September 21st!
According to this:

Weird that it's premiering before the DVDs are released. Maybe they'll move them up a week?

Woohoo! It's been a long time since I've had a show that I've watched from the beginning renewed (except for Prison Break, which should have ended years ago, lol). I'm so excited! As for the DVDs, I still haven't been able to understand why the release dates are so close to the season premiere dates. And after? That makes no sense. It seems like ABC/Disney (I remember reading somewhere that it was some kind of affiliation between ABC and Disney that was releasing season 1) would have season 1 out at least a month before, to give new viewers time to catch up in time for season 2. Does anybody know why they make the dates so close?

Luna, I was wondering the same thing. I don't understand why they wouldn't release the first season at least a week or two earlier as, like you said, it would a.) give people time to refresh themselves with what's going on, b.) give new fans a chance to watch season 1 before starting season two, and c.) giving people who joined mid-season to see the first episodes before they start season two.
I'm sure they have their reasons though… =|

Part of it might be for production reasons: they make extra material, etc. Takes time.

So far we know that both Nathan Fillion & Seamus Dever have done commentary recordings, sometimes those can be hard to coordinate with cast & crew when they're busy with other things outside of their filming schedule…. and yeah, then there's production on all the extras, all takes time.
That said, Dollhouse finished only a couple of weeks before Castle did and the DVDs for that are being released next month…

That is just unfair. Does Dollhouse have as many extra feature bits in it as Castle?

I'm thinking they'll move the release date up. Remember they scheduled the DVD date just a week or so after the show premiered . . . at that point they didn't know if it would even get renewed or not, much less the fall premiere date.

Ok, now I really feel bad. They started reruns? When? another night of the week? Now is when I know my life is out of control if I've missed the notices about reruns. The only episode I missed was Episode 1, and now I've missed it again, huh? Oh well.
