OfflineHi there!
Does anyone know the brand and the model of the watch that Detective Beckett uses daily(in the show)? The watch was from her father and the best photo that I found of it is this one from the Castletv contest :
.
I hope that mirella_209 doesn't bother with that.
Thanks!

OfflineOk so after searching through Amazon for a few hours, I think I found the watch. It costs $3,250 US dollars but that fits in with what Castle said about Beckett in the pilot with her coming from money.

OfflineHoly crud, you're good! And yes, I nearly died when I saw that price, for that much a watch better have an imbedded teleportation device. Man oh man. But yeah, as you pointed out, it does fit with the whole 'come from money thing'… as does her great fashion sense and apparent literary background

OfflineWOW that price!!!

I have to forget the idea of buying the same watch as Beckett…
Yesterday I saw several watches wile I was searching for her watch and this one is simillar: http://www.luxo24.com/relogios…..s_id=12083 . It's cheaper and it seems a good watch. Maybe i will buy it for my birthday next year.
Thank you very much for helping me to find her watch
PS: Sorry for the Portuguese site. I'm looking for the english one.

OfflineNo problem I understand completely. I used to never wear my high school class ring but after the 105 episode, I started wearing it on a long chain around my neck. It sort of resembles Beckett's mom's ring. Recently I started looking for the watch when I'd be out shopping. Amazon was my last resort lol. The one you found looks like it too but it's definitely a lot cheaper which is good for us lol

OfflineI always wondered that too. It's possible that the Beckett's didn't want their daughter to grow up conceded so they sent her to public school. You know keep her grounded. Plus then they would have even more money to spend on college which also explains Castle's musing of "you went to college. probably a good one" in Flowers For Your Grave.

OfflineBoth are good ideas, but do people really give $3,000+ watches as presents to people who don't have some money already? It just seems odd to me, but I realize there's really no rulebook on gift giving haha.
As for the scholarship, I would totally buy that. She's smart, determined, and we know she works hard. What school wouldn't love that?

OfflineHe could be a salesman.. a really good one. They get some pretty sweet gifts. The Beckett's would have a comfortable life for sure, but not necessarily a lavish one. Of course this is all just speculation… they could be like Rockefeller… however really rich people always seem to have connections… and for a top cop, she doesn't seem to have many.

OfflineI never thought that they were really rich either, just comfortable, like you said. Of course, there are different ideas about 'comfort', but Beckett clearly didn't move in the same circles as the bejeweled (Home is Where the Heart Stops) folks did: she seemed extremely uncomfortable in that environment, had no idea what to wear, and didn't know anyone there. So yeah, I like the idea that the watch was maybe a corporate/sales gift/bonus thing… though that leads me to wonder why Mr. Beckett isn't wearing it anymore (since it's so expensive) and Kate is.
P.S., I love all this speculation, oh so fun!

OfflineMaybe Johanna was their connection to everything in the rich world? I can kind of picture Johanna being a little like Martha in being extravagant. It's possible that after she was murdered, Kate and her father didn't want to mingle with Johanna's "crowd" because they didn't want to be reminded of her. Then with her murder have happened ten years ago, the people have changed and probably don't remember Kate and her father that much.
