You are not shallow for wanting to take the breath away from someone you are attracted to. There are just very few times that it happens is all, so it was perfect seeing Castle react like that to Kate.

Thanks for sharing the scoop unniw! I just had the  most delicious thought.. what if it turns out Castle's old flame, his ' the one that got away' – is the murderer!! ha haaaaaa…

Not necessarily.

It could also be a case of Castle being young and stupid and doing something that destroyed the relationship. He realized it and it was too late. We shall see come January!

Reading this I immediately got a picture of Cap. Montgomery getting some very nice scenes with KB questioning her ability to work the case. This episode is going to be interesting.
