Hi to all!

yesterday night, after viewing for the nth time knockdown I started to rewatch the most beatiful moments of the three series, starting by the pilot.

I feel a warmth in my heart watching what Castle and Beckett had become. Expecially Kate's character.

In the pilot she was really blocked in her character, the though and practical female cop.

Her character changed more than Nathan's: Castle's character yet by the second episode was less raw.

And Ryan and Esposito too. The fight in the alley in knockdown was unthinkable in that first ep (and the shirt and jacket Ryan wear in the alley? So Irish bro!)

And I think we'll miss Montgomery: in that first ep he was the mentor we learn to appreciate. His "spot" is hard to replace with a new character.

Martha was the middle aged woman seeking for a wealthy husband, and now she's the bringer of wisdom.

Alexis grew up because Molly grew up: that is amazing.

I personally really like what Castle and Beckett had become, and I liked watching them become what they are now: it's like family.

I'm a shipper myself, and a hard one; but I liked this series episodes and I think third series was far more romantic and sweet than 1&2.

And now I look with hope at september because now that Castle said what he said, the feeling of unreality about the relationship flew away.

Finally, a word for TPTB, thanking them for bring to us an actress like Stana Katic: unknown to all and now such a lead. No Emily Deschanel can even get near.

Sorry for this, possibly, meaningless thread; but I wanted to share this with whom I thrust can understand my thoughts!

Great thoughts.  It amazes me too, when I look at the series as a whole just how much each of the characters have developed and grown.  Considering that they manage to complete a murder of the week each episode and still succeed in that much character development and C/B relationship growth over 58 episodes, it's pretty special.

Obviously the "I love you" in the finale is a game changer, but the way you discussed it struck a chord with me: the feeling of unreality about the relationship flew away.  It's so true, and I think that was key for me.  It seemed obvious throughout the course of the seasons that Castle was smitten with Beckett and eventually fell in love with her.  There was a lot of evidence in his actions, but there was something so significant in hearing him say the words.  The subtlety in this show makes it a joy to discuss, but it's lovely to get that occasional verification that interpretation of events aren't all in your imagination.[Image Can Not Be Found]

As much as I am rarely a fan of SO story lines (not that I completely agree with the way things have played out in that arena this season) and adore seasons 1 and 2, I have to agree with you on the sweetness of the 3rd season.  The depth of the C/B relationship has raised the stakes and intensity and significance of the little moments between them that many of us look forward to.

I could not be more excited for Season 4.

My family might be embarking on rewatching seasons 1 & 2 (no dvr for us so no s3).

We watched FLOWERS last night. First observation: we laughed out loud more times in this one episode than we did in the entire second half of season 3. It might not have been as funny the first time we saw it – we know the characters so well now, and how they have changed over the 3 seasons. Just sayin'

It's a hard job – NOT!! But I am going to try and categorize each episode from a character / relationship perspective and how they have grown over time. Because they all "have come a long ways, baby".

Let's not forget Alexis!  In the pilot episode she actually brought homework to her father's book launch party and this past season she crashes a friend's birthday party and starts a fight at school.  You can argue that it's just typical teenage hormones, but I think she has really come out of her shell.  Can we chalk this up, at least partially, to Beckett's being in her father's life?  Don't know, but maybe we can say that Beckett has changed Castle, and his change has carried over to her.

yes, maybe the fact that kate gives insights of her teenage years to castle changed the view of what Alexis does. Something like "if kate was doing this and now she's this spectacular woman, it cant be so bad".

And kate advises castle on a lot of educational things, like when he installed the GPS tracking app on Alexis' phone.

This is why we all wait for more Alexis-Kate time.

Personally I dont like the idea AWM exposed that Alexis can become an obstacle in the way of the relationship between Rick&Kate. I hope for a good friendship interaction!

I will admit to re-watching all of seasons 1&2 as well since the cliffhanger and, yes, the character development is rather pronounced when you see it in such a compressed timeframe.

What's interesting is that while I do think their affection, nay love, for each other has deepened over the years, I think they were crazy about each other from the moment that they met. Every show is an exercise in verbal foreplay. Also, Castle's onion has yet to be explored – class clowns and comics are usually the ones with the most pain and insecurity lurking behind the levity and Rick Castle is just a front to protect Richard Rogers. He makes Kate seem simple by comparison.

This past season he began transforming into a real character instead of a comic, and though I miss giggling through the show as I did in seasons 1 & 2, I have to say that the transformation has me intrigued and wanting more. That transformation was complete in the finale as it was compelling and brilliantly performed by the entire cast.

I hope the show develops/explores what makes Castle tick a lot more this season, especially what drew him to murder mysteries and his mystery father.

And you bet I'm going to miss Capt. Montgomery. Wonderful character and excellent actor.

I agree poptart.  We've explored quite a bit of Beckett's background that I hope next season we learn more about Castle, particularly why he chose murder mysteries to write.  3XK got to him when he said he is drawn to death and that comes from his own suppressed impulses.  This is definitely what I'd like to learn more about.  We know that his friend from high school got him started writing, but Castle could have chosen any genre.  Why murder mystery?

And I wouldn't worry about Alexis being too big of an obstacle, bel_riose.  She's a level-headed girl who wants her father to be happy, but may not be ready to share him just yet, especially with someone who has as dangerous a job as she does.  Perhaps she'll also worry that Castle could get himself hurt or killed, which is natural given  what happened to Beckett in the season finale and all the times Castle has been held at gunpoint.  But I'm sure she and her father will work it out somehow.  I really hope there's a Beckett-Alexis interaction at some point though.
