OfflineCastle gets the only mention for what to watch on Monday the 26th. And I believe this is the first appearance in which it is graded.
If you watch Castle because of Nathan Fillion's past geek glories, heaven awaits you at the opening of this episode, when he spoofs himself with a Halloween costume. If you watch it for the crimes and the romantic chemistry, though, you'll see the formula's gotten too comfy. Castle and his sparring partner, Det. Kate Beckett need to get into some real trouble, be it physical or emotional. This week's case is compelling, if you can still stand the subject of vampires. If only more were (pardon the pun) at stake. B Jeff Giles

OfflineThough I would never slap a grade on my fave tv show, (always an A for me, just happy watching these 2) he might have a point with "the time to get into some real trouble, be it physical or emotional" comment.
Yeah – let's see some real emotional trouble!! It was starting, then they sort of backed off it fast last week… just when I was leaning in to catch every nuance. It was nicely done but left a lot to be desired.
Which is, obviously, the whole point!

OfflineI have to agree. I wouldn't mind Castle and Beckett get more into trouble. The formula of one case a week with case solved at the end is alright but they never seem to be in danger of their lives. I know the series is a feel good show. A little shake up wouldn't hurt. I call Castle or Beckett getting injured by a shooting at the season finale or episode 13.

I am happy with it being the hot item to watch on Monday. Jeff was also insightful about needing more trouble, so a 'B' is good in my book. :laugh:
I agree!
Any publicity is good publicity, especially in a magazine that so many people read!
Yes, he raises a good point about the trouble thing. We need some danger!
"You're not afraid of a little action…are you?"
Castle = Awesomesauce. The end.

OfflineI would love to see some Beckett danger or even if they would get into her mom's case which would cause some emotional drama. It would be so great to see Castle out of his element a little and show a more serious side. I love his comic relief and that element to the show, but I think that Stana and Nathan are great actors and I think they would make for some great drama.

OfflineI'm glad this topic was started – since I read the magazine earlier today I was thinking about starting it as a topic! But I think that the reviewer was very accurate (about the B,I'm not so sure — naturally I think it's an A+). But he mentions Castle and Beckett needing to get into trouble, either emotionally or physically. I immediately thought of what several of us have said about wanting the chemistry to be played up a bit -just to the point of "trouble", whether it's that one of them makes a move and is slightly rejected, or both make a move and are embarrassed, or they make a small move (hug, more touching, little kiss, something). I think that would be emotionally troubling for them! Maybe physically, too! There are other types of trouble, it's true, but even the reviewer mentions their chemistry, so why not capitalize on what is apparently obvious to all?
