i think i'm the only one who is perfectly fine with them never being together.

From my perspective, Beckett could never take a chance on Castle just because there is no way she can trust him.  With him going behind her back on her mother's case, his flings with the deep fried twinkie, and his constant flirtation with any and all women, it would be very against her defensive nature to ever give him a chance.  The nature of what he does would also put her in a place she doesn't want to be; the spotlight.  Inspiration for a new MC, that she can handle.  Add wife/significant other to the mix and that is a recipe for disaster imo.

Although i think they would make a great pair, i think the long term implications would end up with a relationship destined for failure.  It would also negatively affect her job performance, as there is no way she'd be able work as effectively with him if they were in a relationship.  i couldn't work with my wife, and i just have a desk job… make it where we could be put into a life or death situation at any given moment due to a twist in a case, and too many factors might impair judgment.

Just my thoughts on the matter.  i think that either way, the writers and actors will be able to pull off the direction well.

I don't agree with you  but I just had to say I really appreciate the thought and effort you put into that reply. Looking forward to more of your posts.

Personally I'd like to see Castle and Beckett get together, but not too soon. IMO, it depends on the writing whether even married pair is fun to watch or not. I'm pretty sure that these writers will be okay and we won't be disappointed smile But before Castle and Beckett get together, I'd love to see the "heat of the moment" situation and how they're going to deal with it…

agree, the dance is so much fun to watch, but just a few hot moments would be kinda nice, eh?  Looks like there are a few hopeless romantics in this crowd, me included, so the pace is good but can get a little frustating.  How about a date (but not really a date); a hug-me moment, a "you look so hot" moment; more parties and dancing!  We really need a turning point moment to get these two to acknowledge their mutual attraction and move forward

I get the feeling audience support will dictate the terms of the relationship, despite appearances and disclaimers to the contrary from the producers. By this I mean, strong, all-out peaks of support and audience interest, not just die-hards. If the it peaks quick, and in the episodes that play up that aspect and these will usually come in waves, for as you've seen in eps 3 to 5, they were more relationship-intense -or be forced to move the ball forward. If it remains steady throughout, they'll be in no hurry to unravel.

It is really tough from a writer's perspective to measure the ebb and flow of what the viewers want to see and what you want them to want to see.

The mystery itself maintains a certain tension.

Who knows, there could even be a little distraction or rival thrown into the mix to increase the heat a little?

See, if they do the rival distraction thing, I think they need to relegate that to a few episodes this season. They can't stretch that out (imho) without people losing interest. It appears that we'll get just that with the show apparently trying to cast Castle's long lost love but again, I personally wouldn't watch multiple seasons of back and forth. I've done that with many shows over the years and I'm just kind of over it. There comes a point where you just want a resolution even if the outcome wasn't that you were hoping for.

God, I totally over think stuff like this! Doh

Personally, I believe many balls have been dropped in storylines.  Beckett's mother's murder is forgotten.  I think that is a huge mistake.  There were so many ways this could have played out—but her little references in two epi's have been met with no reply and no other discussion.  I am disappointed.  Also, Will is forgotten as well.  Last we saw him he was recouping and it looked like they would reconnect and now not even a reference about Will.  I think it is odd.  If he left her again I think we need to know that.  If she said NO to him we really need to know that too.  Then there is the Heat Wave book.  Did Beckett even finish it?  What did she think about it?  We don't know.  It has been left out of these last episodes.  I am curious—-Castle hasn't even asked anymore.

I think their future relationship needs stoking now.  We can not assume any season beyond this one.  THe references to other shows and the love interests hooking up too soon just don't fit for me.  The sexiest crime show in the last 25 years was Hart to Hart and they were married.  I loved it!  The writers haven't won me over this season.  I am not sure they can write a good relationship that can sustain.  I am not seeing the development that keeps and holds your interest.  They play up some hint of chemistry between Castle and Beckett and then it all but disappears for several episodes.  In my view they really need to move these two into showing their true feelings because it is going too slow right now.  Forget 4 seasons down the road—-season two needs punched up!

Beckett's mother's murder is not forgotten. We're going to find out more about it probably early next year, as I've found out recently that Robert Picardo, who played "Doctor Death" in the last episode of the first season was called back for "Castle". I hope that this time Kate is going to talk to him…

I disagree that the murder of KB's mother has been forgotten. No, they haven't devoted episode after episode to it, however, the undertones have still been there. I do think that they have every intention of "going there" in coming episodes.

I do agree with you that they need to move Castle & Beckett forward, however, I actually do think they'll be doing just that… especially as they delve deeper in to her mother's murder. While I wasn't a huge fan of last week's episode, I absolutely don't feel as though they have dropped the ball. The upcoming episode looks like it will be great.

I really think this show has the potential to go several more seasons

By looking at the sales of the book, it probably will go far in print as well

smile

Look at the Monk series as an example

There were Farscape and Stargate conventions a week ago in the same hotel in LA. Robert Picardo was one of the guests there (he played Woolsey on Stargate SG-1/Atlantis) and in one of the reports from the cons I've read that he said during Sunday Breakfast while talking to people at their tables that he was called back for "Castle".

I've just edited my previous post adding a link to this particular report, and correcting the hour.
