While "shoot to wound" sounds like a good practice, in real life it is not. Police are taught to stop the threat, and kneecaps and guns-in-hand are too small of a target to hit in the heat and panic of a real shootout, and besides, it may not make the bad guy stop shooting. Very few real cops ever kill anyone, no matter what Hollywood shows in TV or movies. Check this out: Guns and Gunplay Tropes

I wasn't sure what to do and since I don't want to spoil anyone I decided to play it safe. Good to know, though!

For example, if I post an item from AWM about, say, 4x11 in the 4x07 Post-Episode thread, THAT would be a spoiler, if 4x11 has not aired yet.

I know there have been shots that wounded – Kate and Rick in 3x01 A Deadly Affair wounded the counterfeiters and Rick in Boom shot the gun out of the guy's hand (highly believable, huh!). Shots were fired in Knockdown but didn't kill anyone. Beckett shot and injured the guy in 1x06 Always Buy Retail. But other than Coonan, have there been any other deaths by the gang as my mind is blank?
