OfflineI think wnaegele is talking about the "community service" announcement Stana made in the middle of tonight's episode.
I don't think it was necessarily politically motivated, according to this past issue of "Us Weekend" (in which Nathan Fillion made the cover along with other celebs linked with charity work)…
"Starting Monday, four major broadcast networks – ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox – will slip messages about service into more than 60 of your favorite shows: dramas, comedies, and reality alike. It's the centerpiece of I Participate, a multiyear effort led by the Entertainment Industry Foundation – Hollywood's leading charity. Millions will turn this TV inspriration into real-life action next Saturday on Make A Difference Day."
Makes sense to me, since today is Monday

OfflineWeekly "topics" are to be pushed during prime-time TV shows [See: http://www.latimes.com/enterta.....2081.story. I personally dislike politicization of my entertainment ["Law and Order" being the worst offender. The producers handled it quite well on "Castle," i.e., not tying into a storyline. Jule "topics" are now general PSA stuff, I fear they will soon more and more resemble administration political "talking points." [The EIF now denies this http://bighollywood.breitbart......-by-obama/ ]

OfflinePersonally, I don't really mind it. Never hurt anyone to help out in their community every once in a while.
Although I can see where you're coming from. If I thought this was pushing an "agenda", it would be irritating to see TV networks trying to force it on us while they have a captive audience.
Again, I think it's a positive thing. Kudos to the entertainment industry for getting the word out. Volunteering is very rewarding, not only for the volunteers, but for the people who benefit

Volunteering is fine: the point here is that these so-called PSAs are the camel's nose under the tent: today the lecture is on volunteering, tomorrow it's what ever propaganda point the government wants to make. I'd just rather keep the gov't :blah: out of my entertainment TV. If I want, there're plenty of news channels to turn to…

OfflineI thought it was nice to see her in the campaign. I don't see a downside to getting word out about helping your community.
Here's the 10 second ad in case you missed it.

OfflineI don't see anything wrong with it. If you go to the site it lists a long list of different organizations that help people. The ALA included. (The American Library Association.) You (the viewer) has to decide who you want to help, or if you want to help, but to assume every organisation has a hidden agenda is an insult to those who do help people want to build a better community.
