Heat Wave is Up…and Down?

After selling out around the country Richard Castle’s novel “Heat Wave” dropped down from 6th position to 17th on the New York Times Bestseller List a couple of weeks ago. New stocks have started shipping out over the last two weeks and this caused “Heat Wave” to rise back up to #15 last week and the NYTBS list today shows that the novel has risen further to 11th place. Castle is also #18 on the Barnes & Noble list.

“Heat Wave” has however dropped significantly this week (in price that is) and can now be Purchased through Amazon for just $9.00. Jon Huertas who plays Detective Esposito in Castle has agreed to join us for a special chat on Monday November 23rd.

The chat session will begin at 8:30pm Eastern Time (see below for other time zones) and people will be able to submit questions.

Terri Miller wrote the episode Vampire Weekend and was invited to chat with fans about the episode and her experience on Castle. More than 50 people attended the chat session which began just after 10pm (Eastern Time) and while the formal part of the session finished about an hour later, Terri generously stayed on for annother hour to chat with fans in an open session.

Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control we lost the final part of the log so there is some discussion missing at the end.

MOD -> I’m going to ask some questions now that have been submitted by people throughout the past hour, are you ready?

TEM -> Yup.

MOD -> [Ghostfinder] I want to know whether the Firefly material (in this episode, but also the last one) was inserted by the producers, or at the suggestion of Nathan, or whether Terri just came up with the joke and everyone liked it.

TEM -> My fingers are tingling

gibgrl1 -> It’s a good think I record all of Castle’s shows so I can rewatch them

MOD -> Sorry Terri, the last post was a question

MOD -> I’ll try to remember to put QUESTION in front

TEM -> I came up with the idea of doing a Halloween episode and putting Nathan in his Captain Mal outfit. Nathan brought his own Easter Egg to set and hid it in plain sight. I’m also a producer on the show.

TEM -> And in the last one… do you mean the Blue Gloves? Two by Two?

MOD -> sorry Terri, Ghost couldn’t make it so isn’t here to respond

TEM -> Oh, well if Ghost ever materializes, you can tell them that it was Nathan who did the two by two ref.

MOD -> QUESTION: [DJ] How much of the script got changed for this episode once you turned it in?

TEM -> All of our scripts are in a constant revision…

TEM -> Mostly they get tightened up… as we go along, the jokes get funnier, they get better, they can change based on locations we find and there are a lot of different elements that go into the shooting script that change a first draft

gibgrl1 -> How many more episodes will be in this series

TEM -> We’re shooting number 10 right now, so the answer is 12… 22 total… which we just found out last week and are all totally jazzed about

MOD -> QUESTION: [coffee4106] Who is your favorite character to write for?

gibgrl1 -> that is great news

TEM -> My favorite character to write for? I love writing all of them. Truly.

TEM -> All the characters Andrew created in his pilot are really rich and interesting and we’re always exploring new aspects…

TEM -> We have to write FAST!

MOD -> QUESTION: [jillmk4@yahoo.com] How long does it take to write an episode?

TEM -> I wrote the first draft of Vampire Weekend from an outline in 3 days… three long days. next

TEM -> We rewrite all the way through production to accomodate the necessity of the moment.

MOD -> QUESTION: [inkytz] Q for Terri: Being a writer, what/whom do you enjoy reading and why?

TEM -> I love Sci Fi… All the HARRY POTTER books…

TEM -> I love Jumpha Lampiri (pardon my spelling) She’s one of my favorite writers

kmom -> Good choice. Love Harry Potter. Deathly Hallows is one of the best books we’ve ever read, and we read A LOT of books.

TEM -> The last book I swooned over was The Time Traveler’s Wife

TEM -> Michael Chabon is amazing. The Amazing Adventures of Cavalier and Clay is an all time favorite

Snoopynuts -> Have you written any other tv shows

TEM -> I have written pilots that never made it to air.

TEM -> The last few years I’ve been making my own short films… trying to segue into directing.

MOD -> Reminder to everyone just coming in , please read the rules before posting

MOD -> QUESTION: [CherriesPlease] As a writer do you write in the camera movements as well as the transitions from scene to scene or is that the job of the director or cinematographer? I ask because I admire the pacing and use of camera angles and various close ups. I think that it is a very important contribution to the character of the show.

TEM -> We don’t write detailed stage directions into the script. Things like Alexis whacks Castle on the arm. or Martha comes down the stairs. or Ryan and Esposito approach Beckett’s desk with the phone list.

TEM -> The directors take it from there. Our writers are on set with our directors producing their own episodes, so the two people confer if there’s a question and the director makes the final decision how he/she wants to play it.

MOD -> QUESTION: [MichyGeary] Question: I love the close relationship between Ryan and Esposito. Will we see more of that this season? To what extent?

TEM -> Yes! MichyGeary – we’re working on episodes that feature Ryan, Esposito, Montgomery… Jon and Seamus are fantastic actors and we want to open up the world for them and for you.

TEM -> They have as great a personal relationship as they do on screen. The guys are a kick.

TEM -> I love that one of your usernames is YOUSMELLLIKECHERRIES.

kmom -> Must have been fun at the birthday party. NF gave us a taste on twitter!

TEM -> That was one of my personal favorite things in my script.

TEM -> And loved the way it turned out on the screen.

MOD -> [YouSmellLikeCherries] So here is my question: How about some meaning behind the You Smell Like Cherries moment? Why did Castle respond with Yes and Beckett No? Is Beckett starting to get really defensive about her feelings that are developing for Castle?

MichyGeary -> Great to hear it, Terri. Thank you! I love Ryan/Esposito. The Double Down was one of my favorite episodes because they had so many great moments.

TEM -> Oh, that was Castle and Beckett sharing a surprise moment of attraction, being so into the case they didn’t realize how close they were… getting that hit you get from someone you have chemistry with and then being CAUGHT by Ryan and Esposito.

TEM -> Can you say Flustered?

TEM -> The Double Down was great. David Grae wrote that. Very cool episode. I liked it too.

MOD -> QUESTION: [andreajean915] What scene from Vampire Weekend was the most challenging for you to write?

TEM -> Oh, that’s an easy one

TEM -> The final scene between Beckett and Alan Freeman

TEM -> I rewrote that.. . oh, about 15 times

TEM -> And a lot of the stuff I wrote didn’t end up on the screen, because the performances made some of the words unnecessary.

madlibn -> sign of a good show!

kmom -> Good for them to recognize that. So many scenes have been ruined by too many words.

TEM -> Them… is us

kmom -> Not on Castle.. ..past shows.

TEM -> Ahhhh

MOD -> QUESTION: [Fumoffu] Was Esposito’s marine costume at the end of the episode a nod to him playing a marine in Generation Kill ?

TEM -> Absolutely!

TEM -> There was a lot of nodding in this episode.

MOD -> QUESTION: [madlibn] did you write the book?

TEM -> If you mean HEAT WAVE, that was written by the charming Richard Castle.

madlibn -> Lovely!

MOD -> QUESTION: [andreajean915] One of the summaries for an upcoming episode mentions Alexis confiding in Beckett. Is that relationship going to be developed/explored through out the season?

TEM -> It’s explored in that episode.

TEM -> So the answer would be yes.

TEM -> It’s an interesting relationship, dontcha think?

andreajean915 -> i thin k it has great possibilities. and i’m excited to watch it develop!

MOD -> QUESTION: [mizkrysti@aol.com] It seems the show has abecome lighter in tone over the past several eps…is this going to continue, or will the show revert to a more ‘dramatic’ overtone?

TEM -> The show will roll… didn’t you think When the Bough Breaks was really dramatic? Everytime I watched it, it made my cry

mizkrysti -> I did, and I loved that ep!

TEM -> The Halloween Ep isode was light then very very very dark, I thought.

MOD -> QUESTION: [DJ] Are you going to write any more episodes this season?

TEM -> I hope so! I’m working on a really fun new idea.

kmom -> Loved WTBB so m uch, we have watched it three more times on Hulu.

TEM -> That’s great!

MOD -> QUESTION: [MnCastleFan] How much leeway are you given with the story line and the realtionship between Castle and beckett? Without giving away any plot details, what is the process of the writing verses what gets in the show?

TEM -> We have a writer’s room and every one of us, including Andrew, pitches to the room. We get reactions, input… and ultimately if it’s given a go in the room, we start writing what we call a story arena, give it to the studio and the network and they tell us if we can run with it.

TEM -> We have the leeway to come up with our own ideas and pitch them. The world is our canvas

MOD -> QUESTION: [sara h_darling] If you could have one guest star of your choice, who would it be and why?

TEM -> We’re very careful about calibrating from one episode down the line, as far as we know what they are, how the Beckett/Castle relationship develops and what’s going on with Alexis and Martha, Ryan and Esposito, Montgomery…so everyone knows where they can go.

TEM -> Ahhhhhh, just one!?

TEM -> I think it would be uber-cool to have Stephen King in the Poker Game… but then I’ve always loved Sting

TEM -> Bruce Willis and Cybil Shepherd would be fun to have.

TEM -> Angela Landsbury would be cool

TEM -> Who would be YOUR ultimate guest star?

TEM -> That’s a very long list.

TEM -> it’s easier if t hey’re on the same network though.

MichyGeary -> Ah, that’ s too bad. A lot of the good ones are taken!

MOD -> QUESTION: [guest] What is involved in being a producer of the show? What decisions are you personally responsible for?

TEM -> I can tell you that as a producer I am crazy busy and I have to write on the weekends.

TEM -> But I love what I do.

TEM -> I stick my nose in everywhere.

MOD -> LAST PRE SUBMITTED QUESTION: [saucy214] There have been some amazing performances by guest cast. Do you as the writer have any input into the casting?

TEM -> They are!

TEM -> Yes! We go into casting and the decision about who to cast is made by the director, the writer, and one or two of the producers

TEM -> It’s one of my favorite parts of the process. I love actors. They work incredibly hard and really bring it.

kmom -> How did you get your start in screenwriting?

andreajean915 -> which actor do you think is most simliar to their character? Dissimilar?

madlibn -> Stephen King is pretty much a free agent, no?

MichyGeary -> Terri, as a writer of the show, do you shadow anyone for inspiration like Castle does? : )

mizkrysti -> How did th e idea of The Poker Game get started? Was that strictly a device for the program, or does any of the cast/crew play organized poker?

TEM -> kmom – I won the Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting… I wrote a script, submitted it and it really launched me.

shellerinka -> How far in advance are the shows taped?

YouSmellLikeCherries -> : Is it safe to assume that something DID happen to Castle when he was younger that influenced his obsession with the macabre? And are we going to see more of Castle???s backstory? Could it be that he???s even more hesitant to talk about it than Beckett since he reverted to making a joke out of it?

gurl21 -> how did you g et your start as a writer? i love to here these kind of stories

gibgrl1 -> Do you welco me suggestions for plots for future shows?

TEM -> The Poker Game was one of Andrew’s original ideas as a staple for the show. He thought it would be great fun and it is!

Silver -> All the cases on the show are so interesting, where do you get inspiration for them?

jojo727 -> Terri, I jus t wanted to say that this week’s episode was one of my favorite ones so far! The he bit me part had me laughing for about 5 min!

Castle Season Interrupted in Australia

Castle fans in Australia last night were concerned with the mention “double final” in the promo for next week’s episode of Castle. We have been in touch with the network to clear up what’s happening.

This week is the final “ratings week” on Australian television for 2009 so many series currently aired will be finishing up including Castle’s lead-in Bones. The 2010 ratings season begins in February so the bad news is there will be no new episodes of Castle until then.

Next week viewers will be treated to two of the best episodes of Castle yet to air. “Vampire Weekend” features nods to roles from the actors’ past including Nathan Fillion’s series Firefly. This will be followed by “Famous Last Words”.

The good news however is that the Seven network has informed us they plan to air repeats of Castle on Seven and also on the new channel 7Two (Not currently available to areas receiving Prime). There are no air dates available for either network at this time.

In Australia Castle has continued to gain viewers each week adding another 50 thousand this week. The next episode, Vampire Weekend, has received the highest ratings for season 2 in the US and is expected to rate well with Australian audiences. Ratings figures can be found on our forums.

Jose Molina wrote the Castle episode “Famous Last Words” and was invited to chat with fans about the episode and his experience on Castle. Around 60 people attended the chat session which began just after 11pm (Eastern Time) and while the formal part of the session finished nearly an hour later, Jose generously stayed on to chat with fans in an open session.

QUESTION: [YouSmellLikeCherries] Jose, I started watching Firefly for the first time after last week’s Castle references, and I see that you worked on Firefly as well. I am loving this show just as much as Castle! I was wondering, though, what did your job entail as Executive Story Editor?

[Jose Molina] ESE is really a title more than a job description

[Jose Molina] it means you’ve been around for a little while, but not enough to produce your own eps

[Jose Molina] Tim Minear supervised me on “Ariel” and I worked with ben edlund on “Trash”

[Jose Molina] but my job was to write, write, write

QUESTION: [sheryllnkansas] In the past few years you have been writing/producing for some very serious/intense series, are you enjoying the addition of humor to the mix when writing/producing for “Castle”? Plus, is it harder to write humor or drama?

[Jose Molina] LOVING the addition of humor

[Jose Molina] and romance

[Jose Molina] When I left WAT, I literally updated my facebook and said “I will NEVER write int. interrogation room again”{Admin note: WAT = Without A Trace}

[Jose Molina] as much as I enjoyed and learned from WAT and SVU, I was burnt out on the genre {Admin note: SVU = Law & Order: SVU}

[Jose Molina] when I first heard of “Castle,” I was like “cops, procedurals, NEW YORK — NO!!!!”

[Jose Molina] then I read Andrew’s script, saw the show with Nathan and Stana and I couldn’t stay away {Admin note: Andrew Marlowe}

[Jose Molina] Can’t stay which one is harder to write

[Jose Molina] I can say comedy is obviously more fun

QUESTION: [spinja] Will you be writing more Castle episodes?

[Jose Molina] yes

[Jose Molina] Currently scheduled to do episode 14

QUESTION: [MnCastleFan] I wanted to congratulate you on your writing success and being a role model for the Latino community. When writing a show, do you have a choice on the murder location for instance having a crime in a Hispanic/Latino community? If so, would you be able to represent the generally strong family bond that exists or would that be too difficult?

[Jose Molina] wow… role model.. never thought of it that way…

[Jose Molina] The writing of a show is very collaborative

[Jose Molina] so it’s not so much about “having a choice” as it is about finding the best way to tell the best story

[Jose Molina] I am always very careful to not perpetuate sterotypes, though

[Jose Molina] if for no other reason because they are cliche and boring

[Jose Molina] but you look at “Franco Marquez” from last night’s show, he doesn’t look like what you’d expect a guy with that name to look like

[Jose Molina] then again, you don’t expect most guys to look like that!

QUESTION: [saucy214] 1. When you write an episode of Castle, which comes first, the crime/mystery or the development of character interrelationships? The two fronts of the story typcially seem to be intertwined.

[Jose Molina] It varies

[Jose Molina] For instance, “When the Bough Breaks” always had the element of the book being published

[Jose Molina] that came before there was a plot

[Jose Molina] because we knew when it landed on the calendar

[Jose Molina] there are certain goals that we have in mind for where the relationships should be at given times, but…

[Jose Molina] we sometimes start with an intentional Castle/Beckett storyline and sometimes with the crime

[Jose Molina] lame answer, but the truth is “it depends from ep to ep”

QUESTION: [spinja] Loved the foreshadowing of the Hayley Blue character in a previous episode, via a t-shirt. Do you have any particular familiarity with the current music biz in the US? The story seemed to come with an insider’s knowledge. The characters were all very true to the life. (former music reporter here)

[Jose Molina] I’d just read “Appetite for Self-Destruction” and am a life-long music buff who LOVES all things music-related

[Jose Molina] Can’t say I’m a huge fan of what’s happening in music right now, although Hayley’s name is a pretty big clue as to ONE band I enjoy

[Jose Molina] I’ve probably seen every “Behind the Music” ever, and am a VH1 junkie

[Jose Molina] It’s all from an outsider’s pov, but a die-hard fan’s pov {Admin note: pov = Point of View}

QUESTION: [ashley_slomo] I noticed that Beckett seemed to know a lot about rehab/substance abuse. She was talking about Hayley’s “exit interview” before she left rehab and how Sky wouldn’t stop using until she wanted to. Did this have anything to do with her father’s alcoholism? Will we find out more about that in this season?

[Jose Molina] I know all the writers would love to see B’s dad at some point soon

[Jose Molina] But the insider’s knowledge is more a cop’s knowledge than it is an al-anon’s member

[Jose Molina] At one point I had a reference to her dad when b knows about the “Ellison-King Rehab Clinic,” but I ultimately lost it because it seemed unnecessary

[Jose Molina] Cops see drugs and the behavior they elicit so often that there was no need to gild that particular lily

QUESTION: [Actress27] What was the scene you enjoyed most when writing Famous Last Words?

[Jose Molina] hmm…

[Jose Molina] good one…

[Jose Molina] Probably the “she hated Obama” scene

[Jose Molina] There was originally an opening where the body is discovered

[Jose Molina] where we hear “Here Kitty Kitty” as we’re following a cat down an alley

[Jose Molina] the cat stops to drink from a puddle of blood, and camera tilts up to see Hayley

[Jose Molina] that got cut, but it was a fun, creepy opening

QUESTION: [rvandsing] I’d like to know how the writers coordinate a specific story line from week to week. For example, we know there’s a story line about Beckett’s mother’s death. So, how do the writers handle incorporating that particular thread into multiple episodes?

[Jose Molina] We’re geniuses

[Jose Molina] We have a lot of communication between the writers

[Jose Molina] and ultimately marching orders from Andrew about where the arcs are going

[Jose Molina] it’s just a matter of figuring out how much can fit into an episode and be satisfying w/o overwhelming the main plot

[Jose Molina] but ultimately all the writers share pieces of the puzzle like good little boys and girls

[Jose Molina] For instance, I know what’s happening next in B’s storyline — as does everyone else

[Jose Molina] as well as where we want to go

[Jose Molina] and ultimately we can pitch dropping parts of the puzzle into each ep as we go

QUESTION: [Lindsey] Jose, as DVR and other non “traditional” viewing options become more popular, advertisers seem to be looking for opportunities to integrate products into shows- what is your opinion, from a writer’s perspective, on writing product placements into your scripts and where do you see the role of product placements in the writing process going in the next 3 to 5 years?

[Jose Molina] I think it’s fine if u can do it elegantly and it doesn’t interfere w/ the story

[Jose Molina] I think it’ll continue to happen over the next few years, but I sometimes think we may go the way very old school on this and have shows “brought to you” by advertisers

[Jose Molina] like when Ford presented 24 w/o commercials

[Jose Molina] at least, I’d LIKE to see that be the case

[Jose Molina] As a viewer, you go “thanks, Ford, glad I don’t have to watch commercials” and that’s that

[Jose Molina] (btw, by “old school,” I mean like back in the days when I Love Lucy was brought to you by Ovaltine or some such…)

QUESTION: [Tabz] Since you’re on such a crunch to write all the time, how do you overcome writer’s block?

[Jose Molina] You only get writer’s block when you stop — we can’t stop, so it’s not a luxury

[Jose Molina] if you’re stuck and you feel like your scene sucks, you STILL have to move on

[Jose Molina] if your scene DOES suck, you have to trust that someone else is going to help you make it better

[Jose Molina] that’s one of the reasons you need a staff of writers, we all have to pick up each other’s slack

[Jose Molina] but when you’re on a deadline, you just write, whether you’re “feeling it” or not

QUESTION: [Piratelabs] You and fellow writers seem to have some liberty with including small tips of the hat to shows that mainly Nathan has worked on (those his fanbase and fanbase of this show also enjoy). Frankly I think that makes watching the show and ‘listening’ to the show even more interesting for us the viewers (and fans!). I was wondering, since both your lead actors are Canadian born will there be any nods to Canadians?

[Jose Molina] Problem is, none of the writers are Canadian!

[Jose Molina] although one of our assistants is, and he carries the maple leaf flag proudly

[Jose Molina] I’m sure the nods are in there, ad-libbed by Nathan and Stana

[Jose Molina] there’s always a million little things in each ep that you only “get” if you know what to look for

QUESTION: [shellerinka] What is involved in being a producer and how does one become one?

[Jose Molina] In TV, there are writer-producers and non-writer-producers

[Jose Molina] I’ll speak to the writer kind

[Jose Molina] Producing your ep means everything from the first word on the page to the last minute of post production when you’re mixing the sound

[Jose Molina] from casting to wardrobe to shooting to editing, etc.

[Jose Molina] There are whole departments that do all the work, and as producers we give direction and make choices as to what we want or don’t want per the script/episode

[Jose Molina] believe it or not, I had to make a lot of hair decisions on this ep!

[Jose Molina] and I’m a supercuts kinda guy

[Jose Molina] but I knew what it was supposed to look like, I communicated that to the hair dept.

[Jose Molina] and they deliver

[Jose Molina] u become a writer-producer by being a working writer long enough and on-the-job training

[Jose Molina] as an ESE, I learned a lot from joss, tim and ben for instance

[Jose Molina] becoming a writer-producer is a process — you graduate to it

QUESTION: [Kcat] Jose, I bet it is great fun for you to work with Nathan, first on Firefly, now on Castle. How does he inspire you as a writer?

[Jose Molina] It’s amazing fun, yes

[Jose Molina] He’s an amazing guy

[Jose Molina] a complete professional in every sense of the way

[Jose Molina] it’s incredibly easy to write for him because he can pull off anything

[Jose Molina] drama or comedy

[Jose Molina] it’s inspiring because it gives you a lot of freedom to try a lot of different things

[Jose Molina] you can ask him to juggle chainsaws (in acting terms) and he will

[Jose Molina] so our challenge is to give him as many chainsaws as possible… and a unicycle… and a guy shooting rubber bands at his head

QUESTION: [caskett-beckle] Jose-I came to Castle as a Stana Katic fan. What is it like working with her?

[Jose Molina] Also awesome

[Jose Molina] Another true pro

[Jose Molina] The hours these guys work is insane, and Stana has to put up with additional hassles of hair and makeup and look as gorgeus as she does on next to no rest

[Jose Molina] and does so w/o complaining one bit

[Jose Molina] During my shoot, she was scarfing down some koo koo roo on set (at like 4 pm) and I was shocked that she hadn’t demanded to be fed a proper meal

[Jose Molina] I’m like “you’re the star of the show, the least you can do is demand food!”

[Jose Molina] Nathan and Stana (and the rest of the cast) make it a pleasure to be on set

[Jose Molina] and now i’ve ruined it and they’re gonna become huge divas!

QUESTION: [Vivaladorkmaster] What advice do you have for aspiring writers?

[Jose Molina] It’s a cliche, but the best advice is WRITE

[Jose Molina] All the time

[Jose Molina] Don’t be precious about it, just try to crank out more and more material

[Jose Molina] You’ll get better the more you do it

[Jose Molina] on a creative level, I’d say it’s always wise to try to absorb as much as you can — news, art, travel

[Jose Molina] It all educates who you are and what you write

[Jose Molina] and the more “full” you are as a person, the better your writing will be

[Jose Molina] on a practical level, if you’re trying to break into TV writing, you should seek entry-level work on a show

[Jose Molina] Don’t be bashful, we all paid our dues

[Jose Molina] Answer phones, get coffee, work 80-hr weeks for peanuts

[Jose Molina] It’ll pay off in the end

QUESTION: Last formal question and then Jose has agreed to stay for a little while for a general chat

QUESTION: A couple of people have asked about the opening this season and want to know if the more creepy opening from season 1 will be back.

[Jose Molina] We’re not opposed to it, but it’s hard to do those crazy stagings and keep the stories believable

[Jose Molina] If we come up with a great idea, we’ll use it

[Jose Molina] but there’s only so many times you can stuff someone in a safe and have a plausible reason for it

[Jose Molina] The “Here Kitty” opening I was talking about earlier is an instance where we entertained the notion

[Jose Molina] but ultimately we agreed that starting with a fun Castle moment and landing in the personal story immediately was a better way to go

[shellerinka] Heat Wave reads very much like an epi, is that how much you need to write per episode?

Jose Molina, writer of the episode “Famous Last Words” has agreed to join us for a special chat on Tuesday November 3rd.

In addtion to writing for and producing Castle, Jose’s past TV involvement includes series’ like Without a Trace and Law & Order SVU but he is perhaps best known for his work on Joss Whedon’s Angel and Firefly as a story editor and writer of the episode Ariel and co-writer of the episode Trash.

The chat session will be on Tuesday 3rd November (are we really in November already??), starting at 11pm Eastern Time (8pm Pacific Time). The rules will be simliar to last time but I will clarify a few things soon.

While every effort will be made to ensure the chat goes ahead we ask you to understand that there may be circumstances under which the chat will be rescheduled.

Technical Issues

We haven’t had the opportunity to test the chat room at high capacity, please be aware that if we have a larger than expected number of people attending this may cause issues with the server. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
There are some known issues you may encounter, please read below carefully.
1. Internet Explorer 8: If you are using Internet Explorer 8 you must turn on compatibility mode. There should be a button to the right of your browser’s address bar to turn compatibility mode on. This will prevent some layout issues caused by this browser. The chat room seems to work best in Firefox so if you have FireFox on your computer we recommend you use it for the chat session.
2. Timeouts: There is a bug in the system that causes some people to time out even when they’re active in the chat room. If you see an orange bar with an error message saying you are not connected, please refresh the page. This usually solves the problem.

TIME ZONES:
The chat session will be open starting from the following times (half an hour before our guest arrives).
USA: Eastern Time 9:30pm, Mountain Time 7:30pm, Pacific Time 6:30pm. UK: 1:30am (Thurs). Australia: Eastern DLS: 12:30pm (Thur)
