Posted this elsewhere, but thought I'd start a new topic. Best of luck to him.  Bet this is why Terri was bummed the other day….

Castle executive producer/co-showrunner Rene Echevarria has departed the ABC dramedy series after not being able to reach a new deal with producer ABC Studios. Echevarria co-ran Castle with creator/executive producer Andrew W. Marlowe this season, which saw the quirky mystery show establish itself as ABC’s most promising new hourlong series in years. Castle’s ratings rise in the current second season earned the Nathan Fillion starrer an early renewal for next fall. Marlowe will now be the series’ sole showrunner. Echevarria, who co-created/executive produced USA’s 4400 and  executive produced Medium when it ran on NBC has several projects in the hopper, including the MTV pilot Teen Wolf, on which he serves as an executive producer.

While it's sad to see people leaving this season introducing some fresh perspectives can also be a good thing. It'll be interesting to see what other changes to the crew may be in store for season 3

re that article though, while Rene was an exec producer & writer for season 2, as far as I'm aware the only showrunner is Andrew so I'm not sure why they're crediting him for that…

I think that was Rob Bowman.

That's too bad.  He wrote When the Bough Breaks, which was so awesome…and episode 223 coming up….and obviously had a nice hand in this great Season 2.  I haven't followed a show like this before…is it common to have turnover between seasons like this?  Was there a change in the Castle team from Season 1 to Season 2?

Best of luck to him!

Yup, that was Rob Bowman.

Yup, it's quite normal for crew to turnover between seasons.  There were a few changes between seaons 1 and 2, infact if I remember rightly both Jose & Rene came to Castle for season 2.

I'm sad to see him go as well. I wish him the best but to be purely selfish I wish he wasn't going. Sad

Yes, there was. Two co-executive producers from season 1, Harry Werksman and Gabrielle Stanton didn't continue in season 2, they were replaced by Jose Molina (who also has left recently) and Terri Miller.

Thanks for the insight.  I agree with Admin, let's see what other changes come with Season 3.

I posted in the other thread but it's worth repeating here. It's sad to see him go and I wish him the best of luck.

When the Bough Breaks is one of my favorites and I've been looking forward to Overkill since he wrote that one as well.

I agree while it's sad to see some leaving some new voices can be a good thing too.

Best of luck to him.  It is sad to see him go, but it also sounds like he's got some good stuff in the hopper. All the best Rene!  Wave

Well, this is a bummer.  Seriously, what's wrong with ABC? Echevarria whatever his capacity was on the show helped to make it the success it has become. And they're letting him go just like that? I want more details…

Good luck to Mr. (?) Echevarria on his new projects.

I hate to see him go but as long as we still have Marlowe the show will still have the grounding it needs to remain on course. I agree that introducing some new people might bring in some new ideas. I also don't want to see them stray too far from the fromula that is working, but I still think Marlowe can keep that under control.

Aw When the Bow Breaks was my first episode! Like y'all have said, though, while it's too bad he's leaving, it will be interesting to see some new perspectives.
