I realize this post was for Season 1, but do we know how many eps were ordered for Season 2?

I was quite concerned last year that ABC would axe Castle–it seems to be the fate of all my favourite shows–and I'm curious to know how committed ABC seems to be this year…

I believe it's 13 with an optional 9 – which is a pretty standard order as far as I know

We should know by the middle of November if ABC orders the back 9 or not. It's possible they announce something sooner but most decisions are made around that time with bubble shows.

Let's hope the ratings will improve by the time the decision is going to be made. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the "Heat wave" book now being in the market will help to boost "Castle" ratings.

This is for season 2 Deb – not season 1. Currently we've got an order of 13 eps, 8 or so of which have been filmed already, but there's an option for ABC to order a further 9 episodes to add to season 2.

ABC has given full season orders to Cougar Town, Modern Family, The Middle, and Flash Forward now. I think the only shows in question are what are considered the bubble shows.

I think the next news we hear from ABC will be what shows are not going to make it. Hank, The Forgotten, and Eastwick come to mind first. It's possible they keep us Castle fans waiting til the last minute.

As I said earlier, I'm fairly sure right from the beginning the information was that a decision wouldn't be made about the back 9 until most of the eps have aired (as someone else said, some time in Nov) so I don't think we need to read anything into the fact that no announcement has been made on it yet

You're right. I was just pointing out that the shows that were renewed already are not really a surprise. The next news will probably be what shows are not going to get the back order. Or it's possible we hear if ABC is going to change the lineup before yanking something. I only meant that out of all the bubble shows we'll probably hear about Castle last.

I saw that as well. Flash Forward I must say I'm really enjoying as well right now.

But Castle has a lot of dedicated viewers which is great, so we'll see what happens.
