Haha yeah even better. Would the bad guy give away his presence like that? Probably not. Should make for some funny… and yes, I agree, 5 and 6 were a bit better than 4, thought there is still much (much!) room for improvement.

There are a lot of name connections, some are very funny, like Judge Simpson – you know who plays the judge in Castle don't you?

Yeah I had gotten that one. He was Hoarse Simpson because the actor does the voice for Homer Simpson lol

I posted this to another forum, but there's only one other girl talking to me about it. :(

You know, I'm noticing a lot of people are freaked out by the ending. NOT ME. The whole time she's walking around naked, I'm thinking, "Rook is going to show up. Rook is going to show up right the hell now." And then right as she's coming around the corner, someone's in the apartment? I mean, it's gotta be Rook, right?

I have a hard time believing it's an actual dangerous intruder. First of all, Castle (as the author) has her walking around naked. That's comical. I don't see him setting the wrong mood for an attack. Setting the mood is very important in a story, and I think Castle has a good grip on that. If he was going to have her be attacked, she'd be dressed.

Second of all, a criminal intruder is not going to go around opening her soda cans. They'd be more discreet, and they'd have more on their minds than stealing her lemon-lime. But Rook? I see him breaking into someone's apartment (especially if it's Heat) and helping himself to her refreshments.

Now, that settled, I think the only questions are — how long has he been there, what are his intentions, and does he know she's naked or is that going to be a pleasant surprise for him? ;D

Then again, Darci pointed out that the person who killed her mother did do that open-the-soda-can thing. So while I don't think it IS that guy (as that was ten years ago and I find it much more likely that Rook is just helping himself to her fridge), Nikki is definitely going to jump to that assumption. She'll at least make that connection and rip Rook a new one (if that is him), not only for invading her privacy but for bringing up something so terrible. He of course won't understand what she's so upset about. This might be the chance for her to tell him what happened, or it will at least be an instance where Rook gets an inkling, but he doesn't get the full story from her just yet. He'll get an idea, and it might prompt him to push her in the next few chapters.

You know, actually, now I think of it, if Nikki DOES make the connection to her mother's murderer, do you think she'd bother going and getting dressed before confronting him? I mean, she's a hardened cop, after all. She might just be that agressive that she don't care if she's naked, she'll go after the guy, haha. Then she'll see Rook and be like "Oh sh–." XD
