OfflineSo David Amann wrote the 3XK episode and the first episode of the two-parter from last season, right? Obviously, we are going to have get an intense, violent crime and immenent danger two-parter again. Anyone disagree?

Not me! I was delighted to see his name. I wish there was a chance Will Beale had written the second half, but there isn't.

Jennifer Beal for sure. I will really enjoy having her in the episode.

OfflineOh yeah, I forgot about Jennifer Beal guest starring. The two-parters are definitely always great. I love that they give us such intense to-be-continued moments when we still have half a dozen new episodes to allow the ramifications to work out.

I saw an interveiw of someone (Stana?) where they were talking about the two part episode and mentioned it was a big event, like Setup and Countdown, but not with the terrorism plot. And I'm a big fan of Beal's, so I'm looking forward to this, even though we're going to be left hanging for the last half.
Maybe I'll record it and not watch until both have been recorded; tho I don't know if I have that kind of will power.

OfflineI am interested in how the title of this episode, "Pandora", will play out. From Wikipedia (edited):
"In Greek mythology, Pandora was the first woman. Each god helped create her by giving her unique gifts. Zeus ordered Hephaestus to mold her out of earth as part of the punishment of mankind for Prometheus' theft of the secret of fire, and all the gods joined in offering her "seductive gifts". Her other name, is Anesidora, "she who sends up gifts," up implying "from below" within the earth. According to the myth, Pandora opened a jar (pithos), in modern accounts sometimes mistranslated as "Pandora's box", releasing all the evils of mankind — although the particular evils, aside from plagues and diseases, are not specified in — leaving only Hope inside once she had closed it again. She opened the jar out of simple curiosity and not as a malicious act."
Now, isn't this also the episode where Jennifer Beals is a CIA agent and is supposed to have some sort of connection to Castle's past? This could either connect to the Greek idea of 1st woman (muse???) or that she will be seductive or that she will release evil, albeit unintentinally.
(Edit: then again it could be about jewelry or internet radio!)
Following from this is Part 2 entitled "Linchpin". According to The dictionary, a linchpin is "one that serves or holds together parts or elements that exist or function as a unit."
Who will be the 'linchpin'? Castle? Beckett? Gates? Jennifer Beals' character?
I am curious as to how these episode titles will be reflected in the story.

OfflineBeal's character is suppose to be CIA? See, I think Mr Smith is CIA as well. I know others think he is FBI, but I have my doubts. What if Beal's character is linked to Mr Smith somehow, and she lets out of the bag some of the issues surrounding him?
I haven't put any thought into this and what that could be or how it would possibly play out, but I wonder….hmmm?

OfflineFillkat, I think I read, long ago, that Jennifer Beals was going to be in the 2 parter and the story involved a rogue CIA agent but I wouldn't swear to it and anyone can correct me if I am wrong. It also said she would have some connection to Castle's past. I know it was talked about in the General Season 4 spoilers thread. I will try to find that info somewhere!
EDIT: http://www.tvguide.com/News/Ca…..40746.aspx
Also discussed quite a bit starting from about p 127 in the Season 4 spoilers thread.

Maybe Castle had a previous romantic relationship with her and this gets Beckett's hair up all on end
..AND maybe she has gone rogue because she finds out about some back door shenanigans going on with the Dragon and one or more of her fellow agents. She accidently runs into Castle and lets the cat out of the bag and he tries to help her but Beckett is taking issue with it all, not knowing exactly why he is helping this CIA agent because Castle can't tell her and Beckett is left wondering what the heck is going on between these two.
..high five, episode solved

OfflineTV Guide article:
…Beckett soon becomes distracted by the fact that Castle and Sophia have quite a complicated history
Ok, well I was half right about the Beckett part, but maybe a slight shift in why the rogue agent went rogue. Still could work.
I imagine the C/B relationship will have moved up a notch by the time this episode airs, and Beckett's response to this woman regarding any 'perceived' inappropriate behavior towards Castle, would be noticable and I hope Castle notices it.
