OfflineHaven't seen anyone post about this anywhere yet, so I thought I would here. I'm sure Beth is either sleeping, eating, or just recovering from her crazy day.
I was lucky enough to volunteer and even luckier to be asked to host the trivia challenge(s) and I had a blast doing that. Also, because we were a relatively small crowd (under 100, I think), we got some great time with the talent who were there. The Q&A with Terri and Andrew was lots of fun and entertaining. They were wonderfully warm and funny and took the time to thoughfully answer the questions that we asked.
While waiting for Terri and Andrew to come in for the autograph session, I got the chance to meet and speak to both Jon and Séamus. Both were warm and funny, and it turns out that Jon and I were both in related units in the Air Force at about the same time. He even said, "Wow, that was a while ago, and I would have guessed you were younger than I am." He's such a smooth talker. And oh, does he smell nice! Again, a pleasure to meet both men.
I asked both Terri and Andrew to sign my script of the pilot episode, and when Terri asked why I wanted her to sign it, I said because A) I was sure she had done at least one pass on the final before it aired, and B) because she is a writer whom I admire. That seemed to please them both (though it was only the truth), and then Andrew paid me a nice compliment, he asked me about my writing and my books, which was great. Even better, he took the time to listen to my answers (which I took care to keep short!). Very nice, both of them.
Later was the Q&A with Jon, Séamus, and Tamala. That was a riot. While they were waiting for everyone to line up with their questions, Séamus decided he had a question for Jon, and then it went on from there. The three clearly genuinely like each other and just as clearly enjoy their work. They traded stories and we all laughed a great deal. It was nice that the questions to them (as with the ones to Terri and Andrew) were thoughtful and respectful. Eventually, we ran out of questions, so Jon decided to "take the mic to the crowd" and simply hanging the mic in front of someone and saying, "What's your question?" If that person didn't have one, he whispered one to them as a prompt.
And…best for last, buy the DVD that the site will have available just to hear Tamala do her Diana Ross impression. Loads of fun.
Well done to the CTV team for putting this together and keeping us organized and on track. A good time and worth the price of admission.

OfflineThanks for running the trivia! I had fun hoarding all of the stickers. haha
I was the one who totally blanked when Jon came up to me and held the mic in front of me. (But could you blame me? He had his hand on my shoulder and I just froze). And he whispered to me to ask what his middle name is.
Seamus, Jon, and Tamala have such amazing chemistry off screen. I was laughing for almost the entire panel. I cant even imagine what it would be like to be around them on set. And Terri and Andrew were just adorable.

OfflineI have to say the Castle convention was great. I was suprised that they were like only 80 fans. All really nice and friendly, some traveled from far like Germany, New York, Texas, some of us from "nearby". We had a blast. Because of the small group it was intimate, personal and just perfect for us. All the guests: Andrew, Terri, Jon, Séamus and Tamala brought so much fun energy. They were all really friendly and so nice to us. It was very relaxed and I loved it. Trivia, auctions. I loved that they took great photos of us and "the stars" and printed them so we could have them signed as well. I liked QandA. Andrew, Terri made us think and we ended with "pick the writters brain" attitude and easy going atmosphere was alway there. Later Jon, Séamus and Tamala took everything to the funniest level possible. Together they have a great chemistry and it was fun to watch and personaly experience it. I loved it.
My trip from LA got a little glitch on the Hollywood freeway. I got into a small three cars crash, because some people in LA can't drive when it's raining so they forget to brake and run into you. But I was in such a great mood that bunch of car scratches couldn't possibly take it away. Luckily nobody got hurt and cars are repairable boxes on wheels anyway. True, some cuter (like mine) that others. I actualy found it funny at one point because a signed script from the first Castle episode flew through my car and wacked me on the head ( I guess something is trying to tell me something…)
I'd like to thank to Andrew, Terri, Jon, Tamala and Séamus - they made Castle convention so special. Thanks goes to everybody else who made this event happen. I just had to show up and I'm very happy I did. I'm looking forward to more Castle conventions, more great episodes, more can't wait for Mondays and more everything Castle. THANK YOU

I bet it's the Alexis one that irked you. lol. That's the only tidbit I didn't like. But I love the fact that they have a general goal for the season (regarding Castle and Beckett) and about the will they/won't they. And also the 'always' coming soon.

Ya. Lol. I really dont know what goal do the writers have for her this season. She has become REALLY annoying, to me atleast. And not just becoz she is anti-caskett. Her arcs in this season has irked me no end and that includes the AA stooryline!!! That's it. I am done ranting. lol

OfflineAlexis is worried about her family. That doesn't mean she's anti-caskett. Infact I think she pretty much supports her dad and him pursueing Kate (as was proven in Rise). It's just that Alexis has also been through traumatic events and that might color her judgement, and since she's also at a difficult age, it might come out twice as hard as she means.
Edit: Molly just tweeted about it:
false, she will be true to herself, however she will find herself having to navigate more difficult situations.
See? That sounds more like it

OfflineUm, I was there all day and don't even remember Alexis' name coming up. I volunteered and was in both Q&A's, plus in and out of the autograph room a bunch of times. So unless it came up at the meet and greet, that Alexis bit doesn't ring true to me.
Not calling anyone out, just stating facts: I was there; I never even heard the character's name mentioned; while I cannot be everywhere, all the time, I didn't miss any Q&A bits.

It was said during the lunch meetings when Terri was visiting several groups.
There are several summaries about it on twitter already and I doubt anyone would make up the same story
(altho the Alexis spoiler was luckily taken out of context by one person).

OfflineI was there too and it's most likely that the bit about Alexis was mentioned during the meet and greet lunch. I also didn't remember anything about Esposito shooting anyone, but again, it could have come up in the meet and greet in a group other than the one I was a part of.
I plan on writing up a more formal report later, but here are a few tidbits I heard:
- Stana has the worst hours of any of the cast because she has to arrive on set earlier than anyone else for hair and makeup then is in most of the shots
- Seamus said he is not likely to attend Comic con next year because his wife and Jon's girlfriend weren't treated very well by the staff. There are two sides to every story, but he said they treated the ladies like groupies rather than as spouses/significant others.
- Terri and Andrew are open to going to Paley again
- Andrew said he'd rather have a 23 episode season instead of a 24 episode season, because as soon as episode 24 is in the can, he has very little time off before they have to start work on the next season.
- Jon's favorite movie is The Princess Bride (that was me who asked the question). Seamus teased that his was Booty Call, embarrassing Tamala.
- Andrew praised Stana's ability to convey so much emotion just using her eyes and the increased sophistication of her acting since season 1. He also praised Nathan's comedic timing.
- Tamala had auditioned for Hawthorne around the same time as she auditioned for Castle, and Jon had auditioned for Southland around the same time he had auditioned for Castle. He thought he had blown the audition. And Armyan Bernstein went to bat for Seamus to play Ryan saying "He's the guy! He's the guy!"
- Andrew said at any one time, he could have up to 8 episodes in his mind: a few in development, one in production, and another few in post-production. The challenge is to keep straight what moment from each episode builds on another and to keep them in order.
All in all, Seamus, Jon, Tamala, Andrew, and Terri were truly lovely people, very grateful for the fan support, very down-to-earth and fun.
I also got the chance to see them shoot a scene from an upcoming episode the night before the con, after one of the ladies I met said someone tweeted the address of the location they were at. So 4 of us made our way there, and met Jon. He took a picture with all of us, then went back to work. We watched them shoot for a little while longer: it was obviously a scene where the body is found and Lanie has to brief Castle, Beckett, Esposito, and Ryan on the likely cause of death. We tried to get Nathan's attention, but failed. The crew gave Tamala a surprise birthday cake (her b-day was the day of the con) and sang to her. When we got the feeling they had wrapped that location, we saw Nathan take off up the street on a scooter and decided to follow and see where he might have went. We then noticed Stana and Jon on the other side of the street and made our way over. Stana was chatting with some other fans and Jon was waiting with her. He saw us and one of the ladies asked if she'd take a picture with us. He said "Probably. Just ask her." At that moment, she turned around and one of the ladies told her we were in town for the convention. She added where we'd traveled from (me from Maryland, one from Texas, one from Ohio, and one from New York State) and she said "Geezy-peasy" and agreed to a photo, which Jon joined in on. I managed not to fangirl out all over her and worked up enough nerve to thank her for her work on the show and shake her hand (she had a nice firm hand shake) and was very gracious, saying the con sounded like fun, but she couldn't be there. Jon and Stana headed off to their trailers and after waiting around a bit more for Nathan, we headed in the direction they had gone in. We then noticed Tamala right in front of us carrying a bouquet of flowers. We got her attention and told her the same spiel we told Jon and Stana and she agreed to a photo without hesitation. She really could not have been sweeter.
What an amazing weekend! I'll post pictures soon.
