This was posted on TWOP, couldn't find the link.  I thought the comments were spot on though.  Why does the 'play' have to stop if C/B kissed or started dating?  I think the show could be stronger if written correctly.

ABC's "Castle" is the most delightful TV series. I'm curious about leads Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic.

Sandra Martin, Hayward, Calif.

It's the chemistry between Fillion, 38, a TV and movie vet, and Katic, 31, a relative unknown, that makes "Castle" so delightful. And she tells us it's owed to clever writing and her co-star's charm: "He makes it easy to bounce things back and forth." Chemistry leads to questions about putting the characters together; Katic, who's single, can see both sides, "but, I wonder, why is there this myth that once people get together, there isn't play anymore? … People are married and still have wonderful relationships."

A little blurb about Castle from USA Today. Not much, but since some of us are big fans of moving the relationship forward, I thought it was nice that Stana Katic mentioned what has been mentioned here several times.

"a relative unknown!?"  well not too happy about that comment but I do agree about the them getting together part. Personally I think the show would have a clearly better element with a relationship. And the problems that arise with a working relationship mixed with a personal relation. in short check out my last post on here haha!

i wouldn't take that comment too seriously.  in hollywood, everyone is a "relative unknown" until you can literally walk down the street and ask anyone "do you know who so-and-so is" and have everyone know.

I guess I just got annoyed with them saying Nathan was better known…I feel like I am repeating myself haha cuz you both said the same thing…and I get where you are comming from but it was really annoying I don't see anything great about Nathan sure he's a good actor but I have no need to see other stuff he is in like i had with Stana!

Thing is, Nathan has been around for years and has been a star/co-star in multiple TV shows which makes him "known" in the industry. Yes, Stana is known to many people and has many fans, but as far as starring in a TV show, this is her first time. That's all the comment meant.

Becklers do it with the beckle on.

i can totally understand what you're saying…i'm right there with you.  it annoys me when he seems to get all the credit and praise and they act like stana is just…whatever.  honestly, when anyone ever asks me what the show is about i always begin with kate and go from there.  i somtimes completely forget that castle (being the title character) is supposed to be the main character.  and it's such a shame, really, because i don't think he outshines her in any way.  he's funny and all, but i always find myself laughing more at her reaction than to his actual joke.  Crazy

I get the laughing at her reaction that is why what he says is funny because of her reaction it really has nothing to do with him. Ditto on the starting with Kate. there could be a show without him I mean there are crime shows all over with just detectives or some form of law enforcement but a show about a writer…? don't see it lol! While it is callled Castle I started watching in the first place because of Stana and continued watching because I relate to the Character Beckett. To me his lines are funny at the time (mostly cause of her) but her lines are what I find myself remembering and repeating.

OK first of all Nathan is better known, its a fact simple as that, he's been acting professionally since 1993. They are NOT having a go at Stana just stating a fact. Everyone has to start out somewhere.

I personally don't see anything great about Stana, yer she's pretty enough but I have no interest in seeing anything else she's in. I watch the show for Nathan and I make no apology for that fact. Its just a difference of opinion but it takes ALL of them to make the show.

you make a very valid point.  i mean we all have our favourites, but ultimately, the show would not still be on the air if not for all the actors present.  it's the combination of them all that makes for a success not just one individual.

but stana is my personal favourite.  Crazy2

Cmon guys, this isn't X factor- both actors make the show. Actually the show in itself is an ensemble. Without all the ingredients, it's just like any show out there… and we all know it isn't

I agree! The show wouldn't be the same without either one of them! Nathan and Stana are both talented (and good-looking!) and have their own merits. They each bring something different to the show, and I really couldn't see anyone else playing their parts.

This isn't the place to debate Stana vs. Nathan (well, I don't think there really has to be winner, can't we just say "yay, everyone!" ?), so let's keep the the topic… "How should Rick & Kate get together?"

As the saying goes, "slow and steady wins the race." Let's see some juicy stuff, but don't get too carried away so quickly… I'd hate for them to just fall into bed. So clichéd! I know our writers could come up with something much better :)

Back to topic:

I really want to see them getting closer. This just sounds desperate, but even a hug would thrill me at this point. There have been a couple episodes where I've literally screamed, "HUG HER YOU IDIOT!" at my tv. I would like to see them date, kiss, etc… they literally don't have to put them in bed together any time soon.

I admit, I'd love to see some undercover work with the two of them having to play a married couple or something. Like at couple's therapy to get information on the therapist. That could be hilarious. They did this in another cop show, the Unusuals (did anyone watch that?) and it cracked me up. It could be especially fun with these two.

I think something that pushes them right out of their comfort zones would be a lot of fun. Maybe not the whole s*x scene but more of a connection. Trapped in a cabin in the snow, undercover as a married couple, something they can't just run away from.

I think them waking up together in the same bed but having no memory of how they got there could be fun too?

ditto on the bed thing but because I don't believe in sex before marrage I know it's alot to hope for a good simple relationship without all that but it's good to dream and if it does happen hopefully we don't have to see it…they aready had one bad scene we don't need another it's so annoying to have to skip a section because of stuff like that!

NO! Keep them away from the bed! That is the thing I hate about most Tv shows they don't know how to do a good wholesome relationship!

To be fair, keeping these two out of bed indefinitely is unrealistic. Rick Castle is a notorious ladies man. He isn't exactly taking them back to his place and playing hours of Scrabble. Absolutely, have them date a bit before hand, but I certainly wouldn't look to Castle to find a "wholesome" relationship…

BUT I don't want it to take 5 seasons like Bones has. That's a bit too long.

The dance is so much fun Kate pulling back, Rick pushing for more LOL Fun to watch and I'll bet fun to play too.

I feel like Bones has made such a big misstep there. It feels as though they missed the moment. I hope they will get together, but I feel as though they have really killed the "magic" where it should have happened for no real reason. When they finally go there, it won't be so much of an "Aw! Yes!" moment so much as, "It is about damn time."

Thanks to those that brought this thread back on topic. PLEASE remember people to be respectful of the cast and crew AND of eachother. That's my one big rule for this forum. Thanks.

That said… back to the topic at hand.

I'd like to see them get together for sure, I don't think it has to happen suddenly, and I don't think a couple getting together is the end of a show either. People often quote Moonlighting as the prefect example of how that kills a show but there were so many factors that played a part in Moonlighting failing and I don't think it was the relationship that did it. They had to film most of the last season without the two main characters even being able to be on set at the same time. Cybil was experiencing a very difficult twin pregnancy that meant her time on set was very limited and Bruce was off filming Die Hard – so they had to write the two characters apart – THAT I think is the main thing that killed the show. From what I understand there was also a lot of politics going on behind the scenes, they struggled with stuff to do with the writers strike… there were a lot of factors….

Anyway, I think they can get together and still have a fantastic dynamic and I trust the writers to do it well whatever road they take.

Admin, I adore you for bringing up the myths of the Moonlighting curse. I touched on a bit of that in another post and it was nice to see it brought up again here. While I think there is a lot of good that Castle has taken from Moonlighting — wit, chemistry, that type of thing, I don't think they should shy away from the relationship.

Also, Moonlighting was going downhill before the characters even got together. I believe they put them together in hopes of saving the show but didn't think beyond what they would do after the fact. Thus far, Castle's writers lead me to believe that they have more of a game plan. : )
