I'm sorry guys, my tour was a special invitation – the Castle set is not open to the public. I felt very very privaleged to be allowed to go.
Why did you get to go?
Could be because she set up the website. Either way, what a wicked opportunity. I really need to a.) meet someone famous, b.) do something awesome, or c.) become famous so that I can one day have these sorts of special privvies lol

U GUYS MAKING OUT?

I think there's still hope for me to be able to visit somehow. I'm trying to get into the entertainment business. My ultimate goal is to be a producer. I was very lucky about a year ago to meet a producer who came to the town I live in to adopt a baby. I saw it as a sign that she came all the way from Los Angeles to adopt a baby in the small town in Georgia where I live. My mom worked at the hospital so that is how I got to meet her. She talked to me for a while and it was great inspiration/motivation. It was as if everything in the universe lined up for me to have that opportunity. She even said that herself. As soon as I get out there I'm going to bust my butt to try to get my foot in the door somewhere. I've even looked into jobs at the studio where Castle is filmed. I love everything about television and film. It would be so awesome to work at any studio, but the one where Castle is filmed would be an added bonus!
I think the key to getting involved in the entertainment business is being willing to work really really hard at the thankless jobs – I was told that by someone who works as a location manager (not on Castle). She said it's really hard work and the only way to get there is to work the jobs that pay badly, have terrible hours and are really hard work…but that that can pay off in the end. So if you're really wanting to get in the business, start at the bottom.

Oh yea, I'm totally expecting to start at the bottom. If that's what it takes to reach my goal then that's what I'll have to do. At least I'll be working towards something that I really want versus what I'm doing now. I work as a secretary at a doctor's office now. It's not a bad job at all, it's just not leading me anywhere that I want to be. Fortunately, I will be able to work a job that has terrible pay because my husband will be the primary source of income. He just got his masters degree in information systems, so at least I won't have to worry about that as much.
Thanks for the advice! I'm open to any and all advice because this is going to be such a new experience for me.

OfflineThe entertainment business is extremely competitive. But I agree, the dirty jobs that no one will accept are really the ones you should accept, even with the bad hours and pay. It will get your name out there, and you will get experience. On top of that if you can handle the worst then you'll feel great going into better relaxed and organized jobs. I really would love to work in the entertainment business but the chances of me packing up and going to LA or NY by myself are slim to nothing unfortunately. Maybe though I might actually wrap up the courage to do so. But all the hard work in the end will pay off and be rewarding in the end.

I'm so happy for you, Castle Admin, that you got the on-set visit – I'm sure it was a privilege because you do the website so beautifully! I can agree with you and the others who said that it's not a common thing — you don't just decide to visit a set!
I've worked in the entertainment business for many years now – I write magazine articles but beyond that have co-produced radio, tv, etc.,, as well as written for tv – my significant other is a famous psychic – so I've been "around" — it's not that easy to get into the business but don't get discouraged, either. It's tremendously hard work but very rewarding. You have to love it, though, because it's exhausting. Good luck to any of you aspiring to it. Oh, another thing? In between shows, assignments, etc., you're essentially "unemployed", so you have to be prepared for that, too!
Enough about that – can't wait to hear all the details about the set visit. May I ask one question? Where do they tape? I'm thinking of trying to interview Susan Sullivan (have met and interviewed her before but only briefly) for a magazine I work for, but wasn't sure where they taped. Maybe you don't want to give out the info – does the site have a private message feature where you could let me know? If I'm asking too much, I'll back off and find my way to her to ask for the interview – just thought I'd ask.

OfflineIf you want to try and set up an interview with Susan Sullivan ou'll probably need to contact her agent or publicist to arrange it, I wouldn't recommend just trying to contact her on set. If you've worked in the industry you'll know how to find out how to contact her publicist.

OfflineOh, I know I have to get to the publicist, agent, etc. Just wondered if they were filming locally so it wouldn't be too difficult to get there. I have an inquiry already in to contact the publicist, so will keep everyone posted if the interview works out, providing my editor wants to do the profile, of course!
