I got the new TV Guide today and in the watercooler section they talk about Beckett's hair. Here's what it says:
Is it just me? Or is Castle's Det. Kate Beckett rocking a mullet?
During season 1, Beckett had short "lady cop" hair that was as no-nonsense as her personality. But now, we could swear that we've detected some business-in-the-front/party-in-the-back action. According to creator Andrew Marlowe, "The producers have been working closely with our hairstylist, Toni Ann Walker, and Stana herself to create an interesting look that is functional as well as stylish." Fair enough, but to find out if it qualifies as the "M" word, we consulted 'do guru Tabatha Coffey from Bravo's Salon Takeover. "It's got that mullet-esque feel," confirms Coffey, "but it's a lot more blended than a real mullet…. It's sexy without being in-your-face sexy–it's still professional. And it really shows off her amazing bone structure." So are women going to start clamoring for foxy "femullets"? Says Coffey with a laugh, "If that happens, you'll be my first phone call."

I kind of love that this made TV guide! LOL. I'm actually amazed at how much talk her hair gets on all forums. I'll bet this is an eaiser style for Stana on the weekends, being able to pull it back and such. I am dying at "femullets". OMG.

See! We're not crazy to be talking about her hair all the time! Even TV Guide is doing it!
Also, I adore Stana's hair! If I looked half as pretty as her I would totally get the same cut!

I was hating that cut, glad to see she's wearing it a bit shorter… her hair looks very cute in the promo for 2x10

Oh oh oh, I must be so "up to date" – been having hairdo like this guy for years now. Perhaps I should keep it a little longer.

LOL poor Stana! I hope that she's not embarrassed about all of this. The haircut isn't that bad, I think it's just that they need to style it a bit better and quit shoving it behind her ears. I liked how it looked in episode 2.1.

I thought her hair was especially gorgeous in 2.1. I actually just finished re-watching that on my iPod literally 30 seconds ago and was thinking that.

They should have fired the hairstylist. Season 1 hair was perfect. Episodes 5-8 Beckett's hair was just too distracting. It's fine now so hopefully they don't do something like that again.

Isn't this that Russian singer star dude? I asked my friend who stayed a summer semester in Russia about it and she said that mullets are apparently the "in" style in Russia right now. Eewww. I saw Beckett's hair as mullet-esque in the beginning of season 2 and the only thing keeping me tuned to the show was the prospect that it "may not be as bad in the long run." I like how they're shortening the length a bit and styling the hair forward rather than the "party in the back" style. Personally, mullets inspire a puke reflex in me. I mean absolutely no offense to those who like the mullet style, I'm just expressing my own person style preference and bias.

Ick DO NOT WANT the mullet. Her hair is looking a lot better these days but the beginning of this season was rough!
I miss her dark red, short season one hair. I wish I could rock that color!

I hadn't read the original post in this thread until now, but it just gave me about 5 minutes of belly laughter…the "femullet" business! Anyway, just to put in my 2 cents, I liked Beckett's hair in season 1, but not when it was too short or spiky (like when she came to his Castle's bookreading in the pink dress).
When season 2 started, I was a little thrown by the longer hair, but thought it gave her a little more feminine air and grew to like it…although not as much when it was pulled behind her ears dramatically. No matter what, Stana is gorgeous, and always looks great.
My favorite hairstyle of Beckett's is the one she's been sporting the last few episodes…straighter and sleeker and more one length.

I actually liked her hair in the first season after the first episode. I do think the color suited her. She has such a gorgeous face that she can go long or short. But I do love her hair lately.

I liked her hair in season one, I liked it last fall too, I thought it was sexy and interesting. The current one? Boring. It's too run of the mill will work with any lifestyle. But if it keeps the complainers at bay, who am I to complain?
But I loved her hair up. Every time it's been up she looks great!
