I loved seeing Laurel Holloman as the aggrieved widow. She is a great character actressand looked so different than she did Sunday night at the HBO Emmy after party in her red designer gown!. I just wish we had seen more of her. I hand't seen Castle before, and loved Det. Kate. I found the mystery writer irritating.

Laurel was indeed terrific … my only wish is there were more scenes with her character in them. Some of the other scenes could have been cut to add some more texture to the story of Allen and his family.
I have watched Castle before and found it funny … I like Nathan Fillion.

Many of us tuned in to Castle for the first time to see the wonderful actress Laurel Holloman. As usual, she gave a fine performance. My only disappointment was that she was on screen for such a limited time. But some of Laurel is better than none of Laurel. Her many fans would love to see her in a continuing role on this, or some other quality network show, where her outstanding abilties would be seen and enjoyed by an even wider audience than that which followed her every week in the groundbreaking Showtime series The L Word. Ms Holloman deserves our applause and appreciation for her always nuanced, always beautifully targeted performances. Thank you, Laurel. Thank you, producers of Castle .

I, too, wished Laurel's character would have been given more screen time. It would have humanized the story — as it was her husband's death was played a bit as comic relief, since his body was stolen. If the writers had given us more of Laurel's character's story, we would have felt that loss of human life more and then been more invested in the whole story line. The way the story seems to be constructed (and, again, this was the first time I saw the show) the two leads could have a great Hepburn/Tracy kind of vibe. But to make a great smart, sparky romance work on screen, we have to feel real true human emotion. Laurel could have rocked that, had the writers given her more to work with, and Laurel's character's grief could have been a platform and springboard for the lead characters to delve into their own humanity more. And then you would have a much more compelling romance, IMHO.

Laurel Holloman's performance in this was absolutley great. She did a fantatsic job, as she always does. I just wish her part was bigger, but it was still great to see her in something. I hope she gets a regular on a some show or something soon because she deserves it and it would be awesome to see her on a regular bases again. I have watched Castle from the beginning and I enjoy the show a lot.

Hi Site Administrator (what do your friends call you?)
Laurel was a beloved cast member of The L Word for 6 Seasons. So, yes, if you cast Laurel in a show, expect a big spike in viewership for that episode. Then it's up to you guys to keep us coming back, eh?

Hmm, unfortunately, if you look at the ratings episode discussion thread here we've been discussing ratings, it doesn't appear there was any kind of spike in viewers which is very disappointing :(.
That said, I hope you'll watch again next week, it really is a great show and I think unique too which is a good thing. Once you get to know the characters better I'm sure they'll grow on you too. I'll be interested in seeing what you have to say after watching next week :) hope I'm right and you enjoy it.
BTW – I'm not directly associated with the show, I just run this site :)

Hi again,
About the ratings … they could turn around, maybe you didn't have a good lead in? In any case, I don't think casting Laurel (or anyone other than a mega-star) on your show can turn around bad ratings. But way more people watched last night than would have had she not been on the show. Of that I'm certain.
Thanks for your good work running the site!

Ms. Laurel Holloman's performance was so great! Once again she showed us how amazing actress she is and there's no question about it. Two thumbs -up for Ms. Holloman and more power to the cast and crew of Castle .17

i watched Castle since season 1 and i loved it…i liked that it's not just about crimes but also has humor in it, and the concept is great…when i found Laurel was going to be on it, it was very exciting because i think she is very talented…great pick, though i wish her role was bigger

Well, I for one watched the show for the first time last night because Laurel was on it. I can tell you that there were many people all around the world that watched that episode for the first time last night because of her, so maybe you need to check the ratings again. I thought Laurel did a great job but agree the part was very short. It seemed to me that the episode really revolved around only Nathan and Stana's characters. Is this the same in all episodes or do you have other guests with an actual story line associated with them?
I will watch another episode so that I can judge it on more than one viewing, but I have to say that it didn't really grab me from the start.

Well done Laurel! – The part was small but she did a great job.
She should have had more screen time (doesn't she always) for instant I would have loved to seen what happened in the investigation room near the end or something. I would also have loved to see her reaction when she found out her husbands body was missing.
I'm like many a first time viewer of the show and I'm coming back….
