After episode five, I have changed my position about Castle and Beckett and want them to show more affection for each other. I do not need them going as far as page 105 in the Heat Wave book but it could be a little more than now. There is still so much more they need to resolve in their relationship before I expect them to be holding hands. Episode 5 seemed to be the perfect time for them to move forward.
2: I think the show will still be great with most of the humor between them if they were in a more romantic relationship, believe me there are still a pile of problems when you are hooked up with someone.
Who else has jumped the fence and would like to have them become closer friends now?

Not sure if I have totally jumped the fence, but I'm hanging at the top. Part of me wants to see more, not a whole lot more, but something, and then part of me doesn't want to see it because I don't want it to change the dynamic between them. I think in last night's episode, as viewers we did get to see how they feel about each other somewhat (especially with some of the facial expressions) without them really showing each other how they feel. Well maybe a little. I wouldn't be opposed to an episode where they have to go undercover and are forced to have a kiss to keep their cover under wraps.

I think the writer's are doing it just right for now. Just keep doing the dance and eventually they'll get there. (And then it had better be worth the wait!)

I'm an avid Caskett supporter but I don't want them to get there just yet. I love the dance they are doing now. However in the same token, a handshake? That was just not the way to "end" the relationship they had together. A friendly hug would have been perfect. After all, friends can hug without it meaning anything more than that.

Agreed. Jersey & I would probably hug if we parted ways, and we don't even like each other.

I agree with lilmac11313…..a handshake? Come on!!! I give "old" friends who I just happened to run into a hug….but then again, I hug everybody being Italian…..lol!!

I liked the handshake. After all, he's been thinking the whole episode that she is ready to be rid of him- how could he think she would want a hug?
It really shows the change in his feelings toward her when you compare it to 01x01 where he gives her the book and kisses her on the cheek. Now he's worried about offending her. Aww. :

You would have thought that Castle would try to give her a hug unless he plans on seeing her in the future. Come on, that would be the perfect time to get a 'free' hug with little consequences since he was leaving. If you notice how affectionate he is towards his daughter who he loves, a hand-shake just seems wrong for a guy like him.
Maybe they could have started the hug and both get a phone call, so they quickly stop. : Then they find ou the news about working together and get a little more serious.
The ending was classic with Beckett happy to ask if Castle was coming with her to the next case and Castle running like a happy puppy.

Obviously I've not seen the episode yet but a handshake! That seems very un Rick like as he comes across as a very affectionate, cuddly, touchy type of person. Maybe as he's worried about getting back in Kate's bad books?
Yes I want them to get together eventually but not just yet, its too much fun watching them flounder for it to finish too soon

Ok, I'm really a romantic, because I wasn't expecting a hug, I kept expecting a kiss. I'm not on the fence about the relationship – I've been saying all along I wished it would slowly build towards a relationship – but not THIS slowly! I think they could have gone in for a hug or kiss – would have been cute if it had been awkward, and then their phones rang and brought them back to reality. We can only hope for more in the future.

I'm all for Caskett but it still needs to develop, that's the fun of it. The fact that they don't have to go to pg. 105 right away is part of what makes Castle so brilliant.
That said, I was a little saddened at the time that they didn't hug in last night episode. Now I think the handshake was the right move. One reason being that Castle and Beckett were at odds for a good part of the episode so anything else would have seemed out of place.

Yeah, I dunno, everyone says they hate that they drag it out, but c'mon… you know you love it! That's the fun of the show!
Kind of like that interview with NF and SK around season 1-ish… the interviewer asked them if they'll ever get together, and Nathan said,
"Oh, we get married in episode 4!"
I think it'll be worth the wait

I have to be honest; I was expecting a kiss. Not a full on lip lock, but a peck on the cheek like in the Pilot, but sincere this time. I wasn't disappointed at how it played out but a handshake, after all they've been through together, was kind of unexpected.
