Castle renewed for 3rd Season!

After exceptional ratings again last night for the conclusion to the two part “Castle Event” ABC has finally announced that they have renewed the series for a third season.
Castle blew the ratings away again last night. Initial results give Castle a 3.7/10 in the 18-49 demographic and a total of 14.47 million viewers achiving a series high for the second consecutive week and beating episodes of CSI: Miami and Law & Order. This week’s increase was achieved despite a drop for lead-in Dancing with the Stars.
According to ABC, Castle delivered ABC’s biggest audience in time period with a regular scripted series since 1996 and its top Adult 18-49 number since 2001.
ABC has ordered a full season of 22 episodes.

As a male i obviously tune in for the detective side of this story, however, i must say that the acting, writing, and drama aspects of this story are fantastic. I too have been a fan since the pilot. I will say, that there needs to be an episode like where both castle and beckett are kidnapped or something and because of both of them complaining about each other the kidnapper forces them to kiss once… and they hold the kiss for just a few too many seconds… longer than what the kidnapper wanted… and both of them get very uneasy and flushed about it… JDJ

I am so thrilled it has been renewed for a third season. It just keeps getting better and better. the Two part episode was fantastic. The writers are so great. I usually can guess the endings to movies and TV shows in a couple of minutes (a lifetime of reading murder mysteries! ) but Castle always leaves me guessing until the last minute. This serial killer plot was so good and so out of the ordinary I think the writers should deserve an Emmy for it.
I wondered why the mother was moving in with someone. Now we know Kate is moving in. Should bump up the “heat” a bit (giggle)

Great news! I was going to buy season two on DVD, but wanted to check to see if the show was renewed. I don’t like having TV shows on DVD with only one or two seasons. I only watch two TV shows and Castle is one of them!

Just pre-ordered the season two DVD which is an all time first for me
I usually wait till the price drops before ordering a DVD but now, I just couldn’t wait. Kudos to all who make this show what it is. If there’s one addiction I have no problem living with, then it is this one

I am sure glad that y’all are leavin’ Castle on the air. I have really become attached to that show….I used to watch CSI Miami…but now I watch Castle because it’s not as gritty and there is more person to person interaction between the characters. Keep up the good work and DON”T change a thing…..DON”T let Beckett leave either. Tie that girl down to the set….she and Castle make the show.

Really glad for the 3rd season and looking forward to getting the 2nd season on DVD. But not looking forward to having them date other people. I really love the banter and since they’ve been compare to tv and film couples who can banter and still work together, it would be nice to see it happen sooner than later. I feel like we loose something when they aren’t working toward being a couple.

I was so excited to read that there will be a season 3! This has been one of the best written shows in years. It is so great to finally get a great story line with humor, interaction, and keeps you totally involved until the end. The crew is fantastic together, and it’s good to see some personal info coming out on them a little at a time…The writers are amazing, and deserve a lot of recognition for their awesome plots. Again, keep the chemistry and stories coming. This is such a perfect sweeeeet crew and cast. I haven’t been this interested in a show in years. I have been a fan since episode one. I was intrigued to know there was a geniune Richard Castle who did write Heat Wave. You guys have really nailed it on the head. His book is just like the series. He needs to write more as well. Again, congrats! I will be looking forward to seeing Beckett and Castle going at it more next season!

Only thing is, the writers have to be careful. I love the show, but can guess every week who the killer is. It is the first person they show in the beginning of the program. Its a joke now at my house, whereas, I will see the first guy and say, “thats the killer” cause they always show him first and then go back to him. Can get a little boring there. Writers, hope you see this. I am sure I am not the only one who sees this.

I love watching the subtle way Nathan steals the scene without wasting our time. His character moves ever closer to being original and complex without being pedantic or patronizing- for this I am grateful. I agree with Mike N. about the writing being a little predictable. We like to imagine ourselves as Sherlock Holmes, don’t treat the viewers like you think we’re all Watson. Other than that, one of my favorite shows.

Superb show! Definitely have to keep the back-and-forth between Beckett and Castle alive. Their chemistry is what drives the show, IMHO.

CASTLE IS THE BEST SHOW PERIOD ON TV RIGHT NOW. WE ARE TIRED OF ALL THE CSI TYPE SHOWS. YES!!! This show is so entertaining. I especially liked the 2parter a few weeks ago. It reminds me a bit of Hart to Hart, now you know I am old; however, my college kids and 80 year old parents love Castle too.

That’s awesome!! It’s so nice to have something other than reality TV to watch. I look forward to Monday nights every week. I wish we didn’t have to wait until the fall for new episodes. Castle is the perfect blend – enough drama and detective work to keep it interesting (not as gruesome and true-to-life as some other cop shows), mixed with just the right amount of humor and romance. Can’t wait to see how Caste and Beckett’s relationship develops.

Ok I generally don’t watch any TV, but I must say I AM HOOKED ON CASTLE!!! I have set an alarm on my phone to make sure I don’t miss the show! I have told at least a dozen of friends about the show. I got my sister hooked and we talk cross-country during the commercials about the show!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I was a big fan of Nathan Fallon on Firefly and have grown to love him as Rick Castle. As a woman, it is so night to see such a strong lead with Beckett. And she is such a wonderful actress. A friend recommended the show, and I have fast become a “groupie”. I recommend the show to anyone and everyone who will listen.
Can’t wait for the 3rd season.

I love this show! I am in Canada and it makes it all the better because both lead roles are played by Canadians.
Hopefully Demming is now gone…and Castle will have a fight with Gina and all will be well with him and Beckett next season.
I just love Susan Sullivan as Castle’s mother. I remember watching her in a lot of shows in the 70s…those pictures she shows on Castle of herself as a young actress are really pictures of her back then.
I didn’t realize until I found this site that they had actually published the Nikki Heat books. I will now have to search the bookstores for both.

I love Castle. It is the only show that I watch on TV. I have watched since the first episode and have four on my computer and 30 on my DVR. It is the best written show on TV. Whenever I can not sleep, I turn on my DVR and watch Castle. It relaxes me and allows me to go back to sleep. I have told all of my friends throughout my network to watch and they do…young and old. I am so haapy that there is a show worth watching. It has a great story line, excellent characters and I can usually tell “who done it” in the first few minutes but with Castle it is getting harder. Thank you to the great writers.

Its amazing how well the writers have played with the romantic side across the age profiles! Very well done! But you need to ensure that the same is not “over extended” and the chemistry between the two main actors reaches its culmination point in your third season and you find something more to keep us all hooked on to the show. This is perhaps the first time I am even bothering to write about a TV show in my life. Its obvious we all want the two to make it. I have followed each episode from the start and am from India.
A very well balanced and fast moving TV show and have recommended the same to everyone I meet…. keep it up and great to hear the season 3. Congrats…

I have been watching this show from day 1 and from an Australian critic I think it is bloody fantastic. I love Nathan Fillon and his character and his daughter in the show is brilliant. All the cast are great… I think Nathan Fillion would make a great action star, maybe someone should come up with a concept like Indiana Jones or The Librarian trilogy. Awsome news there will be a third season…

Love the characters, the suspense, the relationships and humor. Love the tension between Becket and Castle and the loving relationship between Castle and his daughter and mom. Finally a show that is truly a pleasure to watch. Can’t wait for the next season!!!!!!

I love Castle and watch it every week. Last night on the 24th I was looking forward to watching and finding out what happend to Castle and Beckett after he left with his x in last weeks episode. I had a family emergency last night and missed the last episode on season #2. Please advise what happend. All is well at home but I want to know if Castle came back to work with Beckett or do I have to wait until season #3. Please advise. I love this show. Thanks, Debbie

My family and I are very happy about the news of a 3rd season, we have been fans since the promo. We love the relationship castle and Becket have . We were upset when they added a new love interest for Becket why not just let Castle and Becket have fun together. The show is awesome can’t wait to see where the next season takes the crew.

I honestly hope we will be celebrating many more seasons of Castle. I’m assuming there must be lots more folks, like me, that are playing catch-up with missed episodes and just becoming big fans. I have to say, much as I understand why so many people want Castle and Beckett together, I am happy to wait. I think Castle has many more layers of the Beckett onion to peel and I’m hoping to find out more of what goes on during her free time. I’ll bet she is into martial arts and it wouldn’t surprise me if she had her own set of those custom bondage cuffs. Great writers, wonderful wit, surprising twists, and the best cast and acting I have seen in years. Only bad thing is having to wait till September for the dvd set to be released.

Love “Castle”. Never miss it. Hope you don’t drag us through a long unsatisfying romance. There have been many husband and wife detective teams: Hart to Hart, The Thin Man, Nora and Nick Charles, to name a few. Some of the most famous mystery authors in history have married off their character: Ngaio Marsh, Margery Allingham, Dorothy Sayers, and even the everlasting Agatha Christie introduced a married team of detectives. Rick and Beckett have the perfect chemistry to carry this off. Could be a new trend!

Castle is the best thing to hit television in years! We have been hit so hard the past 10 years with gorey, procedural shows. I, for one, have grown weary of them.
Castle is refreshing, slick and sexy one moment, and endearing and playful the next. As many others have said, it’s an update of shows like “Moonlighting”.
The chemistry between Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion is spot on. Susan Sullivan’s character adds pizzaz when she sweeps in with her one-liners. Nathan’s relationship with Molly Quinn makes me want to send him a Father’s Day card. Yeh for ABC! You hit the jackpot with this one. (Thank you, Andrew Marlowe)

I am so happy about a third season! Castle is definitely one of the best shows on TV. The chemistry between the cast is really what makes it great. Castle and Beckett… well we all know that, but it’s other things like Ryan and Esposito are a great pair and provide Castle buddies to mess with Beckett a little. Also Lanie and Kate are really close, annd she provides Beckett with an outlet to tallk about her feelings for Castle. One thing that could be worked on is the murder plots. They’ve become predictable. But aside from that, it is an amazing show and I look forward to the new season!

In reply to a few people: Shows where the characters get together too soon often die. However, in the Nikki Heat books, they can get together in fantasy — which pleases the fans but still keeps the tension building.

From what we’ve seen of the spoiler episodes, it seens Castle is in such a tight corner he has no one he can trust. The fact that Castle is finally (at least it appears he does) carrying a gun is good. A tougher Casle will make for an even better rating.
