That is probably the BEST breakdown/analysis of this show and how relationships can work on television. I love how he shows that Castle is capable of giving is a long lasting committed relationship. I think that every nay sayer or anyone with doubts should read this and their minds will surely be changed.

Wow, what an interesting article.  He did such a good job of describing what we see each each week on our TV screen.  Kudos to Castle.

Wow, really interesting. I´m usually not a fan of all the analyzing (be it books, movies, tv shows, paintings….the list goes on) but this hits the nail on the head. Maybe someone should forward this to the writers, so they know they´re on the right path and to prevent them from falling into (unfortunately) well established patterns…

Thank you for the link dmcw! There were two parts of the article which came into my mind many times, mainly when the Moonlighting curse is mentioned anywhere:

I often suspect that Hollywood's inability to depict relationships that
grow over time has everything to do with the divorce rate in the
entertainment capital…(sip)

…contemporary writers seem incapable of writing such relationships –
could it be because they are twenty-somethings still recovering from
their first major breakup?

He has a very good grasp on how tv couples and relationships should be depicted.

It was a great read! Thanks for the link dmcw.

Great article!  So nice to see others appreciate the depth of which the writers have put into creating relationships that are ones we would and should try to develop in our own personal lives.  It's so nice to see lasting, meaningful relationships instead of these on-again, off-again versions that discourage relationships altogether.

Amazing article. And what a coinkidink I actually own and have studied that guy's book "convergence culture". <- which I can recommend as a good read if any one is interested in the depth of fan culture and the future of new media etc. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Great article this guys really gets the story and relationship that Castle and Beckett have going. He knows the writers on this show really know what they are doing and it is brilliant because they have created a background and friendship 1st and didn't just have beckett fall for him in one season. They have Taken the time and people have invested in that and we all hope there is A payoff that works for the show. I could understand any actor not wanting To risk messing up a good and steady gig. It can't be easy to have a good Show on they come and go all the time. It's nice to see someone acknowledge the writers and actors talent.

Nice article. I agree that a big part of the problems with committed relationships on tv today is the inability of the writers to do the relationships justice. I think that Castle will be different because the writers are already doing such a good job now.

definate kudos for posting this article. its great to know that someone is just as invested in this show as we are and we are also pulling apart the show for everything, watching for all the right moves and all the slip ups.

A good relationship regardless of who it is really depends on how the writer does his job. I know we live in a society that has more divorces than solid marriages that last. i hope that the writers of the show can live for becketts mantra of 'one and done" even if the person beckett wants to be with wasn't necessarily a one and done kind of person.

everything that i have seen in the show follows a natural progression of a relationship albeit the fact that C&B have only kissed once. I guess thats what keeps our eyes peeled to the tv thinking that we might see another kiss somewhere along the line ( i still tell the tv would you kiss her and get it over with again?!)

this is one of the reasons i find the show so fasinating. i am glad that even though C&B are the heart of the show they are putting the relationship on the back burner to showcase the other relationships between the characters. If it wasnt for our 'bromance' we wouldnt have such hilarious quips from ryan and esposito. If it wasnt for martha and alexis then we wouldnt have that 'family' relationship.

think of each character as a link on a chain and if the chain is broken then the link cant work together.
