OfflineCan anyone explain to me how it is, that not one nomination was made for Castle, the cast, or the crew? Not even for the awesomeness of Reuben's performance.
Not one Critics Choice nomination
Not one Emmy nomination
Not even a Bafta nomination
My question is obviously rhetorical, as I don't expect anyone to have the answer. I just had to say it out loud that it makes me mad, how Castle is overlooked, and I haven't a clue why. You don't see Stana's face, nor Nathan's, on any of the magazine covers (except TV Guide). They have been growing in popularity and after last season…..really.… non of this makes sense to me. It's infuriating, and I just had to say it out loud, before I burst.

Thanks for the link. Your comment, "..Castle doesn’t fit neatly into Drama or Comedy.." made me think of Beckett's comment once about crimes not fitting neatly into a box, thus – they end up pushed off into the nearest file that fits the need at the time, and never really solved, or paid attention too.
Just because Castle doesn't fit 'neatly' into a particular award description shouldn't mean it gets overlooked. I mean, really, who/what is the one that makes these decisions about who gets nominated? Does it go by Nielson ratings, how many Tweets a show/cast memeber gets, or some other such nonsense?
How is fan support and enthusiasum really measured and then utilized for deciding/supporting award nominations? Does it matter to TPTB when it comes to nominations, or are they looking for some brown-nose from the shows production company, that buys them off? <sarcasim>
I know some award groups are based on fan nominations, others are based on peer nominations, and others are done differently, but any way you look at it, there should be no reason for Castle to be snubbed. IMHO!
Individual cast/crew members of the show could be nominated for Best Actor/Best Supporting Actor/ Best Cinematography..etc., aren't categorized by the shows particular category. They are nominated for the particular job they did, and still, there are no nominations for these people.
There are other shows I feel the same way about, but Castle especially.

OfflineAfter further thought, individual cast/crew members are, indeed, put into the shows category, aren't they?
As in, Best Female Actor for a Comedy, etc. For some reason I have experienced a brain fart and can't remember if they are based strictly on the actors skills, or if it is based on their skills in a particular category. hmm?
Still….

OfflineIt's partly an Emmy problem and partly a genre problem IMO. Like the Admin says, Castle doesn't fit neatly into either the comedy or drama category so I don't think the voters would know where to put it even if they wanted to vote for it. There are several excellent shows that will probably never get nods because no one knows where they fit in. Leverage, Castle, White Collar, etc etc.
That being said the Emmy process needs a HUGE overhaul. Criminal Minds is a SERIOUS dramatic show and it never gets nominated either. And the 100th episode in season 5, Thomas Gibson gave probably the best performance by any actor I've ever SEEN on primetime TV and yet he didn't get a single recognition for the performance.
It sucks, but I believe TPTB at Castle are so incredibly happy with the FAN support that the show has, that while, yes a few awards would be nice, I'm sure as long as we are there to commiserate with them, they will be just fine. [Image Can Not Be Found]

OfflineAnyone think that if a show has been nominated for the last few years, or wins in one year, they should ineligible in the following year? I know it's blatantly unfair, but it would open things up to shows such as Castle that have awesome performances, but can't make the cut because the critics all have their "favorites."
Keep in mind everyone, Phylicia Rashad never won an Emmy for The Cosby Show so lots of deserving people have never won an Emmy.
I was REALLY hoping for a nomination for Will Beall, if nobody else, but so much for that.
Lastly, I don't understand how Harry's Law can be nominated (it's a comedy-drama, isn't it) and not Castle?! Totally unfair.

I have had similar thoughts regarding the number of year(s) one can be nominated. As far as I'm concerned you can be nominated as many times as possible, but if you win, then the next year you forgo nomination. Then it starts all over again the year after. …..or somthing of that nature. Remember when Oprah kept winning awards? In order to give others a chance, she decided to take her name out of the nominations – thus, giving other day time talk hosts a fair chance.
Will Beall should definately get some recognition !!
Ditto, on Harry's Law.

I didn't know she did that. Classy of her. I do remember when Rosie O'Donnell won her Emmy for her talk show, Oprah was very gracious in congratulating her right after her name was called. But I didn't know she deliberately pulled her show out of contention.
Yeah, probably capping the number of nominations wouldn't be a good idea, certainly not fair, but I could see that if you win, you'd be ineligible for the next year's Emmy in the same category. It's just so apparent that the Emmy voters have their favorites and don't seem open to anything with a new twist.

OfflineAll awards seem to be like this. The Oscars are totally screwy in my opinion too! I definitely think that Nathan and Stana deserve awards! Especially after the scene in the finale where Castle carries her out of the hanger. They are both absolutely fantastic in that scene!!! It seems like the show should at least win some production-oriented awards, like camera work or writing or something. That wouldn't have to be specific to a genre. The entire show is fantastic!!
