Yeah, Promises was a more recent one.  It was a darker than others.  I'd start at the beginning to see the evolution of the relationships and characters.  And there is quite a bit of humor in some of the books.

I just started reading Naked In Death and it is good (so far). I agree you should start with the first book because I didn't Doh.

I picked up Salvation In Death because it was the only one the local drug store had and I had a hard time getting through it. As a matter of fact, I didn't even get through it yet. However I ordered NID via amazon and it's going gangbusters.

I will eventually get back to Salvation… and maybe it will flow better now that I know more of that universe.

NYPD. Open the damn door!

I LOVE these books. I don't know- there's just something about the characters. And the dialogue. I really do recommend them to anyone.

Stana with her leather jacket DOES totally fit the description. The hair, I think, would be a different color…or a lighter shade? Man, though- I read these books out of order, too, but what I read left me clamoring for more, and I think I MUST own them all, although I don't know where they all are right now. :(

Nora Roberts rocks. However, movies of her books just never work for me.They always carve up the book so badly the flavor is lost. She has a fondness for the Irish and a lot of her books deal with Irish characters. Her J.D.Robb books are great if you crave a tough, sexy female cop. I like them just fine. tyvm.

I can't say I'm overly engrossed in these books, I personally don't find Eve the slightest bit likable.

My Cat does however find them a very comfortable place to sleep :)

I'm using the Castle-free week to read the first In Death book, wow, it's totally dragging me in. The atmosphere is addictive. Thanks for the recommendation! Now I know how to survive the Olympics. And summer.

I wish I knew how to quit you.

I just had the thought to check the J.D Robb website- and there's a new book on its way! "Fantasy In Death", on Feb 23rd. There's a nice sneak peak (bit longer than I feel like they should be, but eh), and it sounds good (not surprisingly!).
