OfflineThis week the networks are going to be announcing their Fall lineups, new shows, mid-season replacements, and so on. I believe ABC will announce their schedule on Tuesday though these can be released earlier.
This thread can serve two purposes. Those who follow other shows can see what's up and we can see Castle's new competition.
NBC is up first. CBS will be on the 18th.

If Castle remains on Monday nights, it will face The Playboy Club in the Fall and Smash in the Spring. You can read about both shows in the link. Not too worried about The Playboy Club but Smash could prove troublesome. There's a lot of talent involved including Steven Spielberg, Angelica Houston, and Debra Messing among others.

OfflineOoh, I like this. Already scouting out the competition, jamz. Good thinking!!!
I agree "The Playboy Club" doesn't sound that appealing/threatening, but "Smash" seems interesting, might appeal to the older crowd of "Glee" watchers if it's a musical-type show. It will depend on the execution and marketing I guess. Neither show seems like direct competition for Castle's dramedy/mystery genre, however, so that's good. Will have to see what CBS has in store- I assume H5O is staying in it's current slot?

OfflineThanks Jamz! Hmmm…interesting new competition if Castle stays on Mondays. I agree that the fall show might not be much competition for the Castle audience. I suppose "Smash" in the Spring might be some competition, especially for the female audience that Castle has done so well capturing.
I understand the reasons behind the possibility for moving the show as halaci stated, but I still think that ABC would be foolish to mess with this winning combination…it has been a while since they have done so well as a whole on Monday nights, and Castle has been winning its timeslot as of late. I guess we'll see tomorrow!

Thing is though, if DWTS and Castle stay on Monday, DWTS will face competition from the Voice (which is doing very well) mid-season from NBC. If DWTS is affected, that may impact Castle's ratings too. The potential 10pm competition is worrisome too. Oh well, we'll have to see what happens.
The Voice is doing great in the ratings, indeed (4.5), but their total number of viewers is smaller than Castle's (slightly over 10 mln), so I don't think it's gonna affect DWTS that much. Our Monday winning combination (DWTS+Castle) should be safe.

I was going to ask how their having better total viewers make a big impact on the ~all important demo numbers~ since shows skew old all the time, but do you mean that if they have a lot more people watching overall, you think it's more likely the demo won't switch over to the Voice and will stick with DWTS?
Personally I think DWTS will also stay with having the most people watching but I do tend to think the 18-49 number will go down a bit. Or maybe there won't be any crossover I suppose, they are pretty different! Also, I assume the Bachelor will go up against the Voice eventually when DWTS isn't on, so that may not be good either. Castle is doing so well though now, I'm hoping that fans will stick with it and still give excellent numbers next year.
And again, that's midseason I'm thinking about and tons of stuff may shift by then anyway so we'll see.

Good news. I don't think changing its time slot would be a good idea at all. It does sooo well following DWTS. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
