Wow!  That would be something.  Others have touched on the possibility that the Mayor who granted Castle access to the NYPD in the first place would somehow be involved in Johanna's murder.  It will be interesting to see how they move forward with both storylines, if they bring back the Mayor at all.

Wow! What a storyline this would be. There really are SO many possibilities for this.. I can't wait to see how the rest of Johanna Beckett's case unfolds. It's absolutely fascinating.

yeah it doesn't have to be Bob but someone that could force Castle to stop shadowing Beckett.  It would have a great dynamic all around.  Up until now, what has kept these two apart is each other but what if they are ready to commit and 'BAM!' someone else has a hand in keeping them apart and their relationship can't be made public.

The story lines would be amazing.  He would have to still go to parties and what not but she woudln't be able to go with him.  His pic with a woman on his arm in the paper and jealousy and doubt and working through that.  They would really have to trust each other.

I would still be pulling for Martha to tell Castle's Biological father off and it woudl be again poetic justice that the man that ordered the death of Johanna, was one in the same.  The whole karma aspect and the belief in 'magic'.

Maybe this would be final season twist but I love the idea.

Here is the scenario.

Election year and Bob is the guy that gave Castle permission to shadow Beckett.  Bob's rival wins the election but he's got some secrets, namely an intense dislike for Castle that no one can explain and he cancel's Castle's all access card to the NYPD 12th. 

Beckett and Castle still work cases, but just on the sly and something more comes up in her mom's murder.  They start following the trail and since Castle can't be with her all the time, copies of the entire file are at his loft.  He sets up a murder board of his own on Beckett's mom.  They find out the current mayor who has no love for Castle has a shady past and a few missing pieces.  Come to find out that the new Mayor is the 'Sleeping Dragon' that actually ordered the hit on Beckett's mom.  And it does all come down to one case where her mom's digging and tenacity was going to prove the intensely shady dealings of the now new mayor to everyone.  But lo and behold, he also had a one night stand with a very impressionable young actress about 40 some odd years ago.

Just a thought and a very weird six degrees of separation that his actions from 40 yrs ago would be his downfall because those actions brought about Castle.  And without Castle, Beckett would have never started going down that road to finding her mother's killer again.

That would be a story arc!

That would be a good story arch, but idk if that would work on Castle, like the idea tho.

Oh my… I hadn't seen this topic before. Your theory gave me chills. I would LOVE for that to happen. That would certainly be interesting in regards to the C&B relationship. That would be a very dark arc, but with a lot of potential. The feeling of guilt Castle would have to deal with vs the way Beckett would react and how much of an impact it would have on their relationship. Good storytelling.
