I hope this is an appropriate question. The writer in me is curious – what are the demographics of fans of "Castle"? For example, anyone have an idea of the age range at this forum? Seems to me the average person is quite young. But I'd love to know! I'm in my 50's – do I have everyone beaten, age-wise? I hope not! I have a reason for asking, pertaining to a magazine article I'm thinking of doing, can't talk about it yet (writer superstition ). But anyone want to share even the decade they're in? Thanks. Not for publication – just as an idea. I'm thinking – the gamut from teens to those in their 60's are covered on the show, so maybe the audience/fans are the same?

I think it's just that the younger ones here are among the more vocal :) I'm in my late 30s and I know there are others my age or older here, no idea the numbers vs the younger ones though – maybe I should set up a poll.

I'm almost twenty but I have found a few people that are around 13/14 years old so I'm guessing that the demographic is 13-60 which is pretty good. Hopefully we can snag more viewers for the second season and really boost the ratings up =)

Mid-twenties here. I've also noticed that there are some young ones on the site. I guess I'm a bit of a snob, but it drives me nuts to read posts that don't use capitals and basic puncuation/grammar and, unfortunately, these are usually indicate a younger user.

4 fans in our house. The youngest one is 6. My son thinks Castle is a really funny and cool guy. My daughter is 12, I'm 39 and my mom is 59. My husband watches from time to time and he enjoys the banter between Castle and Beckett.

Early twenties, and my mom (who diligently watches with me) is in her mid fourties. Oh, and my 14 year old brother does enjoy the show as well.
And yeah, I don't think that viewers are necessarily younger, just that one notices some of the younger participants more because of the glaring (yeah, I'm a bit of a snob too, I think clear communication is a matter of respect) grammatical/punctuation errors. Also, I think younger people without jobs etc to worry about have more time to spend on the internet, and probably just post more.

What an awesome question to ask. I'm glad you did.
I'm 19, so I'm one of the hanging around teenagers. I am in love with the show for its amazing writing. The witty banter etc. Brilliant!

I'm 47, but if you ask my hubs he'll say I'm still a kid. I love the show for its creativity, cleverness and smart dialogue. Nathan and Stana's chemistry is great as well.
Good luck with your aticle, dm! ^_^

To the teens on the board, you don't need to be embarrassed about being teens, we all were at some point. :P
However, if you don't mind a piece of advice, it really wouldn't hurt to try to use correct spelling/punctuation. It makes posts a lot easier to read and understand. Often posts read as one sentence and lose a lot of meaning. Capitals at the start of a sentence and periods at the end make a huge difference.

My biggest problem is the word 'because'. I always want to shorten it to just 'cause' since that's how I normally type it lol. But I agree with you. Punctuation, capitalization, and spelling (even if not 110% correct) are majorly important.

I will often type 'cause 'cause that's the way I talk.
I admit that I am often slack with correcting typos properly but it's usually because I'm trying to do too many things and so I rush.

Things like 'cause don't bother me, it's the non-caps, run on sentences, massive misspellings, and lack of punctuation. I think that, if you're going to bother to communicate an idea, the least you can do (if you want people to listen to what you say… which is the point of communicating in the first place) is make sure that it's as clear as possible. That's why we have all those fun things like capital letters, commas, periods at the ends of sentences, and spelling lessons in grade school. I don't care about typos, heck, I have them all the time, but it's the intentional disregard for the fundamental things that make up our language that drive me crazy. It's all about communication, if you want to type in idiotitis, join idiotitis.com and have a ball :)

I use slang language all the time. I'm not sure if that annoys you guys as well. If it does, you should probably just skip over my posts. Otherwise, I can go to a different Castle forum and torment other language nazis.
