The chat room has ruined you people!  (Okay, maybe I'm just feeling sorry for myself because I missed it.)

What did you think?!  I thought it was awesome, as per usual.

I would like to have a pony.  I would name it Trouble Maker.

"Inside the glove?"

"Yeah, inside the glove." (motions with hand)

Acting out how a hand goes inside a glove……so funny!  Like, umm…..duh!

I thought the episode was fantastic, it really hit all the right spots for me.  A continuation of the chemistry between Beckett and Castle, more character development for Ryan, Esposito and Lanie, more on Beckett's back story, a great mystery story, and that really great ending scene.  Plus throw in Beckett doing a Russian accent and the takedown move on the Russian mobster, wow.

Great episode all in all and a great start to the season.

^I thought that was great. They seemed awed at the concept of looking in the glove for prints. I actually thought that's what they were talking about when she asked if they tested the glove.

I also got a laugh out of Castle and his CSI reference.

Oh yeah, CSI and they also made fun of all the remakes…….Fame, A Christmas Carol, etc.  Loved Martha's line there about Hollywood not being original.

The episode was a fantastic start to the season—I was in tears at the end, and that's usually not my habit.  There is hope for Rick Castle after all!!  I loved all the little references to CSI, especially since it is on at the same time slot!!  Yea Castle & Beckett!!

Yes, the ending was perfect!  Nathan and Stana both nailed that scene.  I would have cried if she didn't say, 'Castle…..' before he got to the doorway.  Instead, I just got that lump-in-your-throat-right-before-you're-gonna-cry feeling.  I hate that.  Thank you very much.  : )

Looking forward to a season full of that dramedy balance.  It's so much fun!

What a fantastic job last night. It really picked up where it left off and kept on running.

So many lol moments that I can't remember half of them right now.

Loooooved the end scene. Well done writers, well done.

A quick look at the ratings.  I read some reports that Castle didn't debut all that well but it looks in line with how it did last season.

http://tvbythenumbers.com/2009…..fall/27997

Overall, had 9.3 million viewers with a 6.2 demo. The most important demo (18-49) only held a 2.3 though.

Jamz – I was just looking at that site five minutes ago and the info on Castle wasn't' up yet, I was about to post also that I heard the ratings weren't so good. Given that with all the reruns and such should have brought in a bunch of new viewers, holding steady at last season's level probably isn't so good. I think Castle is on shaky ground and needs better ratings to get a full season. Not the news I was hoping for.

Okay my internet is down at home so I had to wait until I got to school to be able to jump online and come here >.< I don't know if this was mentioned anywwhere else in this post but did anyone else catch what Castle said about the other three murders?

One of the victims was a former law student of hers. Being that they were talking about Beckett's mom, this makes me think that she was a law professor which explains a little bit more why Kate understands the law so well.

Do the ratings you're looking at include those of us who did not watch live?  I thought I read somewhere that they count the online views for the first 24-hours post broadcast and tally 'em up as well.

A few shows took a dip from last season it seems. A few shows picked up though too. Hopefully it won't be such a bad thing that Castle held the same. I wish it would have done better but when I saw that the summer reruns hadn't done so well I'm not surprised. Let's hope ABC sticks with it because it would be a crime to lose this show.

On the bright side it didn't lose any viewers. And if they publicised it more it would do better I think.

^I know what you mean. All we can do is hope that it picks up as the season goes on. I'm doing my best to get my friends to watch, but none of them are really interested. I think a lot of people dismiss Castle as "just another cop show", when the main focus of the show isn't about the cases at all. In the same way that the main focus of a show like Grey's Anatomy isn't the surgeries, but the relationships between the surgeons.

I caught that. I was wondering about that too, and about how it doesn't seem like the other two victims were involved with her somehow.

I found a post by Tom (who I think is one of the experts on tvbythenumbers) in the comments section and he had this to say about Castle:

Castle with a 2.3 is exactly what I thought – a ratings purgatory where the numbers are too low for ABC to want to keep, but so high there is no guarantee a mid-season replacement would do any better. We’ll see how it does the next couple weeks, but I think the show will get a backorder – and yanked off the schedule frequently as ABC tries other shows there.

Is that confusing to anyone else? So he thinks it'll get the backorder (9 episodes I believe) but it'll get yanked off the schedule or just yanked around on other nights? Hopefully Robert (who posted the first numbers) will chime in soon.

Got that, lilmac.  And, the other two vics seem connected as well.

I wanna learn more about the ME that did the J. Beckett autopsy and who did autopsies on the others.  Lanie better get on that.  Just because Castle can't, doesn't mean she won't.  Go Dr. Parish go!

Yes, that is good news :) Also, the buzz online seems to indicate most people enjoyed it so hopefully those people will remind others to watch next week.

For those that missed it you can watch the episode on Hulu, even if you didn't miss it watch it anyway!  The more views the better.

I think I'm going to have to bribe some of my friends so that they'll start to watch. I'll be devastated if the show goes off the air. :(

Yeah….what nalissa said!  ABC did a poor job promoting the show before the season started.

I agree. I noticed that they had a few previews, but not as many as other shows had. They had more previews for new shows than they did for shows that are starting new seasons.

Besides watching the show every week, I'm planning on buying season one and Heat Wave. Doing whatever I can to keep the show on the air, ya know?

I'm not only talking about previews.  ABC should take a lesson from our Admin in her comprehensive approach to preparing her set-visit report which included various media types.  Print ads, radio interviews, guest appearances, etc.  It's a big cast.  Divide and conquer.  And, why haven't I seen the season two poster on a bus?
