See, I like to think that KB's parents have been married a long time, very long, like way before KB came along. This would mean KB's dad would have been with Martha before Johanna. Just plain weird.

for my opinion, i don't think they would do that… the writers i mean..it would screw the whole show up….and yes i would probably leave for the nearest garbage can if this happens haha Shock

I never in a million years think that they would choose this route, they would loose all the built up sexual tension and just make the show awkward. It's funny to think about though. Just so wrong.

Boston Scientist and I were talking about this on my radio show chat the other day. I don't know if anyone's mentioned it, but we were wondering if Rick's dad had something to do w/ Beckett's mother's murder ~ I really hope not. :)

Could care less about Rick's father. He is not involved in any way with the show.It would be a monumental mistake to make him any kind of character in this series.However…………….I believe we will see Becketts dad sometime soon,if for no other reason than to meet the man that's in love with his daughter. Watch the next repeat closely ("Kill the Messenger"). My bet is that we need to keep our eyes on Chet Palaburn (Martha's MySpace connection from the past). He has figured prominently in a couple of episodes and may be our man.

Hmmm yeah, Chet would be interesting.

Not sure if it was ever said how old Martha was when Rick was born, but I spose it could have been right after high school, or at least in an early-ish part of her life/career since Rick has mentioned being dragged along with her acting gigs as a child.

Martha has to be 65 and Rick is supposed to be, what, 38-40? I figure she was probably 25 when she had him. Chet doesn't seem like the likely suspect to me, but you never know.
I'm not especially interested in who fathered Castle. It doesn't really add anything to the story for me personally.

I agree. If she wasn't already somewhat established in her career it would have made it almost impossible without some extended family or something to take up the slack.

Once they get the Beckett murder out of the way, I figured they'd bring Castle's unknown father into the fun.

There couldn't be that many candidates right? Of course if Martha didn't actually know the man, i.e. one night stands with one or more chance met men? There'd be some detective work involved for sure. The guy could have been married, or someone who passed through Martha's life as quickly as he came. (and Jim Beckett is *not* an option!)

One of the thing's I've always wondered about was the name Castle. It would seem that regardless of her marital status, Martha would use the same stage name, Martha Rogers. So where did the name Castle come from? Was she married to a Castle around the time Rick was born, so the stepdad gave Rick the use of his name? At one time I speculated Castle to be a pen name, but then Molly wouldn't be using it if that were the case. And let's face it, "Richard (Rick) Rogers"?

Someone please tell me if I'm remembering Heat Wave correctly. Didn't Rook use a stepdad's last name? Have I missed any "clues" on this subject?

I feel the same way. The father is so far out of the picture at this point and Castle clearly isn't all that interested in that particularly mystery, I don't think it would add much.

I am however intrigued by that phoney-balony story he gave Beckett in the Halloween episode about where his fascination with the macabre comes from. He obviously dodged the question which makes me wonder if there's something more to the real answer.
