Wow.  That has been discussed soo many times in fan fiction stories.  I wrote a few that included laser tag, and an outdoor movie and ice cream afterward, respectively.

I guess it would involve something Beckett likes but that is also romantic.  Maybe ice skating at Rockefeller Center, like she used to do with her mom, even though she said she's not very good at it.  It would give Castle the opportunity to catch her if she falls!  If not, dinner and a movie at Castle's loft since Beckett likes staying home and reading so much.

What do you all think?

I really like that idea Nev. I feel like a nice, low key dinner and a movie date at Castle's loft would be the perfect first date.

Whatever it is I don't think it was overly "romantic" in the cliche way of fancy resuarants and such.  Especially since she's warey of the press.  If they do go out it would probably be VERY low-key like a picnic in central park the catching a random Jazz band playing out there.  I'm also leaning towards dinner and movie in the loft

For me it would be: Castle inviting Beckett out for dinner. The place intimate but not that intimate. A little bickering and flirting while having dinner. After dinner Castle would walk Beckett home and to top it all off Beckett would give Castle a little kiss at the front of her apartment building. Bounce2

I don't know why but I have always imagined Beckett and Castle's first date would be a little bit awkward for them, like anyone would be on a first date.  I know if I went on a first date with a friend of mine that I have known for a long time, I really wouldn't know how to act around them in a dating situation.

How I would like it to go would be at the beginning of the episode have them going out for dinner at a really nice restaurant because Castle is trying to impress Beckett but they act awkward with each other and don't really know what to say or talk about and then of course Beckett gets a call saying that there is a murder, so it cuts their date short.  Then at the end Castle realizes that he doesn't need to impress Beckett like he has for other women and that she just wants something real and so asks if she would like to have dinner at his loft, saying that he will cook for her and her saying that they can cook together or something like that.  It would kind of resemble how the dates went in "The Third Man" episode and at the end Castle and Beckett just going to a burger joint instead of wanting anything fancy.

The Old Haunt or Rick's Cafe Americana.  Candlelight dinner & music–simple but intimate. To commemorate their date and harking back to their first meeting, Rick pulls out an advance signed copy of his new Nikki Heat novel as a gift to Kate.

Love these thoughts.  I completely agree on the bit of the awkward factor and Castle realizing at some point that he doesn't need to work so hard to impress.  It reflects a little bit on the debate Castle and Beckett had about Ryan's proposal…grand gesture vs intimate.

But Castle is all about fun and quirky too, so it would be cool to see Beckett loosened up and joining him in that at some point also- laser tag, skating, or the like….maybe not the first date (although it could break the tension).

I totally agree with you that Castle and Beckett should do something fun together, maybe when they get more comfortable together (in a dating sense). I could totally see Castle and Alexis persuading Beckett into doing Laser Tag!!!

I don't think it would be fair to play a game like laser tag with a trained officer, someone who knows how to handle a gun.  Water gun fights were never fun with my dad b/c he was on the SWAT team and had good aim. hahaha

I don't think a typical first date would be right for the kind of relationship they have.

I have this idea of Beckett turning Castle down when he actually asks her out for an official "date"(the reason isn't all that important in my mind). So a bit later, one night after a long day of work, he suggests they hang out/grab something to eat/get a drink/etc. Then at the end of the night as he is walking her home or they're waiting for a cab, Castle says "I thought that was a pretty nice date".

Oh gosh. I never really thought about their first date until now…..can you say AWKWARD!  haha I'm not gonna lie I am a bit nervous for this now. I like the idea of laser tag or ice skating. Something fun and playful, we all know that even after 2 years Castle still brings out the playful side of Beckett so this would go along great.

Its really up to the writers but to me Castle shouldn't try too hard and not be too fancy…just let it be an average but yet romantic date..
