indication of when they might know more.

US TV shows never air at the same time in other countries… it’s just not done, and never has been… the same applies to other countries who create their own TV shows.. they always air in their own country before anywhere else. Also, it is not the fault of anyone working on Castle – it’s up to your own network (Star World) to decide when they will air Castle in India. They are the ones you need to complain to.
Yeah for Castle…love him, his mom and daughter, his sense of humor and or course his lovely lady detective.. DELEMIA…..I also LOVE Hawaii Five O and am so glad I can record Castle and Watch Alex O’Louglin….that show is terrific too. PLEASE switch to a night where they dont compete against each other.. Alex and all the hard work and terrific dramas he has done has my first vote. Suzanne

I am so happy for Castle !!!! Such a good show without resorting to horrendous overkill on murders like a certain CSI show I won’t mention the name of .that was on this past week….it was horrible. Had two of my favorite characters on it from the Young and Restless. Ugh, disgusting… Keep it up …..Hathan! I LOVE Alex O’Loughlin so watch him and record you….would someone please put you two on different time periods so there wouldn’t be a conflict. You are both terrific! really love the show! my grandmother and I used to watch CSI shows together. Then we parted for a while, once when she Monterrey during summer vacations she recomended me to watch Castle, so one day I decided to watch the 3 AM re-run. I watched it and loved it!! Then I got my mom, my dad and my sister into the show.. now we watch the season 2 re-runs every week!!

I still haven’t heard anything about when Season 3 will start in India – as I keep telling people when they ask that, you should contact the network that airs Castle there (Star World I think) and ask them when they plan to air season 3, they will know before anyone else does. If you ask them and you do find out please let me know and I’ll pass the word along to anyone else who asks.

Rick Castle introduced the Derrick Storm Graphic Novel at the bigging of the final episode of season three. The episode ends in a cliffhanger and I think Rick might have dropped us a clue!
This morning my wife and I chatted about the final episode and speculated on season four. I remembered that Kevin Smith wrote a Graphic Novel in the mid-nineties that connected the movies Chasing Amy and Dogma. I figure it this way! Ryan Carried that Derrick Storm book around in every episode of Season two. I knew it meant something, and sure enough, it was a clue from the writers to check out the Derrick Storm books. They secretly let it slip the book wasn’t just a prop. I believe the graphic novel is the same clue and we should pick it up.

I am so glad they show Castle in India. Because it is loved just as much in New York. What I love about it is the innocence about love, teenage relation with father, and great grandmother, and the way crimes are handles
Great 3rd season finale…Beckett was obviously wearing a bullet proof vest…a smart thing…
I’m not really sure if Cpt Montgomery is dead…seems he is, but you never know…the writers might want us to think he is dead/bring him back somewhere else, as the bad guys are after
him as well…I knew that either Backett or Castle would be shot, and the other would be at his/her bedside…
Can’t wait for season 4 in September…hope Castle takes a stronger role/maybe the mayor
will make him a detective/after all the work that Castle has done the previous three years on
“the job” so to speak…and to see how the Beckett thing grows stronger.

Concerning Castle being made detective, for me that would take out the saucy relationship he has with the deptment, and Beckett. See everyone is waiting for the two to get together but I dont’ think that would be a good move.
How does one get on the show as an extra. I could be the German aunt coming to visit Castle, or Beckett; the long lost one. I know crazy, but I think it would be fun to be an extra on that show.

Yes, the writers have to “upgrade” Castle into something else to keep his character

In terms of the relationship between Castle and Beckett, I think keeping it going but from a different angle would work fine for me. Because what else is there once they finally get together. Yes, there are the detectives, and the killings, but I think, all along, the focus was on the two teasing each other to death, and us wishing they would just go ahead and make it happen.
Another fantastic start for Season 3. One of my favorite shows on TV. It has all the right elements … romance, intrigue, action and comedy. I can’t get enough of CASTLE with its’ superb writing … my hats go off to ABC! Let’s keep this show going for years to come … like Dallas and Dynasty!
