OfflineGuys, thanks for posting your adventures and info! I really liked the tidbits.
I was just browsing this sight and another Castle site on more info from the convention and found that Marlowe explained that "always" does in fact mean "I love you". Did you guys hear this as well? That is very exciting because I remember in a recent thread several of us were thinking out loud about the meaning and use of that word. Now, I wonder who says it next and in which episode.

I have a theory. Could be episode 12.
Gates throws castle out. Beckett brings castle back. Castle says Thanx. She says Always!!!

OfflineI have to give tremendous credit to Admin for a fantastic Castle convention this past weekend. Everything seemed really relaxed and to run smoothly, and the guests seemed to enjoy their time with fans as much as fans enjoyed their time with Andrew, Terri, Jon, Tamala, and Seamus. It was great to be able to get items autographed, have photos with the guests, and bid on some fabulous Castle and cast-related items, from the staircase artwork to signed scripts, little elephants signed by Stana, and Castle pictures signed by the whole cast. I ended up winning the pilot script signed by AWM, and I'll certainly enjoy having it, but it's even better that all of the auction proceeds went to the great charities of the guests' choice.
The meet and greet lunch was a special treat, and I spent around 10 minutes with each of the guests in a small group. It was in that setting that Tamala talked about what an honor the nomination for People's Choice was for cast and crew (and how much a win would mean to them). Jon asked our group about other favorite TV shows and talked about what's next with his music and plans for a variety-type show and music combined with some great visual stuff. Seamus talked about plans for vacation over theatre during coming breaks and some of the behind-the-scenes preparation required for certain scenes (as well as how much he hated the Elvis wig). Andrew and Terri were together with our group for a bit, and talked about how they came to write Cuffed together after they were asked to abandon the Christmas episode they had been writing together (due to initial plans not to show Castle in December). Andrew mentioned that writing together is pretty great because Terri's strength is the romantic comedy, and he has strong skills with the case elements. I saw on twitter yesterday that they will write together again because they enjoyed it so much.
The Q and A sessions were also completely enjoyable. There were great questions from the attendees, many of which the guests haven't been asked before or not as often as they get asked other questions. Terri and Andrew were completely adorable together, at times whispering to each other and smiling at each other, and there was such a nice play between them as they answered questions. Many of their answers were very long and thoughtful (writers block, getting into the business), and I especially liked hearing more about the genesis of the show and bringing Stana and Nathan together for the first time. They were very complimentary about Nathan's comedic timing and Stana's ability to bring the subtext to life. Yes, there was mention of the "Always" as a form of "I love you" and discussion about how sometimes the most common terms or lines of dialogue develop such significance. They felt the network were good partners to them, and they talked about the writer's room process whereby 3 or 4 writers (each with different strengths) are together to break a story so that they all have some ownership of the final product even though it is ultimately one writer's voice that predominates.
The afternoon Q and A with the cast was full of fun. They all have such a great rapport with each other, and it's obvious how much they respect each other and enjoy the company of the others. Since Nathan and Stana usually get the focus of the fans, it was really wonderful to see them be the center of attention. Each gave a detailed story about how they got their roles, their worst jobs (Seamus at 1-800-Dentist), their wishes for their characters this season (Seamus has had his fulfilled). It was difficult to see the line in which people with questions stood, so at one point when the line was empty, Jon went into the audience to ask questions (and feed questions if need be)…he was very funny.
I highly recommend purchasing the DVD for the convention when it becomes available…the sessions were really interesting and enjoyable, and I think the proceeds will be for charity as well.
Like Nev827, another fan from the board and I were fortunate enough to watch some of the taping for 4x11. The cast and crew were very gracious in allowing us to observe, although we were asked not to take pictures during filming. As someone curious about the behind-the-scenes stuff, it was fascinating to watch all the effort that goes into maybe 5 minutes of tape, and Castlegrip on twitter came over to chat for 20-30 minutes during a break as well (he's a great guy). Jon said hi a couple times walking by the small group in which I stood, but there were conflicting reports about whether anyone other than Jon and Seamus were taping that night. When I popped out for a quick dinner, Nathan, Stana, and Tamala showed up for rehearsal, so my friend and I missed a picture opportunity with them at that time. When they wrapped for the night (following everyone singing Happy Birthday to Tamala and another member of the crew), Stana and Jon walked by, but I felt badly that it was so late so I did not stop them. However, they got stopped by some other fans some way down the sidewalk on the way back to their trailers, so we ended up getting a picture with them as well. I didn't get a picture with Tamala, but was part of a small group that talked with her for about 15 minutes in between scenes…she is a sweet, lovely person, and so appreciative of the fans.
All in all, it was quite an amazing weekend.

- Seamus said he is not likely to attend Comic con next year because his wife and Jon's girlfriend weren't treated very well by the staff. There are two sides to every story, but he said they treated the ladies like groupies rather than as spouses/significant others.
Thanks so much for all the reports, greatly appreciated!
Not that it's important, but did this incident at Comic Con with their wife/gf happen at Comic Con 2010 or 2011?

OfflineJust a couple other things that have come to mind about the Q and A sessions. Andrew and Terri talked a lot about how important it has been to immerse the fans in the "world of Castle" in meaningful ways, from WriteRCastle on twitter to the Heat novels to the summer twitter mysteries. Andrew said that when he was a kid, he wanted to play in the sandbox of his favorite movies and they have been trying to give that opportunity to Castle fans. At lunch, someone asked about a Nikki Heat movie, and it sounds like the idea has been thrown around. He suggested it might be a fun summer TV movie, as he's always looking for ways to keep the fans engaged during the long hiatus.
Jon talked about the fact that Seamus might not have gotten the job if he had been there for the chemistry screen test. Two of Jon's friends (with whom he'd naturally have chemistry) were up for the role in addition to Seamus. But Jon was not there, and Seamus got the role.

Offlineoh wow, thank you both for the long report. If there is another convention next year I will definitely come, I love conventions, it's so nice to be with other fans. And my kid will then be old enough to survive without her mom for a week. I hope the DVD comes out soon and will be available to non-US citizens. Thanks everyone for the info and the pictures and everything

OfflineI don't have much else to add since I was with dmcw, and her experience was pretty much the same as mine. But it was a great experience, and I'm glad I attended. The auction was awesome and insane at the same time (I kept having to change my tweet during the auction because the bidding price of the signed poster kept going up!). There were a ton of rare things and items signed by the cast (including items signed by Stana and Nathan) that raised a ton of money for their charities. The Q&As for both the writers panel and the cast one were really informative, entertaining and enjoyable. Most of the questions were ones I hadn't heard before, and they gave really fun or informative answers to them.
During the photo session, Jon recognized me from being at the on location filming the night before and asked me if I had gotten enough sleep
Great job, Admin! I know it took a ton of planning, but I think everyone who attended had a great time. I hope that the Castle cast and crew who participated also enjoyed the experience.
For anyone who was there, please take a minute to fill in the feedback questionnaire, I tried to keep it simple. http://castleconvention.com/ca…..stionnaire

Offlinedmcw, I'm jealous you won one of the scripts. I was thinking of bidding on one, but really couldn't afford it what with the holidays coming. And I'd had to lay out more money for a photo and autograph with Tamala.
Nevertheless, I agree with everything dmcw said. Tamala was soooo sweet and Jon and Seamus were so down-to-earth I quickly forgot I was shooting the breeze with TV stars. I should also mention that while Jon was sitting with my little group, Tamala had finished all her group visits and came over to stand behind Jon's chair. While he talked to us, she flirtatiously stroked his cheek and his shoulders to the point where I complimented him on his focus. How he maintained his poker face during that I'll never know, but we all had a good laugh about it. Then it carried over into the afternoon q and a.
For any of you thinking of attending next year, if you can't afford a gold ticket, try to go to the meet and greet lunch, if they have one of those. The entire day was a blast, but the lunch was the highlight in my opinion, besides getting my photo taken with and meeting Stana the night before. I still get little goose bumps when I look at that photo. She didn't seem to have much time, or she was tired or just being shy, but she was still gracious and appreciative of our support. She even said "Cheers" like she does in so many interviews. Awesome!
And I made some new friends on top of everything else. Without a doubt, I'm glad I went. First trip I ever took on my own too.
