Hey

 

Does anyone know anything about the next book?  I figured they would do one a season (about one a year, which is about what most prolific authors do (ahem, charlaine harris).  But thus far this season (other than nikki heat) there hasnt been much about his writing, and that kinda makes me worried.

Yeah I was just refering to when Castle proposed the idea of basing his next book on Nikki/Rook working with an FBI agent during "Tick, Tick, Tick" and Jordan and Beckett just glared at him

yes, i believe it did, and heat wave is/was on the best sellers list at some point.  and the reviews seemed to be good.

Both books sold well if I recall and as long as the books continue to sell well, ABC will be very happy and encourage the creation of more books. Anything that can make Castle make money for ABC they will like. So, I think / guess we will get another book.

The Federal Heat mention cracks me up every time. ROFL

The books sold really well. Heat Wave peaked at 5 or 6 I believe and Naked Heat debuted at 7 on the NYT List.

I saw Castle post the following on his facebook page the other day:

Wanna know the name of my next Nikki Heat novel? "HEAT RISES." Now all I need is a story.

Story's in progress. I've got most of the elements… just have to weave the tale.

I'm really hoping for a story where Nikki and rook come across a connection to the people behind her mother's murder and really sticks it to them.  This could be what he means by the Heat Rising – she gets the courage to look deeper into the murder.  Unlike in the TV show, Rook and Nikki have never really looked into the murder of Nikki's mother.  We don't really know if it was ever solved or if the person who did it was ever caught. And coming on the heels of that ep the other night, it's not hard to imagine Castle being inspired to write a Nikki Heat story based on Johanna Beckett's murder and Kate's search for the killer.

Either that, or Rook and Nikki's relationship really gets steamy.  As if that was possible!  Laugh
