I have not read every posting in this forum, so excuse me if this has been done before. I just decided to do some research on the meaning of names. What's is a name? ALOT! So here ya go. Hope you enjoy it.  [Image Can Not Be Found]

RICHARD ALEXANDER RODGERS – Castle's real name

Richard – rich, powerful, noble ruler – we know he is rich and has powerful connections and he has shown noble behavior toward Kate.

Alexander – protector or defender of men – he's got Kate's back – always; Penny predicted an Alexander would save Kate's life in the future (Rick already has many times, but I'm thinking somehow different in the future episodes – maybe Kate gets injured and needs a liver transplant, etc. or from an emotional tailspin)

Rodgers – prowess with a spear – Castle is a writer and part of the show logo is an old nib pen – nib means point, like on a spear or sword – "the pen is mightier than the sword"

RICHARD EDGAR CASTLE – pseudonym

Richard – same as above

Edgar – after writer, Edgar Allan Poe – happy warrior, rich spear, successful spear man. Poe was known for his writings of mystery and the macabre; inventor of the detective fiction genre and credited with contributing to the emerging genre of science fiction. All of which Castle uses or is interested in. He used satire, humor, and irony in his works. We see the writers using these devices in the TV series. Irony is coming to the fore, and I'm afraid bitter irony is coming. Poe was abandoned by his father and both of his parents were actors. Poe had a varied and turbulent life. Makes me wonder about Castle's past and what lies in his future. Wikipedia has information on him if you want further details.

Castle – Major chess piece, 3rd in rank, live in or work near a castle – a fortified place or structure, a watchtower from which shepherds keep watch over their flocks – Rick is always watching over Kate. He could be Kate's safe haven, if she would let him. Everyone needs a soft place to fall sometimes, no matter how strong you are.

KATHERINE BECKETT

Katherine – pure – is a strong character, reminds me of Kate in "The Taming of the Shrew". Kate is always after the pure truth in her cases.

Beckett – prominent nose – nose – instinctive skill or facility, especially in discovering things (sometimes in the phrase, "follow one's nose") – detectives' job is to discover things.

JAMESON ROOK – Name of character in Nikki Heat books, a writer

Jameson – one who holds back another – Rick and Jameson have both had influence on Kate and Nikki in certain circumstances.

Rook – or Castle, Major chess piece, 3rd in rank, European crow, a cheat, especially at cards or dice. The verb "to defraud by cheating" (originally especially in a game) – crow – Poe wrote "The Raven". I believe Rick once said he came from a family of con-artists and circus people. I can't remember the exact quote.

NIKKI HEAT

Nikki – victory of the people – Kate and Nikki are both out to give people justice, closure. I see victory in that for people and victory over evil. And both are victorious over emotional devastation in their lives.

Heat – we all know Nikki and Kate are HOT. The term "hot on their trail" comes to mind.  [Image Can Not Be Found]
