According to this article from the Hollywood Reporter:
http://www.hollywoodreporter.c…..4672389855
Castle has been cut from 13 episodes to 10.

"Sources close to the network stress that the cutbacks are not for creative but for inventory reasons, as ABC has 'Lost' as well as six new scripted series launching in midseason . . ."

I guess that's not too bad. When I saw the link, I was afraid it would be down to six or something. They can always order more later.

Could be worse but should we rally the troops or something? Feel like I should be fighting. That's the browncoat spirit.

It's probably too early to start the letter-writing, right?  {#emotions_dlg.laughing}

I'd imagine the best thing we could do is draw attention to the show.  I've been talking about it at my blog and a couple communities over at livejournal, for what that's worth. ha ha

ABC what are you doing? Do you not know the immense talent of Nathon Fillion and how much of a following he has? Just picking up a show with im in it will guarantee you huge ratings, and yet you already are cutting back episodes?? You guys have to give your heads a shake, and don't do what FOX did with his now immortalized show Firefly, which has more fans than even Star Trek.

Be wise early on, and order a full season of Castle, you will be amazed at the fan support just because you landed a show with Nathan in it.

If I understood the article correctly, it sounded like it was simply a "we need to cut some money from the budget" decision, not a creative one. (Money's tight everywhere…) I don't think we need to worry about them canceling it yet.

You've got to be kidding! The only show I'm in the least interested in for next year and they're cutting the number of episodes. What's the matter with ABC? I have to have a Nathan fix soon!

This just sucks! But I do agree that we shouldn't panic yet.

I'm just letting people know and trying to get them to come here and let the borad know how much they are looking forward to seeing Nathan on the small screen again. God knows that's the onlythink I'm looking foward to for this TV season – well, other than maybe Dollhouse. God would it be great to get Nathan and Joss back together.

Well certainly, the more people talking about the show, the better!

I'm looking forward to Dollhouse, too. I really hope Castle doesn't end up being aired opposite it, that would be irritating (especially considering that Dollhouse just got awarded the Friday Night Timeslot of Doom).

There's definitely no call to panic.  It's not a Castle-targetted decision.  The networks are having to cut their budgets, as I understand it there's been a 2% across the board cut of prime time programming.

Best we can do is get the word out that the show is going to be great and if you know anyone with a Nelison box – make them watch the show live!  Unfortunately networks consider these ratings more important than anything else and loyal fans or not, if you don't have a ratings box tracking your viewing habbits you've got little influence in keeping a show on the air.

Spread the word, tell people about this website, encourage them to come here and post on the forums and if anyone visits message boards, use one of the banners we have available in your forum signature, or post them on your blog or website.  When you post the banners, feel free to hotlink (I know this is normally what people ask you NOT to do) because that way when I update the banners your images will automatically be updated too.  Eg.  I'm about to change the “coming in 2009″ to Stars Jan 7th).  It also helps me track where the word is getting out.

I'll do my best to see that the “Powers that Be” see that there's interest in the show via this website.

I'm merely posting here to say "I'm already a watcher" even if it means I'm a Tivo'er…I'll be watching Nathan Fillion, I mean Castle. Hurray for Nathan.

Truthfully, as a huge fan of Nathan Fillion, I have to give the man a great amount of respect for his acting ability. From Saving Private Ryan to the greatly supported Firefly, the man is truly ana amazing actor. I would hate to see another show get jerked out from underneath him. I think between Firefly, though we did get our BDM (You can never stop the signal Browncoats;Cool&nbspwink, and Drive, I kindly would like to suggest that the man's face may be getting a little sore from landing on it, and such a ruggedly handsome face it is. So if anything is being done, other than ABC just cutting back on the number of episodes per season, to pull it from the air I'm hoping that someone will give more information. So that we, the fans, do not get blindsided by any sudden cuts from our monday night ABC lineup and so that we may start lobbying earlier than we did for previous shows so that we may save this one if needbe. For Nathan's sake of course.Laugh

There's nothing to be concerned about – this thread is from last year, before season 1 aired and some shows, including Castle had a reduced number of episodes due to the enconomic crisis.

Ah thank you. I sure feel a little foolish, just didn't like hearing that I may lose another show. Thank you for clearing that up for me.
