OfflineSince the show is broadcast on ABC this year, I hope ABC will run commercials for Castle. I wonder if they will have Nathan and/or Stana do any introductions or such during the show or even just attend in the audience and show them on camera. Usually the network that is hosting the Oscars uses the event to give exposure to the networks TV shows since it is such a large viewing audience, usually by having one of their TV stars do an introduction or something. They usually don't have them read the nominations, that wouldn't make any sense, but they have them introduce the person (s) who will read the nominations. If you watched the Grammy's it was kind of weird to have Simon Baker from the Mentalist introducing a band, but his show is on CBS.
Too bad Michelle Monaghan didn't get nominated for Best Actress, it would have made sense for Nathan to introduce the person reading the B/A nominations. Well I guess I'll just have to watch.

OfflineI'm sure there will be at least one commercial considering Castle comes back to new episodes the next day. I'm looking forward to it!

OfflineTo completely rehash what they've said, it makes sense. Look at what CBS did with their network promotions for How I Met Your Mother during the Superbowl. Based on just a hunch, I think that the Academy Award demographic is very well suited to Castle, and advertising could attract many more fans. However, the sporadic release of new episodes (and the 2-week break until the 2-day ep) makes it difficult for new fans to hitch on. Re-runs have been doing solidly (http://tvbythenumbers.com), and it looks like we'll be seeing a renewal press release for this show in May!

OfflineAh, great idea that totally makes sense, m_hanh. I just had another thought  Wouldn't Nathan make a great awards show host? Maybe not now of course, since he's got the show occupying most of his time and an upcoming movie, but he can sing, he can dance a little, and he's got such a witty sense of humor. Wouldn't that be so unbelievably shiny?!

OfflineIf they run only one ad for Castle, I hope it's a long one. One especially cut (like those special Super Bowl commercials) for the occasion. Something along the lines of the "Castle Starter Kit" they did a while back. Brings the new(er) viewer up to speed and leading into the 2 part special.
That would be shiny indeed.

OfflineGreat idea nalissa2! A starter kit is exactly what they need to do! New viewers would totally get into it and the fans would totally eat it up! I approve this idea. lol.

OfflineLove your idea Nalissa2 (and your avatar!). I think the show has such potential to grow viewers, they just need to do it in a big way and the academy awards and the 2 part episode are just the places to do it. I am so disappointed in the advertisement they give (or actually don't give) on a weekly basis. A "starter kit" would be great.
ABC keeps comparing the potential of the show to Bones, and Bones didn't hit the high viewership until season 4…hopefully Castle won't have to wait that long!

I don't think Castle will have to wait that long to hit the higher viewership. It's doing great so far.
I have no doubt the success will continue.

OfflineWell, that was a disappointing night. No Castle promo and an Avatar snub (I'll leave the complaining about the latter for another venue).

There was a 45 second promo at the end of The Oscar's, like as soon as the winners were replayed – so chances are a lot of people seen it!
And it's already up on youtube!!
