I don't think ABC could have dreamed it would make the NYT best seller list and then rise as high as it did. Hope the next one does well!

I think it will hit the NYT List! I mean, with 10.86 million viewers, and most us of read, it makes sense.

Becklers do it with the beckle on.

I really hope the next book is longer!

I just reread Heat Wave and have to say it is a pretty good little book.  As to characters, Det. Beckett really should be flattered by the book, Castle wrote her Nikki Heat alter ego as a real kick ass detective, taking down guys left and right, a very savvy and smart detective as well as a great leader of her unit.

ABC could have a real good thing here, James Patterson has published god knows how many Alex Cross Novels, JD Robb has published at least 20 of the In Death series, etc.  A NYT best seller, plus it hasn't even hit the paperback ranks yet.

And Heat Wave is still in the bestseller list, 5 weeks among the top 15 (number 14 now), and more than that on the top 35. I, Alex Cross, by James Patterson, went straight to number 1, though…

I wish I knew how to quit you.

I just bought Heat Wave as an audiobook.  The book itself is great but geez….the reader is horrible.  He reads description as though he's a contract lawyer and recreates dialog with all the personality of a box of spaghetti.  This is a shame as the book has same witty repartée that makes the series so fun.  The reader sounds like he 'doesn't get it' as he drones through the text.

I guess this audiobook is good evidence of just how important Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion are in handling the dialog but a good voice actor (eg – Dick Hill) would bring personality to the audiobook as well.  Having heard Nathan reading another book, I'm surprised that the decision-makers don't get him to do the reading.  What better way to have an audiobook of Rick Castle's novels than to have Rick Castle read them?

BTW, I'm old, and outside the "important" demographic, but I love Castle.

Cheers — Larry

Funny you should mention Dick Hill – I've never heard one of his books, but I used to chat with him in a chat room many years ago.

The problem with Nathan reading the book – while it would be totally awesome, he's already working such long hours making the tv series…there's just no time for him to put into an audio recording as well.

Talk about being late to the party. I guess in this case, the party's already way over just as I arrived. Laugh  I was finally able to borrow a copy from the library after being waitlisted (on two library systems, might I add) for so long. I was looking forward to finishing it before the two-parter, but oh well. It's okay. At least, I got it before "Naked Heat" comes out…

Ditto!  I waited 3 months for a copy and finally got one yesterday. Read it in about 5 hours. So many scenes and quotes mirror the show it was if I'd already read it before. Talk about your deja vu!  One thing that really confused me is the acknowledments at the end though (yes-I actually read those!). Castle thanks all of the actors in the series by name. Just a little circular logic to scramble my brain.Laugh

I'm definitely way behind on this lol I got Heat Wave from the library and basically read it in one day! I can't help but think of the characters on the show when reading it.  Definitely a page turner for me.  Just took out Naked Heat from the library today ad read a few chapters so far.
