OfflineA very long and very interesting interview with Rob Bowman about filmmaking, concepts, his previous work and of course about Castle.

OfflineHe calls her Kate Beckett a few times later in that interview so I guess it was an error by the interviewer. It was a very interesting read, Bowman has a poetic way of decribing the choice to shoot with film rather then video or digital cameras:
It’s a chemical process that sees images the way we do with our eyes.
Those images are sent to our brain. There is a random disbursement of
silver halide crystals on each frame of film that gets sparked to life
by light like its passing through a magical filter.

OfflineHave always loved Rob Bowman, from X-FIles to Castle, his episodes are definitely visually appealing, I always notice some interesting camera angle, some play on light and shadows, etc. in his episodes. The one scene in A Deadly Game where Beckett is breaking up with Demming, you see Stana reflected in the window, just a beautiful shot. And in Setup, so many brilliant shots, there's one backlit shot that is just cool. He's a genius director!

OfflineThanks for the link halaci. That was a really impressive interview. He is fascinating on many levels, but I really appreciated this bit:
ROB BOWMAN: I have always wanted to try my hand at making films which
are funny, dramatic, action-packed, creepy, and everything else. I have
felt from the beginning that if I have passion and enthusiasm for a
project, the only thing that could get in my way is me. I believe that
if you never quit, you will never fail. You'll have ups and downs, good
times and bad times, including doing your best work when nobody is
looking. All you can control is aspiring to produce the highest quality
films possible, and don't let rejection, frustration or fatigue
discourage you. You are in charge of your own destiny.
He has a very inspirational spirit and work ethic…not to mention his talent, which is great. Some day I'll check out his X-files work, as I can imagine it was amazing based on what I know about that show.

OfflineThis guy is great. I have a lot of respect for his work, especially what he did on The X Files. It's my favorite show ever. The episodes that he directed are some of my favorites. And he's also the one who directed the first X Files movie, "Fight The Future", in 1998. Amazing movie, on many levels. The X Files served as a basis for so many shows, indirectly of course. It's definitely a cult show.
This interview is very insightful. He's so dedicated to his work!

Thanks for posting that interview halaci. He's obviously VERY dedicated and enthusiastic about what he does and it totally shows in the quality of episodes the Castle cast and crew turn out.
And you're right – I don't think anyone has referred to Beckett as anything other than "Beckett" or "Kate" or "Katie" since the pilot, when Ryan teased her about owning the set of Castle's books by saying "From the library of Katherine Beckett." Interesting that Bowman called her that twice, then switched to Kate.
