Since we may get tweets or other articles and interviews from the Castle writers from time to time (Kate Sargeant has been tweeting about writer's room stuff since the writers returned), I thought it might be interesting to collect them in one place in case anyone wanted to discuss. Here's one from today on twitter:

I'm all over the place with my thoughts on this. Part of me wants Beckett to give Castle the cold shoulder for waltzing off with his hated ex-wife so suddenly….and I do like the angry banter. But that seems like a repeat of the season 2 opener.
And it's not Castle's fault…he thought she was involved with Tom.
Part of me wants to see her act on her discovered feelings a little and fight for him, although I assume she'd construe his leaving with Gina as a bad sign of his constancy and not be interested in this route. Plus, I want Castle to make it obvious to Beckett that he wants a romantic relationship if he does….after all, she tried to open up something already.
I'm dying to see how they handle this.

I can't decide what I think Beckett should do. There is really no one to blame, so I really don't have a yen to see anyone "suffer", or "pay" for what happened. There are so many ways they could play this out. I do know that I want Gina gone over the summer and not have to see her again. Whatever they decide, I would imagine that it will resolve itself rather quickly so we can get back to the heart of the show-Beckett and Castle working together.

If I were Beckett, first, I'd realize that there's no way Castle could have known I broke up with Demming, second, I'd kick myself briefly for not speaking up sooner, and third I'd welcome him back in the fall, but put up even bigger walls around the vulnerable parts of myself to keep from getting hurt again.

Yes, This the logical thing for Beckett to do. But I HOPE NOT!!!
Hopefully these painful episodes (for her, Castle and all the rest of us) opened her eyes to really how "boring" her private life is (we all assume it is – and she said as much to Lanie in the Third Man and in season 1 Lanie (again) called Beckett out for hanging out with her instead of Mr. Hottie Pants (I don't remember the quote
) and during season 2 Lanie (you go girl!!) let Beckett know that she had lost a lot of money in the "when will Beckett and Castle hook up pool"). Maybe this will have "losened up" up Beckett a little and we will see that she is more like Niki Heat than we think (she's been saying that for two seasons now), and that she and Castle can get back to having fun while nabbing the bad guys.

Relatively newbie poster here…had to jump in when I saw Terri's recent tweet posted. I opted to go the route of having Kate having a bit of fun with Castle and torturing him a bit – so I told her that if I was Beckett, I'd announce that I had become a lesbian and bring my hot girlfriend to introduce around the station on Castle's first day back.
I like what Nev827 said though, and I think that's more like what I would think Becket would do – kick myself a bit, welcome him back, put up another wall or two, and I'd add – smile on the inside if he mentioned anything negative about bringing Gina with him for the summer.

I have a feeling Beckett will have plenty of smiling to do on the inside with regard to Gina having gone with Castle.

Not sure if this is related to Castle, but it certainly makes sense that it could be. I'm sure there are plenty of arguments Castle and Beckett could get into about any signals each thinks they may have given to the other over time.

Firstly, thanks for the thread as I'm not on Twitter this it great to be able to see.
As to how Beckett plays the start of season 2 – As long as Gina is gone I think I will be happy however they choose to play it. And I can't wait!

I think a good twist would be that Ricky's dad is a cop. Not any cop, but a L&O brooding type. And that Beckett's dad be not the boring dude in that Season 2 episode, but deceased playwright Samuel. A little funny twist.
Oh, as to what will happen with the romantic dynamic? Who knows? It's been so convoluted last season that anything they come up with I feel would make better sense, IMHO. What I would like? She wrangles him back through indirect means, a good candidate would be if her daughter returns to get involved in the precinct (even if it has been done). They would fall into 'friendship' territory, with romances in the past or evolving, Cyrano de Bergeracking each other through romantic advice regarding their respective other halves.
What will really happen? I bet he returns by himself, for xx reason. She wrangles him back into a case, while their barriers are way way up. A word slips out and they learn they're both single again. And the banter returns like nothing happened, which would be unrealistically lame, but it's probably what the network will demand. So consider it done. TV writing is hard.

I thought Beckett should be pissed but that would be like last season all over again so maybe Castle tries to call Beckett because he's having such an awful time w/Gina and then Beckett doesn't answer his calls/call him back and then he gets upset

Doz, you conveyed well what I was trying to express…thank you! There has to be something in between the cold shoulder and Kate in pursuit of Castle. I'd hate for any growth by Kate last season to be totally thrown out the window.
I actually find it believeable that Kate changed her mind in the finale even after her speech in Food to Die For. The series of events in that episode…the threat of Castle leaving their work partnership (which she realized was so significant to her life at that point, as Kate's job is still most of what's important in her life)…caused Kate to make that big shift and take that leap of faith. I didn't expect her to profess love for Castle, but I expected her to open a door he might walk through and let him know she had broken it off with Demming.
I hate that she followed her heart more than her head in that instance and got shot down because I think that a balance of the two is wonderful in life. But even she must realize that it wasn't Castle's fault that he left. Although she can't ignore Gina either, and her presence absolutely has to remind Kate that she still has a lot of unanswered questions about Castle's romantic history.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't want Kate to wall herself off or be a doormat. I want her to continue to be strong and fabulous and awesome at her job. I want her to continue to keep her heart open to the possibility of Castle but not wait for him….yet hope that he reveals his past and his feelings in time.
