Breaking news just in from our sources! ABC has ordered two more episodes for Castle this season taking the total number of episodes for Season 2 to 24.
Since Season 2 began viewer numbers have crept up with an increase almost every week, continuing against the trend as other shows continued to lose viewers. On October 20, ABC ordered a further nine episodes to add to the initial season order of 13.
Last week the much anticipated episode “Sucker Punch” in which the murder of Beckett’s mother was revisited, obtained a season high in the 18-49 demographic reaching 2.8 and 9.44 million total viewers. Castle also took the number one spot for the hour and gained more viewers than CSI: Miami in the important “women 18-34″ demographic.
This week the ratings rise continued with the episode “The Third Man” reaching a new series high of 3.1 in 18-49 with 10.5 million viewers.
No news yet on Season 3 but the signs continue to look positive.

If you’re a fan of the TV series “Castle” this is an opportunity you won’t want to miss. Executive Producer/Director Rob Bowman has generously donated not one but two set visits to benefit The Reational Center in Los Angeles..
The set visit will last approximately 3 hours and will take place at some point between March 30 and April 9, 2010 during an episode that Rob is directing. The exact date will be worked out between the winners and the production company. While it is likely that the winners and guests will encounter the stars filming that day, it is not possible to guarantee that winners will meet them. Transportation to Los Angeles is not provided (however bidding is welcome from those outside the area.). All winners and guests must be over 18 years of age and be U.S. citizens.
The Relational Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity whose mission is to increase diversity in the helping professions and to expand access to culturally competent counseling, coaching and consulting for individuals, families, organizations and communities.
IBG is acting as “host” for these auctions. In 2008, IBG established an official non-profit campaign focusing on utilizing the power of philanthropy through the arts to benefit a wide range of charities worldwide. IBG acts as a “fundraiser facilitator” for underfunded and start-up charities that would otherwise struggle with the logistics and costs associated with event fundraising.

Golden State
Since the “Castle” first aired in March 2009 with the pilot episode “Flowers For Your Grave” viewers have made a lot of noise about the music used throughout the series. “Castle” received an Emmy nomination for “Outstanding Music Composition For A Series” in 2009 and is expected to be nominated again in 2010. Each week following a new episode fans can be see scouring the internet for details about songs used in the series.
This week, following the airing of “A Rose for Everafter” the internet exploded with viewers eager to find details about the song used in the final wedding scene. CastleTV.net credited the song as “Love Song” by Golden State as did the ABC in their Castle Music Lounge however confused fans suggested that the information must have been incorrect, particularly considering lead vocalist in the song is female and Golden State is a male band.
James Grundler, composer of “Love Song” and primary songwriter for Golden State has responded exclusively to CastleTV.net to provide a little background on the song.
This is James from Golden State and yes, you guessed it, that’s not me singing Love Song. I had this song idea and it just didn’t feel right with my voice so we decided to experiment with a female voice – her name is Holly Conlan. It finally feels ‘right’ and I am really glad you like it – it fit so well in the wedding scene.
You can stream the track on the Golden State website. The song will be available for purchase soon, to be notified when it becomes available join Golden State’s Facebook page.

The return of season 2 of Castle last night after a four week holiday hiatus saw a positive response from viewers with almost nine and a half million people tuning in and a ratings share of 2.6/7 in the 18-49 demographic. The episode was ranked by viewers posting to Twitter as one of the best of the series so far.
Following on from the positive ratings news Castle was highlighted at the TCAs (Television Critics Association Press Tour) today by ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson who said “Andrew Marlowe [Creator] has done great job of growing those characters. And I hear so much anecdotal support for the show, it’s great.”
McPherson also said of Castle, “We’re excited by the show, Nathan is fantastic and I think his chemistry with Stana is great. I think tonally, there’s not a lot of shows on like it. Probably Bones is the only other show with that tone and we’ve seen what a success Bones has been. It’s a warrior for Fox.”
An announcement was also made that the second Richard Castle Nikki Heat novel is due to be released late in September, one year on from the release of Heat Wave. Heat Wave appeared almost immediately in the New York Times Bestseller list and has remained in the list for 14 weeks. Castle has already started making references to the new “Heat” novel with this week’s episode “A Rose for Everafter” mentioning what’s coming up in chapter 6.
Further news leaked today by Ausiello is the guest star appearance of Dana Delany in two episodes of Castle. Nathan Fillion played opposite Delany in season 4 of Desperate Housewives. The guest appearance will be for a two part episode which in a unique move will air on consecutive nights. The first part will air on Sunday night (Mar 21) following Desperate Housewives with the second part airing in Castle’s regular time slot on Monday night (Mar 22). Delany will play Federal Agent Jordan Shaw.
While no announcement has been made for a third season of Castle there’s no denying that all this positive news is an encouraging sign.

Kinky ABC has OK’d a kind of “wife swap,” lending out Desperate Housewives‘ Dana Delany to Castle for two episodes, sources confirm to me exclusively.
But Delany won’t be playing Katherine Mayfair, she’ll be playing Federal Agent Jordan Shaw.
Why this almost unprecedented move? Try ulterior motives. The network likely is hoping that Delany’s presence will draw more eyeballs to Castle, particularly since her first episode will air on Sunday, March 21 at 10 pm/ET following — duh — Housewives. (Brothers & Sisters has the week off.) The Emmy winner’s second Castle, which reunites her with her Desperate ex, Nathan Fillion, will air in the series’ regular Monday-at-10 timeslot on March 22.
