OfflineAfter watching reruns of the show, I started noticing that Lexington Avenue is frequently used as part of an address to a crime scene or investigation? Even Ryan's beloved red couch (much to Esposito's horror) came from 54th and Lex.
Having not been to NY, what little I know about Lexington Ave. is that it's a major thoroughfare through New York City. Is there some sort of significance to this street, or is it just a running gag within the show?

OfflineI've been to NYC before, but I haven't been in a while. However, I do want to throw in a little bit of my own two cents on this.
In writing my fanfiction (Painful Truth), I wanted to pick an intersection that was close to the 9th Precinct, since I know that is the one where they filmed part of the pilot. I'm not saying that the 12th precinct is really stationed there, but if you look at the vicinity of the area that the 9th precinct covers, Lexington Avenue doesn't even cross through there. It does come close, though.
Makes you think where the writers might actually have their 12th precinct stationed…

OfflineThere was actually a 12th Precinct but they closed it down. Check out this link:

Active precincts in the 5 boroughs of NYC.

I work in NYC and there is no real significance to it. It's just another Avenue. I guess it just sounds good.

Hope that answers some questions.

OfflineThe 12th building in ep's, is actually the 9th precinct in Manhattan. There's a pic below. And in Castle episodes, if you look closely, pause it when they show the precinct, it says "9th Precinct" above the doorway. Which is interesting….
The writers probably just like to use it alot, since it's well known in Manhattan.

OfflineThanks for that pic! The 9th PCT definitely looks better than most of the others… I guess being in Manhattan has something to do with that.
It's a bad sign that it's going to be a long wait until September if I'm digging up trivia like this… in the elevator scenes on the Castle 12th PCT, there are at least 9 floors shown on the board, whereas the 9th PCT only has 6 floors starting from ground level… oops?

Welcome
lol I've been doing that too, like re-watching ep's and catching things that I didn't catch before. Interesting about the number of floors in the building…
