OfflineThat maybe so Leftfield, but DMB possibly having proposed (only a proposed thought/consideration from Eliatra), followed by Beckett eventually turning him down due to current, or possibly soon to be known, revelations would not necessarily mean DMB to be an impediment. IMHO
AM also stated or implied (don't have exact words) any actual movement between C/B wouldn't happen until mid season, thus – just about anything with respect to what's preventing them from more immediate togetherness, is possible.
My 2 cents..

You may be right, but I think that the SO's story line as an obstacle to them being together has really run it's course. They have opened up the door, with the finale to so many other things that could realistically keep them apart, and be really interesting to boot. Why continue with a story line that the audience is going to feel is "last season"? The Gina and Josh story-line was last season's "obstacle" and I think that this season the story is going to move on to the next "obstacle", not continue DMB for more millage. And I think that that obstacle is going to be some permutation or combination of Beckett's mothers case, the fall-out of her being shot, their realization of their feelings, dealing with the "threat" of the the new Captain to their partnership, etc, etc….. I think that they will have to really deal with their feeling and each other in a more mature way. The audience is fatigued with DMB, and I think that TPTB are really aware of that and that they have to step up their game this season and give us something more then a continuation of the third party threat storyline from last season.
They may choose to have a proposal from DMB, but I think that if that were to happen it will cleared up right quick, so he can exit stage left. I really don't think that we will see him stick around to the "mid-season movement" that Andrew Marlowe has alluded to. They have too many other interesting "fish to fry" and places to go, IMO.

Leftfield, I don't disagree with anything you have said.
I just think any number of reasons are possible for why DMB is still in the picture and how/why is has to end.
I agree with this. I just think that whatever they choose to do with DMB, it's going to be wrapped up fairly quickly.

OfflineI'm watching "Pretty Dead" and Castle is talking to Alexis about Ashley's going to Stanford; he says "The only thing you have are your choices and they'll define who you are." Could this be leading up to Montgomery's speech to Beckett?
*hint, hint*

Not to be the devil's advocate, but before the beginning of S3 it was told that the SO conflict will be in the "early part of the season" and none of us would have thought that any of them will have a chance to be a topic in the beginning of the S4. Even here on this forum was agreed at least twice during the winter/spring that DMB has ended his role and everybody was sure that he won't "survive" the season – yet he is here. So only because there are other fishes to fry, it's not sure they want to serve them.

If Josh had proposed or even been remotely involved with Kate at this point, wouldn't he have been at the funeral? Doctors can take time off for death and funerals…. It is hard to imagine where a fight between Castle and Josh might fit in since he is such a nebulous and absent character in the story.
Real life is complicated, but usually not quite so much. I'm starting to hope that Alexis gives dad a talk about maybe moving on with his life as tilting at windmills is only interesting for a short time before it heads towards the ridiculous. Castle could move somewhere else and start trailing an FBI agent for a different series of books….it'd be better than watching him be a doormat for another season.

So basically you want Castle to leave 12th precinct and completely disappear from Kate, Ryan, Esposito's lives? At this point they may end the series at all, 'cause Castle is only interesting to watch WITH Kate, Esposito and Ryan. Shadowing FBI agent? Start the new TV show…

Agree, but I believe also that Andrew Marlowe got a message from fans about what we think about Josh and really doesn't want to make us even more angry at him.

OfflineOk, so along the lines of forshadowing and patterns, something has been worrying me this summer.
Each of the previous season openers start with Castle and Beckett angry and fighting with each other. AWM and company love their patterns, for sure. Will they end up fighting/at odds with each other in 4x01?
I, for one, hope not. I know they won't get together yet, but I really don't want to see more hurt and anger between these two after all they've been through.

Ehm… not exactly. These episodes STARTED with them fighting with each other, but ended with them being in total agreement
This time we're gonna have Rick fighting with Jos. And after the events of 3x24 Kate and Rick have actually nothing to fight about, so I expect them to be perfectly fine and Kate fighting with the new captain for Rick to stay at the precinct.

It's true and I hope so, but his POV that the viewers like to be frustrated and then even the small "rewards" make them happy is not a very encouraging thing. Beside, in S3 they started to cut the characters similar, to the same fashion. Castle and Beckett didn't accepted the different personality of the other one, but their own personalities changed to be similar (Castle more trustful, Beckett more reckless). At this moment the show concentrates to only one thing between them, to their fears, all the other previous aspects of their different attitudes, lives was brushed aside or completely vanished. If they go on this path that's the grave of the innate conflicts between them, as they are going to be too similar to fight => outside obstacles will be constantly required to keep the tension. I'm not saying that this will be Josh (hopefully not) but they rely much more on conflicts with third parties or plot events (like the SOs, the new captain, or the secret of Montgomery's files) than in the first two seasons.

Let's hope people at the Castle panel during SDCC later this month will be able to convince Mr. Marlowe that we really don't need SO's nonsense this season, but a development of Kate/Rick relationship…

Hi [Image Can Not Be Found]
Well, I can't agree more with what you said ! I did speak the same when I first came here, last month. I was not to see the sery any more, because I bought it (expensive here in France !) thinking it would be an interesting comedy with great actors (all of them) and then, find myself after 2 years, with a … drama which I would not have been interested to buy at all, enought drama in the real life.
I could never ever have imagine that two really good personnalities in this serie would die just at the last episode, leaving us with 4 months of frustration in front of us, and the authors saying fans like to be frustrated [Image Can Not Be Found]
I feel it's sadistic !
When watching once more the previous episodes, to see Montgom. knowing that he will not be there any more, is all ready hard, but to also know that Beckett will never ever be really the same because of what has happen to her, makes thing really hard to take.
So, I was pretty sure to do not buy any more season and was already looking for somethig else.
Then, I became a fan of this forum and you are all so interesting, so funny some time, so warm and friendly with one another, that, at the end, YOU are my new season and serie !
Thank to all of you [Image Can Not Be Found]
