Le sigh. I wish they would just decide to start airing them next week. Of course, that might be a problem seeing as they haven't started filming, but I'm sure some techno-wizard could overcome that inconsequential little detail.

I was thinking that maybe it's some debt related murder? You know, as in, someone's 'deep in debt' but in this case that is the reason they die? Maybe it's too literally read but I'm just throwing it out there and hopefully someone else will get something else from that. :)

That's a good theory… I like that

Oh man, I can't wait!!!
Am I the only one who hopes that it takes more than one episode for Castle to get back into Beckett's 'good graces'?

Nope, I think it should take a while too – though I don't know what the writers have in mind, they may have something cool that justifies the quick turnaround.
I hope that Robert Picardo comes back in season 2 as well, I think he's great.

I agree, they might come up with something that does justify her 'forgiveness' within the first episode or two. Heck just the fact that he found out something that might bring her mother's murderer to justice could be enough… especially since the show most likely won't pick up where it left off. At least that's the impression I got from Season 1, that episodes were not back to back 'the day after', but maybe a few weeks apart. Anyway, bottom line is that I don't want Castle to 'get his way' again so easily, even though his actions could be seen as justified.

One thing to remember about Beckett – is that she does admit when Castle has been helpful – trying to remember which but I think it's the last ep, she says something like "I couldn't have done it without Castle" … whatever happens, it'll be interesting to see it unfold

I don't think he will get his way again quickly. She will carry her hurt. But I do think there will be something a catalyst to explain to her how he wanted to help her and was only using his resources that way, say if Martha was kidnapped or threatened. They alluded in season one several times to his condo maybe needing more security. He mentioned it at least twice that I remember. So if his Mother were threatened or he was kidnapped or threatened, I think Beckett would see how the emotions of “doing the right” thing get clouded when you care about someone. She wasn't a cop when her Mom was murdered so maybe she needs to see how now that she is a cop, even she would do whatever it takes to help find Castle or help his mother be rescued.

Personally, I think that Esposito will man up and tell her that it was his fault Castle got the files. I'm guessing he had to know why Be Beckett would not want Castle investigating, and he didn't tell Castle the reason she wouldn't. (I'm figuring he did know, because he didn't want Kate to know he was the one to give Castle the case files)
Castle really had no idea about Kate's history with her mother's case, and Esposito didn't tell him. Once Kate knows the truth, she may let up on her anger a bit, since she will then know that Castle didn't deliberately ignore what she told him about her mom's case and it's affect on her.

I personally think Castle did the right thing. I know Beckett asked him not to look into her mom's case, but I think he did it for the best reasons – to help her and bring closure…and because he cares about her. SO I hope it doesn't take him too long to get back in her good graces. Am I imagining it, or do I remember that there was a bit of shock/surprise when Castle found out details about the case? Seems like I recall this, and that maybe someone she knows is involved in the murder? A character on the show?

I think you're right. His intentions were certainly good. He knew that Beckett was strongly affected by what happened to her mother, and more importantly that she never had any answers. He thought he might be able to help find those answers and realize until AFTER he started looking into it that she might not be ok with it.
I think there was definately some kind of shock/surprise from Castle about whatever it was that was revealed about the case. It will be interesting to find out what it was!

I am thinking also that the Deep In Death title may really be what another poster wrote about Deep In Debt being a play on the words. Maybe her Dad was in debt to someone due to gambling debts or some such and he couldn't pay it off so they murdered his wife as a wake up. Might be how Kate is so good at Poker. Dad maybe had a habit and taught Kate all he knew. So when he finds out why she was murdered he can't handle it and turns to alcohol. Kate helps him pay off the debt by winning it back and sobers him up but then becomes a cop to clean out the bad guys. Just a thought….

I don't think so. And what about the other two "random" murders mentioned by the "Doctor Death", but probably by the same person/people, who murdered Kate's mother? Also due to the cards debts?

No one said the hits were random. Random to the police does not mean that they were unknown to each other–they could all have a relationship in some way to each other. I feel that maybe Beckett's Dad is the linking piece. His being sober for 5 years tells me it might be about more than just his wife's death. He could feel responsible in some way. So I still feel the link is Mr. Beckett.

I think Beckett has every right to be mad at castle. Although castle had good intentions he shouldnt have gave it to Dr. Death without her permission.
