I just joined this forum – have loved the first season. To my surprise and delight, I saw Nathan Fillion shopping today in the market – he's just amazing! He was with a woman – girlfriend? wife? don't know much about him personally – just discovered him when Castle aired. Anyway – I saw him just about everywhere I went in the market – didn't talk to him. So sorry now – wanted to tell him he's great and I'm thrilled the show got renewed. I made a mistake not talking to him, didn't I? He had dark glasses on when I first saw him, and then later took them off – maybe wanting to be recognized? No one talked to him. But what a great guy – helping with shopping! I wonder if he would have been nice if I'd talked to him? Anyone else met him and had a good experience?

I actually think that it's great you didn't talk to him. I think celebs probably get tired of being approached, so when they're doing something like grocery shopping, I'm sure they appreciate their private time. Good on ya for giving him his privacy (though I'm sure he would have appreciated the props for Castle) when a lot of people wouldn't have thought twice about approaching him.
Oh, and welcome to the board :)

Many many welcomes! I agree, I think it best that you let him have his space…I was reading some of his blogs from his Myspace page a few months back, and he seemed like a guy who liked to have his space. I didn't even do a friend request–after Firefly, I'm sure he's had his fill of fans who want to make contact with him. But that's SO cool that you got to see him! If I ever see anyone famous, I imagine I'll probably just gawk at them with my eyes bugging out of my head, frozen to my spot lol. But then again, I suppose that works…if they know why you're reacting like that and decide to make your day and give you an autograph, then great! But if they just smile and walk away (or worse, grimace) then you at least didn't bug them.
Answer me one question, though…how tall is he? I know he has to be pretty tall to beat out Stana in heels, but I've just always been curious. (I don't have to ask if he's as cute in person as he is on the screen, lol)

Thanks for the welcome! I'm thrilled to be here. As to how tall – Tall! He's actually more handsome in person than on the screen, too. Had on a simple white tee-shirt and jeans, and dark shades at first, in the produce section. I literally seemed to find myself in every aisle he was in – and I swear i wasn't stalking him! Then he took the shades off – maybe he wanted to be recognized, or thought he wasn't being, so it was safe? My longtime partner is a famous psychic/medium, and he loves it when people come up to him (at least most of the time he loves it) and say hello, so I thought maybe Nathan wouldn't mind. I could have just said congrats on the show. Oh well, it was fun just to see him. Anyone know who the woman was that he was with? Is he dating someone, or is he married? I'm a new Nathan fan. By the way, those look like the shades he was wearing!!

I know he was photographed with Lisa Donahue a couple years ago, do you recognize her as the woman he was with?
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1219917/ IMDb only has two pictures of her.
I'd never have the nerve to say anything to him, were I in that situation. I'd be afraid that I'd just be bothering him, and my luck he'd be having a bad day and snap at me or something. I'd feel so awful! ha ha

Nathan seems to take great care to avoid talking about his personal life, if he gets asked about having a partner his response is usually “I'm not married if that's what you're asking” so it's probably best to not speculate too much about his personal life.
But, personal life aside, generally (based on reports from fans who have met him) Nathan doesn't mind people saying hi if they see him in public but it's important that you be respectful and don't ask anything of him (ie, don't ask for his autograph) and you'll probably be fine, he likes it when fans are nice to him. Obviously use some sound judgement though, some circumstances it wouldn't be appropriate to go up and say hi to him – just use some general common sense and you should be fine should you ever encounter him just don't be offended if he doesn't want to have a conversation with you.
There are stories all over the internet of fans who've met Nathan and they all talk about how nice he is.

Oooh! You lucky duck! What supermarket was it? I usually shop at Rock n Roll Ralph's on Sunset and have seen my share of famous faces and not so famous faces (I met Samantha Bee of The Daily Show–I thought it was someone who just looked like her, and I mentioned the resemblence and she was all delighted to have been recognized! So, sometimes it's okay to say a quick word. You gotta judge the situation on a situation to situation basis. )
If I ever did see him, I don't think I could ever say anything to him that would sound coherent at all. There would just be vowel sounds coming out of my mouth.

Also a Ralphs market! The one on Ventura Blvd. and Coldwater Canyon. I'm kinda used to meeting celebs because of my relationship and because of writing and doing interviews, etc. But some celebs just stop me cold! Hugh Jackman was another one – met him through my boyfriend…just sort of mumbled, I think! Probably would have done the same with Nathan. Oh well.

Okay–the woman who was shopping with Mr. Fillion was probably his girlfriend, Darla. Who is awesome because she supports his Halo habit completely. Plus, she can watch while he plays and not get motion sickness. I wish I could say the same for me when I watch my husband play “medal of honor”. I try to watch, and it always ends with me, a glass of 7-Up and saltines.
Darla, I salute you as a fellow girl geek, and as one who doesn't run for dramamine when her SO plays his games.
Oh! and here is Nathan and his “bungie podcast” thingy–they are they guys responsible for “Halo”, and it's incredibly nerdy and geeky and if you don't do MMORPG thingys, you might be bored, but still….he DOES sound good looking.

For some reason, after reading this discussion, I now have Christine Lavin’s song Harrison Ford running non-stop in my head ![]()

Is Darla an actress? This woman looked like maybe an actress -but I can't think from where. She was thin, petite, attractive but not gorgeous, just nice looking. Oh, and to comment on someone else's post about Gerard Butler – Yum!

heh. Yeah. I kinda freaked myself out a little bit with my last post. I know too much about him, now. (well, not as much as I know about TVs Frank-but that's Frank's fault for twittering about his gout…).
I shall confine my stalking to watching Castle every monday night this fall! and this winter! and this spring(hopefully)!

It was a real passing mention, and he didn't even do the mentioning. It was the Halo guys who mentioned how impressed they were by his GF and her "support" of Nathan while he played Halo at their offices.
I stand by my opinon that if she can sit there and watch while he plays Halo and NOT get motion sicknesss–she rocks. And I want tips, cuz I can't do it for my hubs. I'm all "Whatcha doin' honey–OH GOD! Medal of Honor! Argh! Need Emetrol, now!" (I don't do first person shooter thingys very well. I kick ass at CoH, tho. )
