OfflineI belong to a book club, as do most of us I think, but we sold all the wishy washy stuff to second hand book stores, and filled up our book club stock with more James Patterson's, Michael Connely's and of course a Richard Castle book. Have introduced the girls to Naked Heat.
We have also introduced movie night once a month, and are watching the DVD's of Castle season 1 and 2 so that those who don't know about Castle yet, (amazingly there are some people who have been living lost in the world), they take the DVD out like a book. We expect an honest review when the DVD's are returned each month.
Needless to say those evenings end very late because there is so much to discuss. Just doing our bit to keep things Castle.

Have you added Jonathan Kellerman to that list? LOVE his books. And F. Paul Wilson too – a little bizarre, but a good series.
I just started Heat Wave on my lunch break. It's all I can do not to shut my office door and ignore work to keep reading.

Hi Fruit Loop, most definitely have Jonathan Kellerman books. Thye are great. We have quite a few Kathy Reich's books too. I wont get them started on Bones until we all have OCD.

OfflineFor a real twist on murder mysteries, read the Bryant and May books by Christopher Fowler. Set in modern day London, the two detectives work for the Peculiar Crimes unit of Scotland Yard and get all the freaky cases. Really cool stuff if you like to have a side of history or some cool facts with your mystery.
Other mystery recomendations:
Arthur Conan Doyle – SHerlock Holmes (of course!)
PD James Adam Dalgleish series – modern day London
Anne Perry William Monk series – Victorian London
Anne Perry Thomas Pitt series – Victorian London
Dorothy Sayers Peter WImsey books – 1920s England
Agatha Christie Miss Marple books
Ellis Peters Cadfael series – England in the 1100s
Susanna Gregory Matthew Bartholomew series – Cambridge England during the Black Plague
Castle books – loved them!
I'm also reading/rereading:
Jane Austen – read all her novels once a year
LOTR – read it every year – it created the fantasy genre
Michael Scott The Alchemist Series – the new one just came out – The Warlock – fantasy
The Virginian by Owen Wister – the book that started the Western genre – the character reminds me of Malcolm Reynolds

OfflineI just recently finished a book titled Detective: The Inspirational Story of the Cop Who Wouldn't Quit by Kathy Burke. It's a great read if you're looking into learning more about what it means to be a real NYPD detective. I highly recommend it, so long as you don't mind detailed descriptions of some gory scenes.
For those who are curious: Picked it up at a secondhand bookstore. Was in the Bargain section for only $1. (As result, only paid $1.08 for a hardcover novel over 300 pages long.) Even not knowing price, it was calling my name, for quite a few reasons.

This is what I'm reading now too. Read Heat Wave Tuesday and picked up Naked Heat yesterday. I need to slow down, this is it for my Castle fix until September. LOLI read Water for Elephants a couple of months ago. It was really good!

OfflineI finished all of Tess Gerritsen's Rizzoli and Isles books and am eagerly awaiting the next one to come out this summer. If you're a fan of murder mysteries I highly recommend them. And she writes some pretty darn sick and twisted villains too.
At the moment, I'm reading a non-fiction book about the US ambassador who was appointed Ambassador to Germany in the early 1930s as Hitler and the Nazis began their reign of terror against the Jews. Satisfies the US history buff in me until more Castle or Tess Gerritsen books come out.

OfflineI'm currently re-reading all of the Kay Scarpetta series by Patricia Cornwell. I'm up to Black Notice right now. I have to say though, I'm not a fan of the 2 or 3 books that don't have Benton Wesley in them, so I'm looking forward to getting to Blow Fly so he can rise from the dead. [Image Can Not Be Found]

She was my favorite author for years. But after Benton died and she stopped being the CME for Viriginia…she kind of lost me. I still read all the books though.
