OfflineI wasn't sure where to stick this. Sorry if it's not worthy of a new thread. It's the DVR numbers for premiere week. They take 2 weeks to get final numbers so that's why they're posted so much later than Nielsen. I haven't had a chance to analyze all the numbers but it looks like Castle did pretty good for ABC. They do note that DVR is usally targeted at the younger audience so networks like Fox and the CW tend to do a lot better. I also like that they mention networks are paying more attention to these numbers and use them for PR purposes even if it doesn't mean anything for the bottom line.

OfflineThanks admin.
So looking at the numbers … Castle jumped from a 2.3 in the key demo to a 2.9 which is pretty big. It also looks like it's the 4th best performing show for ABC behind Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, and Flash Foward.
It's hard to get too excited since these don't count in the Nielsen's and the networks don't make money off the advertising this way. But it shows that people are definitely taping it and watching it.
Let's hope the networks take a long hard look at these numbers.

I hope they do because that is a pretty good jump. I don't have a DVR but I know tons that do, and DVR Castle all the time. I hope they do look at it.

OfflineFrom the Hollywood Reporter, their take on the DVR numbers, nice blurb on Castle, hope they are right!
In addition to "Dollhouse," some other shows particularly aided by DVR gains include NBC's "Heroes" — its Live+7 rating of 3.7 is greatly improved from its previous 2.7. Same with ABC's "Castle"; the difference between a 2.3 and 2.9 is significant in the eyes of a network.

OfflineThanks for that article.
I asked on tvbythenumbers why they track such numbers if it doesn't mean anything. One of site owners said the networks pay for the info because it looks good with PR. And they're trying to show advertisers that people are watching a lot of the shows if not live. It's a matter of figuring out how to make money since most people forward through the commercials.
