I was thinking about this earlier today and have idea for a fan fiction.
At this point, we can assume that one will admit it in season 3, but will the admittion be to each other or someone else? I'm guessing that Beckett willl be the one to admit how she really feels about him, but she won't tell Castle; Martha will be the one she tells. And she won't have to say much, Martha will already now by the way Kate looks at Castle.
Anyone else want to take a guess?
You should kiss that girl while you are both young.

I think it will be Castle who admits first, and I think it will be to Martha.

I think Castle would be the first to admit his feelings. Beckett would feel the same way, but would be more guarded and protected to sharing her feelings at first.

I think Beckett will admit it first probably to Lainie.. Castle's family pretty much already knows from the way he talks about her. I don't see them admitting it to each other next season though.. I think it'll be a while before that…

I think it will be awhile but…I see Beckett breaking down and admitting to Lanie after much pestering. And then a scene–about their "unorthodox partnership" –where Castle says, "I'm not going anywhere" and then you can let your mind fill in the rest…lol
But I'll be happy with whatever the writers give us.

In a romantic comedy you would expect it to be Castle in some incredibly expensive extravagant way. Possibly involving a fireworks display, full page ad in the Ledger, a blimp and marching band.
But seeing how Castle (the show) delights in not doing things the standard way it will probably be quite low key and unexpected. Maybe Beckett to her father after her mothers' murder case is finally solved.

As I said above, my guess is Castle to Martha (she may know he feels this way already, but he has denied to his family that anything is going on, so it makes sense to me that since Castle is more open with feelings [at least when it comes to his family], that he will discuss this first with Martha at some point (yes, probably far in the future 
).
Of course, you're right Dutchie, Castle as a show tends to do things in an unexpected way, so who knows…
I find it really interesting that a few of you think Beckett would admit feelings first and it would be to Martha. I see Beckett protecting herself and her feelings until something forces her hand, but if she admits feelings, I would think it would only be to Lanie (or someone like her dad).
I'm interested to hear why people might think she'd admit feelings to Martha. They haven't had a ton of interaction…

I've thought about this too. I think that Castle will first admit it to Martha, after she corners him. But I don't think it will be a full fledged 'I'm madly in love with her'. Maybe more like 'I care for her, and would like to see where it goes' kind of thing. Or he might question if she would ever even give him a chance. Then sometime down the road, Lanie will force it out of Kate, in the same 'there's something there' sense.
But between the two themselves, I think that Castle will admit his feelings towards Kate before she does to him. I think that Kate is to guarded to open herself up like that.

I agree that Castle will most likely admit it to Martha, then to Alexis, but in a way of asking her how she'd feel if he started dating Kate. And I think Beckett will admit it either to Lanie or her Dad. Then again, I was proven wrong on this point when Beckett made her pigtails comment to Castle, not to Lanie, in Sucker Punch, because she wanted to keep it secret from everyone. So as to who, Beckett or Castle will admit their feelings to the other first – I have no idea!

That's a tough one. I agree with the fact that Beckett probably won't admit it first.
However, I could see that if they were in a really intense situation and one of them got seriously injured that something might be said – whether because the person thought the other wouldn't hear/remember or something. (And then they would play it off being that it was such an intense situation so emotions took over etc etc – and lay low for a bit.)
Don't see it happening until earliest the end of Season 3 though..I'm betting as Stana and I believe Nathan have said, nothing will really move forward to that extent until the 4th season.
Meanwhile however, there had better be some moving forward still – and continued fun bantering and crazy, cute, serious, and sweet moments. Would like to see more layers unpeeled, and for them to learn more about each other (and us to learn more about their backstories too!) That's who they are and what makes the show! The writers know that, and have done so well that I think we can trust them to do the right thing and keep things going really well.
I do hope there's not a bunch of side relationships going on beyond the upcoming ones. I think Castle and Beckett need to realize that even though they might not be entirely ready for each other relationship wise, they aren't really interested in anyone else. (maybe that's what happens in these last few eps of the season!? one can always hope lol) Castle needs to loose that playboy image in order to really make Beckett realize he's a serious potential and would be devoted her and won't just up and go after the next deep fried twinkie he sees. lol
It will be interesting to see what ends up happening eh. *sigh* OCD man – glad to be surrounded by others with it. *LOL*

I agree with MacLane79. I think something will happen that will momentarily leave one of them in a situation where they are unable to respond aloud to the other person's declaration of feelings. Leaving both parties thinking nothing has changed. So one will know how the other feels, but not vice-versa. From that point on small things will change in the relationship that could be taken for granted until someone slips up and admits "I heard what you said back when….blah blah blah".
Actually, don't ask me why, but I have had more than one mental picture form in my mind of Rick sitting beside a hospital bed holding Beckett's hand as she lay unconscious. He has tears in his eyes, but I never hear him speak. I don't know if this is why I think I agree with MacLane or not.
Someone please tell me that this scene is not something that I read in a piece of fan fic, and that my mind just formed the picture to match the words. Cuz if that's the case, then my theory is blown right out of the water.
