Hello Castle friends,

I see in a article that UKTV make a deal with ABC for Body of Proof and Castle.

So i think thats nice but then i read this:

The pay-TV operator has snapped up exclusive pay-TV rights to the fresh seasons of both from Disney U.K. and Ireland for its channel Alibi. UKTV head of acquisitions and co-productions Alexandra Finlay brokered the deal with Disney for seasons five and six of Castle and seasons three and four of Body of Proof.

So we get season six of Castle. I say happy dancehappy

There hasn't been anything confirmed from ABC yet - to get to know that, we probably need to wait for the May-Sweeps.

Does TV in the UK run the same season length as the U.S.? I thought I read somewhere that the season length there is shorter. Is the "sixth" season actually episodes from season 4 or 5 in the U.S.?  So, if they only run 15 episodes per season six seasons would only get them through episode 90 of the series. Just wondering if that might be where the sixth season is coming from.

Alibi which shows Castle in the UK is at present showing repeats of Season 4 and they previously showed the whole Season I've read that they are supposed to start showing Season 5 sometime in March.

You may be thinking of original UK tv programmes which don't necessarily have the same number of episodes in a series as US ones do.

(Channel 5 which is the terrestrial channel which shows Castle amongst other tv series has the habit of stopping a series part way through and then starting again some months later  those of us in the UK have commented on this  elsewhere on the forum)

The article you mention I saw originally on Digital Spy UK and there it says 'potentially' the 4th series of Body of Proof so there would seem to be some doubt about that. As Trinxy says we have to wait for ABC to confirm about Castle.

Inside every older person is a younger person wondering what the hell happened

Purchasing the "rights" just means they get dibs on Season VI if it's picked up for the sixth season, not a guarantee of a 6th season. Still, that's good news that Alibi™ is committed to Castle. Congratjulations!

Shows produced in the UK are usually 6-13 episodes but that doesn't affect anything they import.

It's not unusual for networks to make deals based on seasons they haven't actually picked up yet.

Eg, I was at a trek con over the weekend and one of the guests was talking about how they had a contract renewed for seasons 7 & 8 even though everyone already knew there was zero intention to actually produce an 8th season.

Not meaning to sound discouraging, I'm confident ABC will renew, just pointing out that you can't make any assumptions based on the UK deal.
