OfflineIt would be so great if one of the actors or the show was nominated. Ausiello is making his picks this week, so I am interested to see if Nathan, Stana, or Castle are among them. I think the nominees are officially announced July 8th.
I wonder if Castle and its actors are harder to pin down for awards because Castle is a dramedy…

I hope they're taking a good hard look at the season finale then, because I don't know what more they'll have to do to get nominated, I'm not even considering winning, nominated alone would be great and winning would be the cherrie on the cake, actually lots of cherries.

OfflineI think voters tend to go with two kinds of performers: a) Those whose characters are perceived to be edgy. b) Those who show they really, really care for an award. Because that's what awards are about, right? Purportedly, to give props to that which need be propped, for some reason, mostly aesthetic, and retribution to those who suck up, because to err is human.
For both those reasons, the ones who would likely be candidates are either SK or Santiago Hudson. The latter, because he's just that good, the former, because- while also very good -she really, really seems to care for it. NF, on the other hand, would gain very little in practical terms, his visibility is already very high, and his cultish status may be perceived as a win in its own right, very similar to what happens to Sam Jackson (Only he got an award nod before he gained cult status, on Jungle Fever), which may detract from people to vote for him instead of someone else. And it all depends on the competish, of course.
They seem to nullify one another; SK clearly strives too hard for it, but although apparently very down to earth, she is perhaps too much so to engage in these sort of campaigns with confidence (confidence that is not lacking in someone like, say, Dana Delany) And NF, on the other hand, has charm and presence to spare but his rabid fan base seem to have him pretty content as far as validation is concerned (though I guess he wouldn't mind for more) The one candidate that balances out both personality-wise and acting-wise is Molly Quinn. If her character gets more to do next season, and she probably could, she would be at least a shoo-in as far as being nominated.

OfflineI don't know what they would consider this show though.. it's funny but not funny enough to be considered a comedy and it's not serious enough to be a drama… except for maybe that two-parter they did. Honestly though, I agree with 1892Rojas.. not about Stana trying too hard (I don't think that's true) but that she is the only one who seems like a likely candidate for an Emmy. I would say Ruben too but he doesn't really get a lot of screen time. I think Molly is extremely talented and depending on her story lines next season I could see her being up for one in the future.

I don't quite get what you are saying here.
I don't ever remember Stana ever saying that she wants to be nominated or should be nominated.
Sk strives too hard for what? If anything, SK has been nothing but shy about how good of an actress she is and always gives credit to the other actors on the show and never to herself. SK has never tried to be other than herself.
Btw, networks and producers of shows are the ones who sends in a tape or dvd of a particular episode or episodes based on the actor's performance that they deem worthy of a nomination to the Emmy judges and then from there these judges select who should be nominated.
Most of the time, the nominees are the same ones over and over again. The judges have their favorites. But they do add one or two actors that have never been nominated before.

marbs = You beat me to it, but glad you did!!
I read the original post then went off to google Stana and was just coming back to write almost exactly what you have.
I will just say DITTO!
Is it September yet??
Thanks. I was a bit taken aback when I read the post. I have read all or maybe most of Stana's interviews and never once did she give credit to herself so I was like what? She tries too hard and she really cares about being nominated?
The usual suspects for Emmy and SAG nominees are: Hugh Laurie, Glenn Close, Julianna Marhuilles, Mariska Hargitay, Tina Fey, and Tony Shaloub. And yeah, the Mad Men actors.

OfflineI too would love to see Stana get an Emmy and I think she deserves it.
I don't know about ABC but Warner Bros has already got a webpage up to promote shows for the Emmy. http://www.wbemmy.com/ When you click on the show you can watch 2 episodes of that show. I'm guessing those episodes are the ones they are having the Emmy people look at. It would be great if ABC could promote their shows like this. We do know that they love Castle.
I guess we fans can to a little campaigning of our own too. http://hanakogal.livejournal.c…../1983.html

OfflineMy other comment is that, I don't think they would nominate Molly Quinn and not Stana or Nathan or even Jon Huertas?
It would all depend on how hard ABC and the producers of Castle campaigns to get Stana and Nathan nominated. Whether they do or not, we know that Castle is a great show.
Criminal Minds is one hell of a show but they never get nominated nor to the cast get the recognition it deserves becasue CBS doesn't do enough to promote the show and yet, they keep killing in the ratings and they annihilate their competition on their timeslot.

I'd say YEAH but I'm VERY biased
I haven't the slightest clue what the criteria are or how and who decides to put a show/actor forward and whether or not there's a timeframe in which to do it.
I'm a little biased too.
But I know that there is a timeframe for what episodes can be nominated. I'm 99% postitive that in order to be considered for an Emmy nom, the episode that the actor is using for the Emmy nom has to have aired before a certain date. However, I don't know what the cut off date is for this year.
