OfflineLet me explain I wonder if this show was just supposed to be cheekie fun with castle and becket flirting
And crime solving. Nothing to serious but fun to watch and that was it however all of the sudden the relationship
Between C&B seemed to start overhshadowing the story. Do you think the writers and producers suddenly realized
That N & S have a ton of chemisty and work so well together. So they started to to somewhat shift more focus on
How C&B interact with each other and how there relationship is changing. I can't figure out wether we are just
Over analyzing everything about them and there scenes or are the writers realizing Fans are becoming more invested in the relationship part of the show. Or are they Just that clever and this was the whole plan right from season one. Just wondering
What the rest of you guys think.

OfflineI had the impression from the start that the slow but steady building of the relationship was very intentional. Take a look at these old interviews from the start of season 1 if you haven't seen them already (nothing new):

OfflineI remember an interview of Andrew Marlowe's from either season 1 or 2 where he came right out and said "they will get together" it's just a matter of how they get over the roadblocks thrown in their path and how they deal with their own personal baggage.

Three years is a long time to be playing hard-to-get; either the game is almost up, or there truly was no game at all. If you make it too hard to believe, people will stop believing it. There are so many talented writers available, and the beginnings of this show were so filled with potential and promise, that there is no reason whatsoever not to ratchet up this potential and promise in every episode. I'm feeling that they are letting their foot off the accelerator when it should be full speed ahead and caution to the wind. I'm not saying that C&B need to get together right now. I'm saying it would be much more believable and attractive if they displayed ALOT more sizzle.

I think they've been pretty hot all season: all the flirting, the looks from Beckett, her flirting with him when they went undercover at the club. Sometimes you don't need to be overtly affectionate to be hot, sometimes sublety and letting things build slowly can be just as attractive. But I agree with you to an extent. The writers need to take some kind of major step forward either at the end of this season or at some point next year to keep the fans involved. Plus, there's still a fair amount about Castle that we don't know, such as why he became a writer. We know his prep school friend encouraged him, but where did he get the desire to write murder mysteries? I'd like to see TPTB expand upon 3XK's brief profiling of Castle where he said Castle is drawn to death because of suppressed impulses.

OfflineThank you unniw for posting the links to those early interviews. I had watched them a long time ago but was so thankful to be reminded of the fact that they would eventually get together and that has been the intention from the start. We've been so wrapped up in the SO arc and speculation as to what is going to happen that I forgot what I already knew. And being reminded of that allows me to sit back and relax a bit, just waiting for the WHEN it does happen.. even if that is in Season 4.

OfflineIn reading the previous post by Nev827 I am reminded that at one point Castle is talking to Alexis and he is distraught over the meaninglessness of a recent murder, and he tells her that he thinks that's why he writes about murders, to try to understand why people do heinous acts. So either it's that simple, or there is a precurser that set his mind to the question.
