Does anyone have an idea how long it takes to film an episode?  From when the script is approved to the time when it is ready to show?Writing

I think they talk about it at the Paley event, something like about 6-7 days per episode with 16 hour days

They have said there's an 8-day filming schedule.

But the concept-writing-scripting-shooting-postproduction-scoring-editing is more like 3-4 months. And at any one time, I'd guess there could be as many as 6-8 episodes in various stages of production.

Yes, filming takes 8 days (plus 2 days for the weekend) but script outlines start several weeks before pre production (getting everything ready to film, finding guest stars, planning locations & sets etc) and then after filming there's at least a couple of weeks of post prep, editing , any required ADR (actors having to re-record their voices) adding sound effects, music etc.

You have to love the dedication of the Castle cast and crew. To keep up this schedule you either have to forego a private life, or make good friends with your colleagues. Those of us with 9-5 jobs dont spend as much time with our co-workers as this crew do. Hats off to them for their professionalism and commitment to their craft.
